    Yingluck

BANGKOK: -- The spotlight will be on a special House-Senate meeting in the Parliament today when MPs will discuss the Constitution Court's injunction last Friday in regard to charter-change legislation.

But PM Yingluck Shinawatra has decided to avoid what could be a contentious debate, saying she has a busy schedule until next week.

News that the prime minister was unlikely to attend the House-Senate meeting came after the PM's secretary-general Suranand Vejjajiva said she may visit people hit by flooding in Chumphon instead.

In the afternoon, the PM is due to go to Nonthaburi to follow up on compensation payments for the massive flood last year. There had been plans to record Yingluck's talk show there, which will be broadcast tomorrow.

Suranand also said the PM's schedule next week was very tight, as it focuses on flood prevention plans. She apparently has to visit many provinces in the North; Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Phitsanulok, and Bhumipol Dam in Tak.

  3. its always funny to see how serious Thais become when an international icon is talking about the TRUTH ....and nothing than the TRUTH ...oh my goodness ..how shocking ..... I will boycott the concert ...bla bla bla .....if you dont want any one to talk about fake rolex or other watches ..clean your pavement ... intellectual properties here means nothing .Thais for sure have NO sense of humor. so we cannot talk about prostitution ? fake Gucci shirts ? and illegal music CDs ? LOL what a joke .....

Do not forget the fake smiles that ends in stares, fake ladies that end are in reality lady boys, fake tax collectors that turn up to check if you have licenses to operate and collect amounts that are not receipted or countersigned, fake claims.... SORRY CHUM,.... since when did the conscience hit some people that they are being faked? Rethink, leave your ivory castles and take to the streets. Everytime you close your eyes to reality.... someone else is photographing it for reference!

  4. I sure love to know where these guys get the data. Just because there are 30 increase in the number of tourist does not mean the tourism income also went up by 30%. More tourist but they spend a lot less because the world economic problems

The average stay period for foreign tourists was 9.64 days with an average spending of 4,187 baht per day, an increase of 2.66 per cent.

I guess its easier to quote figures without taking into consideration the % attributed to inflation of prices. 4000+ is not the world for the European... its 100.00 Euros per day. That including hotel and food is a good deal. 30% INCREASE... has to be seen in the light of many factors... 10 days at 1000 for the week that seems like a bargain???? :)

  5. Knowing the law is one thing... in the mind of an intellect or a rogue. Maintaining law and order is an attitude that begins first in the mind of the enforcer with no compromise! Why is it that the tourist is robbed by the "tout" and feels even horribly taken advantage of the law that should protect him? Is there a law only applicable to certain conditions? Language, Nationality or even status? I wish the police in all sincerity that they uphold it to what it stands for.

  6. 50,000 red-shirt supporters?

Yesterday it was 100,000 then 200,000.

There must be a lot of lost reds somewhere. Check under your beds guys

Red shirts cant count....they can only shout! For the ones gone missing...they wear brown shirts with red underpants.

  7. The police had to talk to him all the time because they were afraid that he would commit suicide.

I can imagine a conversation filled with "where u come from", "what your name" etc. etc. sad.png

    True... like the police!

Now they got the guy in custody..... He is due to experience Thailand Legally - Amazing Thailand.

I am not condoning what he did. But now all eyes are diverted to a "Nazi".... Hmmm... what about the typical scenario that haunts many husbands married or living with Thai women.... who play this same game. Blind eye to this? Well, go to the tourist resorts on the East coast and the bars.... Stories very similar and there is nothing you can do about it if you choose to live here.... Its practiced and has become an industry blessed by family members and supported by crime rings. " you scratch my back...... I'll scratch yours" Another one bites the dust. A foretaste to justice in Thailand.

  8. Readers read logic into this case.... an english Teacher earns 1000 Baht per student private tuition in English. How stupid would he be to settle down for 4000 drug deal. It smells fishy. It seems or I assume he knew too much of someone in the trade who palmed him off in a silly situation. Truth has two sides...often in the silence of the lambs.... as said before. I am happy that he was not pushed off a Balcony or made drunk and finished off Pattaya style.... There is more to this than what seems a police success story.

  9. 4000 baht!

Nice to see they are concentrating on the "Big" dealers. laugh.png

Was my first thought as well..... in this case this mouse was stumped or bowled out

Interesting would be to note if the News would disclose the build up to this... someone wanted him out, 4000Baht is not the world for a teacher. I am happy that he was not pushed off a Balcony or made drunk and done away with Pattaya style

  10. I am not a politician... reminds me often of a hamster..... constantly on the tread mill and living in a hole, stuffing themselves over to retreat elsewhere to digest. The fiasco that the political party has made making false promises, constantly changing.... like a Chameleon... sometimes Red, sometimes blending in with the situation, at expense to their claims, a rare breed that cannot be contained in a zoo and too clever to be in a circus as clowns. I suppose the stage they have choosen is the best - The political stage, it is here only time will reveal that the act was poorly rehearsed and the scriptwriter lost all links with the audience who has paid bitterly to have them there...

