So that's why this type of gambling is allowed...even encouraged...
Did not know the Government cut was so high.
Interesting.
Just imagine the governments bounty if casinos were legalized! That will never happen since it would have a negative effect on the profits of the 'officials' operating the illegal "gambling dens"!

A woman over 50 was arrested near my USA home for throwing a party for teenagers at her home...
She posted bail and was arrested once again a few days later for the same infraction...
Some people are just determined to try and have things their own way...
Then there are the officials in Jacksonville, Florida who reopened their beach. No different! Arrest the officials!

What is wrong with people? There is no punishment too severe for this drug addled scum!

If people need an alcohol fix they will find a way to satisfy that urge. As an example the Prohibition era in the USA - drinking didn't lessen it went underground!

most people infected with COVID-19 in Pattaya are either foreign nationals or Thais who came into close proximity with foreigners
It is obvious that foreigners are to blame - you see them maintaining social distance by riding 2, 3 or 4 on a motorcycle - sharing drinking glasses - eating from a common bowl often using the same spoon and digging into containers of sticky rice with unwashed hands! Ban all 'dirty' foreigners!

And so it begins! Expect many more crimes as people strive to survive in a country with 25% unemployment and no real social safety net!

The EC must eliminate any perceived threat to their place at the trough! The election of a 'civilian' government would do that!

Sadly and unfortunately this is the new norm now, some will suffer a hell of a lot then others, good to see that people are choosing to sell their possessions rather than resorting to criminal acts...
Criminal acts soon to follow! What happens when the cash from the sale of possessions is gone and the addicts no longer have the cash for their daily fix?

According to the Ministry of Interior, at least 47 provinces
now have a ban on the sale of alcohol:
1) Until further notice: Chon Buri, Phitsanulok & Phuket
2) Until April 15: Rayong & Ranong
3) Until April 16: Sakon Nakhon, Yala, Phichit, Lop Buri & Chiang RaiIt would make sense if the dates were standardized in all provinces.

Is there any particular reason for this?
The ban was initiated to prevent crowds of young, and not so young, people from crowding together and sharing a few drinks with their fellow 'rebels'! Perhaps during these 'drinking sessions' a deck of cards may materialize or, heaven forbid, some might want to discuss the draconian measures being taken across the nation and around the world to combat an invisible enemy.

I note the Immigration Act is dated 2522 (1979) which is 41 years ago. Perhaps it is overdue for revision - many things have changed since 1979.

Is social distancing practiced in the jails?

They must all live in my village! Social distancing - nope! Stay home - nope! Covering the mouth/nose when coughing/sneezing - nope! Hawking and spitting - yep!

All foreigners, many Thais ordered into 14 day quarantine on arrival in province
Racism is alive and well! Foreigners, IMHO, are less likely to carry the virus than the locals since most have learned proper hygiene since childhood; less likely to be riding 2 or more on a motorcycle; may better understand the significance of social distancing, etc.

What about the poor people without a pot to <deleted> in, who will have trouble putting food on the table ?
If you have nothing you can lose nothing - my heart bleeds for the poor. One should expect a sharp uptick in crime as the poor, many of them already severely in debt, become more and more desperate.

scanning people’s temperature
It has been reported that one can be a carrier of the virus for 5-10 days before symptoms, such as high temperature, materialize. So in my humble opinion scanning temperatures is a futile exercise.

News in: 936 people died in one day (yesterday) in Italy. For those who are posting that we are on a downward curve of infection rates ... I’d advise caution when making such statements.
This may shed some light!

You certainly must live in a different province than I do. I'm in Amnat Charoen. My bills from the past year average 2061 baht ranging from 3094 to 935!

Thailand = the land of Generals; would assume that Thailand has more generals than entire Europe ????"...it also reported that there is one general for every 660 lower-ranking members.
In comparison, the troop-based ratio for the U.S. Army, where the number of generals is capped by Congress, is about one general to every 1,600 enlisted personnel."
Thailand has about 1,750 generals.
