Generally speaking, married Thai people (whether married to a Thai or foreigner) needs spouse's consent to buy/ sell a property
I guess it is office specific just sold a property in May (Udon Thani) did not require anything from me.

Most Airlines will not permit you to fly on an expired passport Might be able to fly with Thai airways but always best to ask the question directly to the airline 1st
Last year daughter with expired Thai passport traveled on United no problems. They were aware Thais could travel home on expired Thai passport...

Been trying to get my wife and I home to the states, three days ago Eva was showing flights resuming from BKK after the end of this month, checked today and they show the suspension of their services to and from BKK has been extended until June 15. Makes me wonder of the Thai Gov. is giving off signals maybe that they aren't going to lift the ban on incoming Intl' flights until mid June?
Really hard to find info on this stuff online.
Thai Embassy just released no international flights in June. Thai Air is trying to restart July 1st... Wife stuck in states... Wait an see if Thai Air has any success in restarting flights..

I departed on the 5th and I have pictures of an empty airport. Plenty of places to sit and lay down. Not 10 minuets to go through immigration fast track. Flight from Udorn about 50%, BKK to NRT 70%, NRT to ORD about 65%... Almost no one wearing masks in the US...

The way it is going, be prepared for your destination country or airline banning you from going there/leaving Thailand.
That is my concern as well. Leave on the 5th of March for the US... More importantly, the flight in a metal tube with recycled air and hours waiting in various airports.

I have added several grand children over the years to my credit card accounts, when they were young adults 18+. Less than a year later their credit score were high 700's to over 800. One just recently purchased their first home, Yes I am responsible but they do credit them as if they paid the bill as well... The credit cards have their name but my account number...

I find Songkran the best time to buy or get those handy waterproof passport holders, which are otherwise difficult to find.
I miss the old days, when the fun was done in good moderation. Water was thrown only to those who were participating the festival. Not thrown to every scooter which travels on the roads.
One of my most favourable memories comes from my first Songkran in Thailand.I was trying to get to Khaosan road by taxi. Taxi caught on traffic jam and the driver suggested that it's best for me to walk the 500 meters to the destination, so I did.
While walking, there were some kids playing with the water. The kids saw that I had my backpack and that I was not prepared to the full water war. They stopped me, then very very politely put some powder and water to my cheeks with their hands. Laughed with big smile and went on their way.
Once I got to my hotel, I changed my clothes and was ready to get soaked. Outside, not a minute later, I was wet! That was, when it was ok to do so.
Good memories from 2003
First Songkran, 1974. Same very good memories.

We are very familiar with family, friends, etc from our village going to work in Israel. Many are there currently.
Previously, many went to Sweden to pick berries in the same kind of scam your wife was involved in.
Not enough berries to pick to cover the cost of borrowing all the money to get there which was sharked at ridiculous rates.
Come back to Thailand and lose their land and/or house because they did not earn any money.
Always some Auntie pulling the scam.
40 people sleeping on the floor, getting almost nothing to eat the entire time.
One Thai man came back and lost his farm and committed suicide.
It is sad your wife was caught and arrested, however, either you do not want to tell the whole story or you are looking for sympathy for your wife?
Maybe you do know the whole story and know why she got sent to prison for so long and now much money and now many people were scammed.
These same types of foreign work scams have completely ruined innocent lives while the perpetrators run off with all their money, land, house etc.
It was a kind gesture for you to pay off a few claims but I suspect is was the tip of the iceberg.
Isaan people were scammed out of millions of baht, not a couple thousand pounds.
Probably a good idea you moved on and gave your daughter an awesome chance to have a life.
My ex-daughter-in-law got taken by a similar scheme in Udorn. My wife figured it out when they had a party just before they were to leave. The scammer would not let anyone take pictures of him... He was caught but no restitution! He scammed about 15 people... Caused massive problems as most borrowed money to pay the scammer.

I see the biggest issue is every cop would want that job. Who would wanted to be promoted and if you work traffic officer paid well. Work the desk etc. less pay... As mentioned they would probably have to share with the "Boss". So might not really see an increase...