I suppose lets be practical and look at Plan C - 1 Text book for two children. This will help friendships and healthy competition and group development. It will also save those who promised Christmas Gifts... but could not even deliver them for Christmas, Perhaps wishful thinking has been the flare of this government. Someone is not doing their job properly.

  12. I do not know whether Thailand does it on purpose or accident.

One way of keeping power is to keep the people uneducated, and I think it is fair to say that in Thailand that is the majority case.

The same in Cambodia and Malaysia.

In Malaysia they have put English in and out, and in and out of the curriculum so many times..Their problem is they do not have the teachers for English.

They were teaching Maths and Science for about the last 4 years in English at high school. Announced this year back to Bahasa. Now at one school that has about 5 classes in each form the top 2 in English the others Bahasa.??

When the exam comes they must have different papers, but they can answer in either languager.

So keep them uneducated and we can tell them nore stories.

Hmmmm are they planning to produce a Malaysian chameleon? Chame chame chame chame ..... you come and go, you come and go.....Asians politics.....Want to play cards - Bridge ---- bridging International Polictics...the problem is they have many A's cards in the pack

and most of them are simply jokers over written with an A.

  13. The Education Ministry is now preparing for what could be called Plan B - to hand out textbooks to Prathom 1 students, because it has become apparent computer tablets will not reach their hands for the coming semester.

They forgot to include mentioning a "Plan B" in their election campaign banner.

Rather, they said they would provide free tablet computers for all children (that's 11 million students in primary and secondary schools).

    PeauThaiTablet.jpg

No mention lately of what happened to the nation-wide Free WiFi, either.

  14. No problem: Come back to Thailand, do your 2 years in the country club prison of your choice (or build your own), and then get back to the business of wielding power and transferring as much wealth as you can suck out of Thai society to the pockets of you and your cronies. Hell, rural folk are easy -- 500 baht per heart and mind. They'll even buy their own red shirts, which you can manufacture in Burma and sell back to them for a slick profit. Bought sis a Prime Minster office. What else can you do? Life's good when you're a billionaire!

yeah... its easy to lend money that is not yours and take it back with intrest to make it legally yours right. I am with you on this... He has done wrong to the country and has cheated poor people farmers. Giving them money ofcourse...but taking it back or using the headmen in the villages to hold inheritance in other forms. If he is a MAN then let him bite the bullet and take his stand in courts. This whole idea of coming back in glory .... is really a sickening thought and an insult to Thai intelligence of common people.... it also makes me sick inside, because in reality....it is this "havent lost face" concept that is nurtured here, which is so prevelent in this country it seems to me that integrity and transperancy of a person is honoured less rather the tact of loosing face is honoured higher. On the contrary which is more noble to admit ones wrong and ask for forgiveness and take on the consequences. In my opinion come back to Thailand big T, the ones you cheated are now well educated to help you stand trial, face your consequences. This is more honorable than using puppets here to approach judicial systems to prove out of court his so called "innocence" and creating a comfortable pad with its laws by selection. Please do not get me wrong I have nothing against the red shirts. But any intelligent person will not allow a blind doctor to operate on those who can see.

  15. Not to overly parse the wording and the court's response...

But the 2nd TAN report doesn't say Thaksin is talking to the judges... It says Thaksin has asked his dynamic duo of Jatuporn and Natthawut to strong arm the judges... Then of course the court spokesman denies Thaksin is talking to the judges. But as for the other two???

yeah... The python has gone off into slumber after filling his stomach full.... but after years in the real world where the laws of the jungle are not the same as in his own territory, he wishes to come in again.... power hungry as ever. Move on big T..... become a part of history and go down its memory lane for what you created and messed up. Thailand has potential people with a large conscience and who will stand up to responsibility. I wish Thailand and its path to development all the success with people at the Helm, with a concience, worldwide attitude and respect towards people regardless if they are farmer or royalty. Each has its duty and do not need the subtle business tactics of one who aims to fills his own pockets and jeopardise the harmony in the country.

