PVC pump tubes, high pressure waterguns banned for Songkran
BANGKOK: -- Excessive and intrusive waterspray attacking has become popular among some and hated by many during Thailand's annual Songkran Festival, the sale of high-pressure waterguns or PVC pumpguns has been prohibited for Songkran, according to the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB).
OCPB Secretary General Rasamee Vistaveth warned that the companies who produced or imported such equipment as well as shops offered such toys should be aware that waterguns have been banned under OCPB regulations.
Using modified waterguns such as the PVC pump tube which produces high water pressure, or other high pressure equipment, could cause serious injury to others, she said, adding that spraying water with such toys at people driving moving vehicles such as motorcycles and cars may cause serious accidents.
Manufacturers in violation of the ban can be fined no more than Bt500,000, or face a maximum five year jail term, while sellers face a maximum fine of 50,000 baht or six months imprisonment, she said.
Members of the public can call the 1166 hotline if they see vendors illegally selling the banned water guns, Mrs. Rasame said.
The Songkran New Year water festival is regarded as one of Thailand's the most important traditions and the OCPB encouraged the public to stick to the more polite Thai traditions of splashing water respectfully when celebrating Songkran.
Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year's festival. It falls on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of every April. The government has declared the festival as an extended public holiday, to enable people to return to their hometowns for family reunions, merit-making and reuniting with others in their community.

Swedish Woman Found Dead on Thai Beach
Saturday, March 15, 2008
BANGKOK, Thailand — A Swedish tourist was found dead Saturday on a beach in Thailand, police said.
The woman was identified as a 27-year-old who had been visiting the island of Phuket, one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, with two friends, police Lt. Gen. Sakchai Limcharoen.
One of the woman's travel companions discovered her body midday Saturday near the bungalow they had rented, Sakchai said.
She appeared to have been attacked with sharp objects, Sakchai said. Police were investigating the attack.
The Swedish Embassy was closed for the weekend and could not immediately be reached for comment.

You need to tell us how you will be using the water....will it be strictly household use?...or will you be doing alot of garden and yard watering?...if you will be watering a large garden or yard area will you be wanting to do that with large sized rotating impulse sprinklers?...drip irrigation?....what kind of shower do you like...a real large volume of water but at low pressure? or a really large volume of water at high pressure? or just the run of the mill shower? or low flow low pressure shower to save on water and electricity or for whatever reason? And finally how much will you be drinking (hahahahhahha).
Chownah
Nothing is simple! Seems I left out a lot!
The water in the 2 storage tanks are for household use. Not for drinking although I have been considering a filtering system for the house. Showers - well, I take one shower a day for about 10 minutes, the wife and child usually 30 minute (!) showers. Pressure is not important as I plan to use 3/4" fixtures off the 1" supply pipe. I "think" I should have sufficient pressure with this setup. Yes, I know that some fixtures will have to be 1/2" but a 1/2" pipe off the 3/4" should suffice.
Water from well will be used for gardening. Do not expect a large garden plot! Recycle time for the water well, i.e. returning to the 5 meter level is about 8 hours.
Hope this will be suffiecient. And thanks again.
Get rid of those ugly storage tanks and make a big one underground. Plant some nice flowers instead.
Buy a good quality sub.pump, mine cost 9500 Baht, made in Italy, to pump the water from the well to the big tank.
Buy a Mitsubishi,250 watt, pump to supply the house.
If the well water is not of good quality go for a filter.
I had this system now for 18 yrs and is still up and running.

Just bear in mind, there are a lot of negative people on Thai Visa. They are by no means representative of normal people in Thailand
Meet with the parents and tell them what you have. If they continue to ask for more, they're probably no good.
Most Thai people don't like farangs let alone allowing their daughters to marry them - they try to get some compensation.

This service is getting worse. Now it frequently downloads websites at 15-50 kb/s. That is a hel_l of along way from 1,000 kb/s that I am paying for. Maybe they should rebrand it as "SnailNet". It is like my old 56k dial up sometimes.
Has anyone used the CAT service on a TT&T line, in Pattaya and if so, what is the performance like?
I’ve 2 MB Indy pack. Pattaya Tai.

Posted
A week ago I bought a new computer and at the same time I bought a genuine Windows XP Home SP2. My “plomplem” is that I can download the up dates but can’t install some of them, how come? I tried Windows troubleshooter but that’s a joke.