My wife and I had our Thai will made two years ago. We were told that by Thai law it is 50% surviving spouse and 50% children... If some one can confirm different I think we would make some changes. In the states I have all to wife vs versa for me. If we die at the same time 50% to our kids (2) and 50% (3) her children, all in the US. I also have set up in the Thai will that the property is to be split 5 ways if we go at the same time... More assets in US but still very substantial here.. Not too worried as I will not be here???? We have sold one property in the US and one for sale. Take us down to just family home. In Thailand have one property for sale and would still have two properties here after the sale. It would be my thought to get us to just the two properties in the next 5 years, less burden on the kids... Less in fighting LOL!!!

The heat..

In 1973 I was out with my future wife at Paradise Pool in Udorn. I had been drinking and decided I wanted some fried rice from a restaurant near by, My future wife told me to take off my baht chain before I went to the restaurant as it was dangerous to wear a gold chain. Oh course I was young and did not listen. On the way back, someone tried to take my chain from behind, I was able to turn around and had him on the ground and was hitting him. Then another Thai came out of he alley and hit my head with a pipe as my friend just stood there. I did get 5 stitches... Lessons learned no gold and new friends when I go out... My home was robbed in 73 as well, but had nothing of value taken as any valuables were on base... No one was home... I did go to the police (things have not changed) about the assault and robbery of the chain, He wanted me to pay him to look into to it... I just walked away!!!

150.000 is not excessive.
A Thai friend recently organised a funeral for her sister.
Costs were almost 400.000.
Our cost -donations for sister in law over $5,000.00 US... She lived with us and had been a second mother figure to my wife...
-
This does not work out well the overwhelming majority of the time.
Thais do not have the same sense of privacy that Westerners do....both in terms of walking into the house whenever they please, helping themselves to anything of yours etc but also in terms of prying/interfering in personal matters.
And they will put considerable pressure on your wife to do things "their" way; this may also include pressure to give them financial assistance.
Should you have children, this will be a particular problem and you may find yourself voiceless in how they are raised.
Both you and your wife will be happier if you build further away, and relations with the inlaws will likely be much more harmonious that way.
Same experience (no privacy) when I visited her family over the years (43). So when we build our home my wife wanted her sister and niece to come live with us. I did not have any objections. Both were (sister in law passed) very caring people, but I explained how I enjoy my privacy. So we built a two bedroom house on our land for them and then our retirement home over ten years ago. They were not a burden and my wife was happy to take care of family members. In this case her sister who had raised her after her mother died and they were living in abject poverty. So my sister-in-law thought the world of me and on her death bed I was the last person she talked about... I guess my point is it depends on how you get along with the in-laws! Her family two brother, ex-husband, grand kids and great grand kids all live with in 20 KM.. Has not been an issue for us.

Dude, IDP is like $39 at NRMA or whatever state you are from and takes 5 minutes
$16 at AAA in the US, Since I only visit once a year, it is not a problem....

if he complains give him 500 baht or a bottle of booze.
Why on earth should I? I simply want to know the legal situation here and what my rights are.
I have the same situation, we did approach our neighbor first we got permission to cut anything on our side of the wall. Since the tree was so tall I could not reach the higher limbs of the tree from my side, So we went back to him. He has cut the tree back but we still have some limbs over our property line dropping leaves in our yard... My wife says we have the right to cut anything on our side of the wall, Next we plan to complete the cutting back, what he did not do... The plan is for me to do it this time. So I guess it is legal for you to cut anything on your side of the wall, but best to seek out the neighbor.
Thai wife has cancer & wants to get home to family. Thai passport expired, can't get covid insurance to use US passport. Help?

Your wife can arrive in Thailand with an expired Thai passport.. She is a Thai citizen therefore can not be turned away.. I traveled with my Thai (adult) daughter with expired passport. The Thai immigration did take her to verify her status, took about 30 minuets but was released into Thailand to get a passport... Hope your wife gets better...