  16. I'm not against national leaders appearing in tourism campaigns per se. But it seems they fit better when they are especially charismatic leaders like Obama or Cristina Kirchner. Yingluck is moderately pretty but she is not really charismatic and she speaks English so atrociously. Perhaps the idea is to suggest don't come to Thailand for sex tourism. Our women are not your sex puppets. Instead, we have our lady Thaksin puppet. From a purely business point of view, attracting more tourists, it doesn't seem to be an especially astute choice, but it's not tragically bad either.

Obama? Charismatic? Give it a rest. Cristina ok but obama -phhhhhp

I reckon you just don't like Obama if you really don't see what most of the world sees quite clearly. Yes, Obama is a very charismatic leader. Charismatic doesn't mean good or bad, just charismatic.

In the land of the blind... the one eye reigns. If there is to be any rise of a blind being whole to see again... it only needs to blinded permently so that the one eye reigns

  17. AS HAS BEEN AIRED - The video filming began after he had a bash on his head

This might not justify the actions of the Farang... but it is worth trying to access the reason to why he was physically assaulted!

Why was the police not called or this person not restrained till legal action was taken.

There has to be a progression to all of this - I am hoping that this would show more than just Thai vs Farang scenario.

  18. oh great ... more funny ideas ....

yeah I had the same thought. I thought that any prime ministers first role is for the Socio economical development of the country and the protection of Law. Well... it looks like those HR people and those who pride themselves in being quoted as Ministers simply do not know where to draw the lines in a job description - Lets look at the logical progression of this thought - If Tourism needs to be developed, and the Prime Minister is choosen to be the best Presenter.... with so many casino and go- go bars around... She would have to begin with Pole dancing in the literal sense! I apologise for the comparision but where on earth are you leading with this ...when the countrys Prime Minister is supposed to be the presenter. Its not in her Job description. It only reflects those ministers or those who have a vote on this.... their total ignorance of her position.

" Jack of all trades MASTER /MISTRESS of non!"

  19. Sounds like it was excessive force on a farang who didn't want to follow the rules. They should have just called the police if they were that hard up about not letting the guy on the train with the balloons. Give him a ticket not bash his skull .. <deleted>

Thats true...the violence in Thailand is stepping up against Farangs. Its best we move to neighbouring countries where we arent treated like cattle.

  20. Dear oh dear it seems to get worse lately, what a terrible way to go sincere condolences to the families, very sad indeed.

I agree its getting worse in Thailand or atleast what was done in secret is now made public... It is sad that the administrative conscience of people here are torn between the reality of a make belief lifestyle and Nirawana. Anyone crossing or not doing their part are wiped out easily. I always thought countries like Russia and some Eastern European countries had such a reputation...but it looks like Thailand is making its mark as "Amazing Thailand" What has happened to your simplistic smile.... it looks more like a guilty one of lure to those who are swept off on first impressions. Its the sub culture groups of "havenots" and "havelots" and we only watch sadly on. Today bavery and heroism is a subtle form of thuggery that smiles on. Its lawlessness that prevails in such countries where the laws are proned to be misinterpreted with languages that has tones and squeaks to mean on thing or the other. I hope justice will be done!

  21. Oh dear God. Castrate these people, please

    Yeah really.

Sad really sad - when any society, religious sector tolerates these kinds of acts... It will only generate a sub culture breed that will eventually determine their own laws. Take anything that deviates from the norm of a man & women and it only is perverse. Those who fight for it only do so because they were tolerated by a generation. The end of everything they pursue ends in sensualism.... a from of mental masturbation with no fruit.

  22. Viewers will be surprised to read this, but I now prefer to go to Pattaya for beach holiday than Phuket? Why??????? Various reasons but the main one is that the "locals" in Phuket are rude and always ripping off the tourists. They locals who are "south Thais" are different than the Thais from Isaan or the North. In Pattaya, the locals (who are from the North and Isaan) are more friendly and patient. True, the beaches are not as clean to swim in but they're nice to look at from your 4 -5 star hotel. It is cheaper and you don't have to fly to get there. Good bye Phuket. You were awesome back in the 80's but no more. You (Phuket) have ruined your charm by becoming greedy and over runned by the thugs and mafia with the tuk tuks and shops.

I agree 200%. My ex pat friends in BKK laugh at me when I tell them to come and hang down in Pattaya...then they fly over to Phuket and end up complaining non stop about the rip offs. As for beaches, yes, Phuket is better, but you have to take a trek from Patong to get to the good ones...ditto with Pattaya. If you head up to Na Jomtien, or a bit farther and zip over to Koh Samed, you have some very nice beaches, indeed. I'd take Pattaya over Phuket 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

    Phuket.... rip offs

Pattaya has some nice beaches that are not tainted by all this stuff you hear from the south!
