I got my Michelin Pilot Sportys today. Great service from this shop. I called in about 10.30 am, by 12.30 he had sourced the tyres and by 2.00 pm they were fitted for 2,600 baht. For once i am really impressed with thai service. BTW the shop is exactly 2 kms north of Pattaya Nua on the left.

That's really useful. I've been trying to get some Pilot Sportys for ages but no one seems to have them in Pattaya, I was quoted 3,800 for a pair of Dun;op TT900s.

When you are buying ANYTHING in Thailand just ask the price first. Then you can decide if you want the 2 for 1 or 2 for 2. Simple.
-
Are you sure the extra 300 baht they are charging is not for HD, that's what it costs. So you are still only paying the 1412 for Gold plus 300 for HD.

You can buy the ipad2 in Thailand now for about 13,500. It's a great device so why buy some crappy chinese clone just to save a few thousand baht.

I want to buy a Kindle for a friend in the UK but she hasn't got wi-fi at home. Am i right in thinking that all she has to do is go to a wi-fi hot spot (say Starbucks) to down load the books then she can read them anywhere. Or do you need home wi-fi to use a Kindle. I suppose the same question applies to the use of a Kindle in Thailand without home wi-fi.

I used to have TOT, crap service so i changed to 3BB, been fine ever since.

I find it disgusting that only Thais who paid into the system receive benefits. This goes against everything our Western governments have taught us about equality and fairness.
What is fair about people who do work having to pay for people that don't work.
-
It's funny to watch the thais wrap up with jackets and scarves even though the temps are still in the 70s. We would be glad of that in a British summer.

True Visions isn't so bad. You've got a choice of movie channels, sports, the BBC, news, documentaries, series, national geographic, history, what more do you want. The programmes in HD are also great to watch.

Mityon is no different to any other shop/restaurant in Thailand. Customer service is crap everywhere so don't be offended.

I see loads of Indians with 32 in LCD TVs on trolleys at Suvarnabhumi. I presume they are taking these back to India so i guess they all arrive safely.

er it's rainy season we get storms almost every night.

I liked the bit about "gasoline being too expensive here" You should try living in Europe. Here they virtually give it away.

Bangkok will soon be under water. Don't buy there.

An interesting range of comments here. I paid 3 million for my "concrete coffin" over 6 years ago which luckily at the time equated to 50,000 GBP. Now i did gather my thoughts and compared that to what a 100 sq m apartment would cost on the English coast or Med, a bargain i thought. I have had 6 happy years here so far and hope to have many more. If i had not bought but rented or stayed in hotels around the world i'm sure i would have already spent close to that 50,000. Even if i sold at half the purchase price i would still come out ahead.

Yes we would all go business class and eat at the best French restaurants and ski in St Moritz if we had big money. Some don't.

I think buying a condo in Pattaya "as an investment" is a bad idea. You'll be lucky to make any money. Only buy if you intend to live here for a long period 10 years+ AND you know the place well and believe it's somewhere you could live.
-
Zero tax but i pay 22,000 a year for maintenance for a 100 sq m condo.

Anywhere for tyres in Pattaya. I'm after some Michelin Pilot Sportys

I know there are some <deleted> about. When i sold my old scooter recently one guy from Chiang Mai rang me (i'm in Pattaya) with a silly offer and wanted me to send the bike to him there !! If the bike is in good condition and priced fairly it will sell without dealing with any of these plonkers.

For those looking to get a PVR through True Visions there is a very useful article on www.somkiet.com/AudioVideo/HD-PVR.html which sets out all the options. Following this i bought the Orico 2.5 in 2598 HDD external enclosure and a 500gb Seagate HDD. Worked great from the outset and i am very happy with the PVR service (so far).
The good thing about the external drives of course is that you add as many as you want as it fills up. Next time i will get the 1TB WD10JPVT which i've seen for 3,150 baht

O.P. states that he already bought a universal remote. For anyone else who need one when theirs dies etc. There is a shop on Theprasit a couple of doors down from the store with the yellow front. They have all kinds of original remotes. My Samsung broke and I got an original one (not exactly the same as the one that broke) that works perfect.
I need an LG TV remote as well and i live near Theppasit. Can you give me an idea of how far down the road, left or right. Thanks
