outbreak petering out
sensible options now - keep businesses & free movement open, borders, entertainment and large gatherings closed for at least 14 days?
one thing is for sure the virality is far lower here than in europe or the US, there was enough cases for it to kick off properly
Could it be lack of test facilities and skewed reporting?

Probably going to surpass the Italy infections and deaths because of his initial disregard for the "flu".
USA has already surpassed Italy's and China's number of infected. It is just a matter of time until the death rate surpasses both - it currently exceeds 1,000 deaths.

no mention in this of who he is taking guidance from
Obviously the Construction Engineer in charge of the Health Ministry is providing the much needed guidance!

It was stressed that their symptoms were mild and their condition in hospital is not serious.
Regardless if he symptoms are mild or not they are still carriers of the virus. Those they came in contact with may not be so lucky.

Body temperature being 36-37 celcius appears to be the favourite temperature... the only time hIgh heat and humidity will help is if the virus lands outside in the sun.
Once you step into buildings, all bets are off.
Another problem is with cars - my wife, for example, is trying to manage distancing and avoiding the restaurant at her office, but she has 3 passengers to drop off after work every day... she can't isolate in her car after work because it's just socially not feasible. I told her to keep the windows rolled down and set 'fresh air' (lol) instead of circulate on the blower.
Not to mention the motorcycles with anywhere from 1 to 5 passengers! Social distancing seems to be impossible!

Meanwhile, provinces in different regions have also announced lockdowns to prevent the outbreak of Covid-19.
If there was a real national government that actually cared for all citizens they would lock-down all provinces. No good to close a few establishments in one province while adjacent provinces are carrying on with no concerns.

Schools, IMHO, are hot beds for disease transmission, colds, flu, measles chicken pox, etc. They should have been closed 6 weeks ago. Now how to make the kids practice social distancing.

ready to take decisive action at the appropriate time
I do believe the appropriate time is long past. Slamming the door on Chinese tourism 2-3 months ago was the appropriate time! Locking the stable door after the horse has escaped is too late! All the unemployed workers from Bangkok are now returning to their home villages - how many are carrying the virus?
Self quarantine - stay safe!

So far, there are very few official cases outside of Bangkok.
Perhaps because testing facilities and tests are unavailable. Because you are not tested doesn't mean you are disease free.

“The sim card will be used together with the AOT Airports application, which will help track the position of users for 14 days to verify that they remain in quarantine,”
And if the visitor does not have a smart phone will one be provided? There are people in this world who have not got on the "smart phone" bandwagon.

I'm quite sure this is a Bailey bridge, a type of portable, pre-fabricated, truss bridge.

It is great idea to stop all crowd activities but is it practicable. Take as an example funerals - my research indicates there are approximately 1,400 deaths each day across the country. This means 1,400 funerals. Is it possible to stop funerals? I think not. I recently had the misfortune to lose my mother-in-law. Over the 3-4 day funeral event over 500 people, from various parts of the country attended - praying, visiting, sharing meals, etc. Imagine the outcome if one or more was infected by the corona virus - impossible to maintain 'social distance' therefore a real hotbed to spread the virus. I'm sure there are many funerals with fewer attendees and many with more attendees all of which are potential infection points.

Several European countries have ordered all bars and restaurants nationwide to be closed for up to a month.
What you think we would see if Thailand issues a similar order?
Ho Chi Minh City, District 1, has issued a similar order effective 6:00 PM yesterday

No report on whether or not the truck had is emergency 4 way flashers activated or if there were any tree branches placed to warn other road users of an obstacle ahead.
Whenever, day or night, and wherever I park my vehicle the 4-way flashers are turned on. I get many locals pointing out that my flashers are on - mai pen rai!

Nice of the assassins to go to the trouble of making sure the girlfriend didn’t get hurt by pulling her out of the car first and making sure she was not going to get shot.

After 180 years this is a mind numbing statement! "... the relationship between germ and disease were conducted by Louis Pasteur between the year 1860 and 1864..."
Does this mean that 10 people shouldn't eat out of a common bowl of soup using the 1 or 2 available spoons? Does this mean you should wash your hands before digging into a container of sticky rice?

I live in Romkloa and apparently the story is that it was a revenge/grudge attack for incidents that happened 20 odd years ago when her sister was bullying or hitting her as a kid.
Police were around a couple of days ago with a picture as she was caught passing near our place on a video cam at around 3 a.m. that morning.
Similar to all the 20 or 30 year old sexual assault charges being levied since the start of the #metoo movement!
