  1. Ok, so my aacount details were added to hte operating system which was ubuntu but for some reason we couldn't use it. I took it to another shop who wiped that and put windows 8 on it. I did not set up any account because I wasn't there at the time. My cousin pointed out that facebook has my email address in the log in section even though I had never used it. The only thing I can think of is the shop, who have my details, installed ubuntu with them but that operating system was removed. What's even stranger is I can't understand why they would be there on facebook, this is before I used the thing, It's very strange to me.

  2. Hi all. I bought a laptop recently completely new. Didn't sign in to anything or associate email addresses with windows or anything like that yet when I went onto facebook my username was already there. Given that this was the first time I used the computer, I am very surprised to see this. Can someone explain how it might have happened?

  3. Hello posters. I've been away for a year and returned to Bangkok this weekend.

Could someone tell me if any new bars have opened recently. I usually go to the ex-pat bars but not all the time. The Robin Hood used to be my favourite one.

Alternatively, if there's a bar you recommend, again prefer the ex-pat bar but doesn't have to be, then please inform.

  4. You also need to take into consideration the size of your bed. If it is too small and you curl up at the bottom, this can induce cramp, especially if you are not used to such sleeping postions.

Much of the discussion above -re electrolite salts- would only be true if you sweated PROFUSELY on a regular basis. As Lopburi3 has already said, you should feel it coming on before it happens fully: try to remember your sleeping position and consider whether that is a contributing factor (often the case) or not.

  5. A sad story this one...100% true..

The girl in the next block has a Norwegian boyfriend, who is back home now, but keeps her well supplied with gold and cash, she is even learning English at school.

Last week on a food break in a cafe, while dining alone, a woman approached her speaking Isaan asking for directions, she sat down next to her and asked various questions and gained her confidence.

The next thing the girl remembers is coming-too, some minutes later, 15-20 minutes and her gold, handbag etc. were missing containing mobile phone, ATM card etc.

She was very disorientated but it got worse when the bank told her that 20,000 baht her daily limit had also been withdrawn, she must have revealed her PIN number to the female robber.

I am certain that this is hypnotism, farangs are safe from it, as fluency in language is needed, but I have warned my TGF about talking to friendly strangers and to be aware of this type of crime, which is very much unreported.

FYI :The language school was on Soi Bukhaew and the eatery nearby.

Would just like to say that out of all the crap I've read on thaivisa.com this is right up there with the worst of it. Syd Barrett, if you really do believe in what you have posted, or anyone else for the matter, I can help you locate the whereabouts of a nearby mental home (assuming you do not already belong to one).

  6. After saying that I don't eat much farang food, I got home last night from work and my wife had spaghetti chicken balls waiting for me. Chicken balls with a cheese centre, and a great Italian sauce, "koat aroi"(careful who you say this to). translated as "######ing delicious" :o

Sorry can't type in Thai at work as I can't gain access to the settings. 'koat' as you've spelt it 'kort' as others do (sala 'o', kor kwai, raw reau, tor tao) , is b.l.o.o.d.y in English not the f- word, if that's what you typed.

  7. Have been a vegetarian for 15 years and been in Thailand for 5 years now -never once had the urge to eat meat or seafood. I'm fortunate enough to have never liked meat and have always thought it -red meat especially- smells like sewage. Fish: well the sea is full of piss and siht, which is enough to put me off eating them. Thai food: too many occasions of it giving me stomach trouble, so rarely eat it these days, tend to eat a combination of sandwiches, pizza, pasta, salad, or Indian food, which is pretty much how I have eaten my whole life. Sometimes it gets a bit boring but not often. Having worked as a chef for years before I came to Thailand, I can cook my own food but hardly ever do -no excuse, sheer laziness.

  8. Will Joe Cole be in the team over Makalele, Tiago, Smertin, Lampard, Duff, Robben and now SWP? I cant see it myself. (well probably ahead of Tiago and Smertin) Will Wayne Bridge really be a regular with the new signing of Del Horno?

I guess Mourinho is making sure he has a quality squad and this includes the backup with the CL games coming up and there will be loads more internationals too leading up to the WC.

Chelsea are going to unbeatable this season it looks like! Especially if they do manage to get that striker that is proving so elusive so far.

With the world cup coming next year I hope he does give the English players a good run in the team. I'd hate to see any of them go to the path Scot Parker has gone down.

As for Chelsea being unbeatable next season, yes I'd say so, though I'm not sure Mourinho can get himself into too much more trouble before it begins to affect the team/team spirit adversely.

  9. 2 whole times in BKK,  did you walk around with your eyes closed or something, there are approx 60m thai people in thailand, half of those are women and less than 1 percent of those 30m women work in the sex industry. Thats 29.9m women to check out, just wondering how you missed them all :o

    Perhaps they were avoiding him.

  10. Didn't realise London was so expensive...  :o

How is it worked out.. (sorry haven't read the link yet)..?

    totster  :D

Polls like these are formed by comparing the prices of approximately 10 globally found and commonly purchased goods, such as coke, hamburgers, stamps, basic items of clothing, and various others (sorry can't remember them all off the top of my head). It's not meant to be a comprehensive index and is meant to be nothing more than a guide.

Suspect the reason why many in this thread and people generally pay little attention to it is due to the fact that it is not comprehensive in any way whatsoever.

When it appeared in that joke of a newspaper The Bangkok Post last year, the capital of Ghana made it into the top ten.

  11. There's definately something for everyone. I prefer to go to the ex-pat area in the Soi Borkhao/Chaiyapoon area. More laid back than the beach area but still plenty of options and Crazy Dave's is a great little restaurant.

Yeah, have agree.I always stay in Soi Lenkee the next soi over.Much much better than Luton!! Hey fw1, worked there for nearly 30 years.

Glad you liked the place so much!
