  1. I wonder which idiot agreed to start a race at 10 pm <deleted>. I suppose it's to suit the europeans who see it early evening. I can't see the point of floodlight racing (ala Singapore) you can't see anything of the track, crowds or surrounding area. You might as well have in europe at a test track.

  2. Bank tellers collect taxes for HMRC on Capital Gains!

NO! But they are obliged to notify you of your (possible) tax obligations.

How could the teller possibly know that the cheque was written by her father, who might be old, and who might die and be subject to inheritance tax? Surely to them it's just another cheque to be deposited. Sounds bizarre. The tax only becomes due when the father dies anyway.

  3. Does anyone know about Royal hill condotel on thapraya road ..?

Hard to imagine anyone wanting to live there who isnt stone deaf. Between the deafening 24/7 traffic noise from the road and the building noise from Grande Caribbean on one side (when they start) and Treetops on the other (when they start) it is one of the last places I would want to be over the next couple of years.

Chateau Dale wont be much better soon thanks to Grande C, which is a shame as until now it was quite a nice place.

The Grande Caribbean will be low rise near Chateaudale.. (8 floors) The high rise 30 floors will be build on the roadside for seaview

I doubt if the Grande Caribbean will ever get built. They have been advertising it a lot around town for well over a year but they haven't even dug a hole yet. They are offering a new Cruze car for someone who buys a condo in the Cruze block but i think the car will have rusted away before the condo is finished.

  4. You don't say which city you are in but in Pattaya the situation is getting dire. They are building thousands of new condos and many hotels but are making NO improvements to the road infrastructure. It is very difficult to get about by car and on holidays the place almost comes to a halt. I stick to my bike which just about allows me to get around and park.

  5. I've just had a blood test at the Lifecare Laboratory on 3rd Road near the flyover. They were very good, professional, 15 blood tests for 500 baht. Much better than a hospital imo.

  6. I never understood if the letter quotes a recurring pension which is above the 65,000 level why you can not keep using it for a number of years, but TIT.

The letter states your income in Thai baht, so I would assume you need a fresh letter each time owing to the fluctuation in exchange rates.

No the letter states my pension in Sterling. If that is say 2,000 GBP a month surely that should be enough to get my visa every year (unless the Pound drops to 32.5 !!).

  7. I'm sure that True Visions will just pretend that they have the new season of football until they can't pretend anymore, just like the Euro 2012 disgrace!

Personally I'm going to look at IPTV set-ups for a fraction of the price of "More expensive than UK Sky-True Visions"!

Here's what I think I'm going to go for,it also has the AstroSports Channels from Malaysia so they will definitely have Premier League :

Has anyone tried using this yet? Using an internet connection can have its problems in Thailand, are the programmes streamed OK. I am still mad with Truevisions for not showing F1 in HD (for Gold subscribers).

  8. I've been looking to buy a new Honda Click idling stop for the past 2 months but held off hoping the Pound would increased (some chance). I check every now and then on the price but every time i do it seems to go up a few hundred baht. When i first checked the basic bike was 52,500 now it's 54,500. Have Honda increased their prices recently or is it my local dealer Mityon pushing up their quotes.

  9. Stopped going to Bangkok (nana , cowboy est ) 4 years ago when the prices got silly now I go to pattaya

Never go to walking street total ripp off

Up to 2 years ago used to drink on drinking street ( 2nd road past big C) until prices went up and the 500 bt bar fine was introduced

Would not even dream about going Phuket any more

Now I stay around new plaza bowcow and sometimes soi 7 or 8 but I'm just waiting for the day these places go stupid and drive me out of pattaya altogether

I never drink farang brand spirits as I know they have probably been watered down

My point is after many years here I know all the pit falls and rip offs but the newbe striat off the plane is going to get a nasty shock. The bar owners and and other rip off joints just don't seem to realise they are shooting them selfs in the foot time and time again, how many first time tourists will be back

They aren't, that is what's called business. They don't care how many first time visitors will return, as there are every day new first time visitors.

I have currenly friends here for their first time, and touring Thailand with an organised tour, and just the other day they told me that Thai food was so delicious and cheap. When asked what they called cheap they said that so far they had paid an average of 800 Baht a person for dinner. And that was without drinks.

Oh and by the way, if this trend goes on, I'm sure I will meet you soon when exiting a 7/11.

Who can afford a 7/11. Archa has just gone up from 39 to 42 baht.
