  1. I've been looking to buy a new Honda Click idling stop for the past 2 months but held off hoping the Pound would increased (some chance). I check every now and then on the price but every time i do it seems to go up a few hundred baht. When i first checked the basic bike was 52,500 now it's 54,500. Have Honda increased their prices recently or is it my local dealer Mityon pushing up their quotes.

  2. Stopped going to Bangkok (nana , cowboy est ) 4 years ago when the prices got silly now I go to pattaya

Never go to walking street total ripp off

Up to 2 years ago used to drink on drinking street ( 2nd road past big C) until prices went up and the 500 bt bar fine was introduced

Would not even dream about going Phuket any more

Now I stay around new plaza bowcow and sometimes soi 7 or 8 but I'm just waiting for the day these places go stupid and drive me out of pattaya altogether

I never drink farang brand spirits as I know they have probably been watered down

My point is after many years here I know all the pit falls and rip offs but the newbe striat off the plane is going to get a nasty shock. The bar owners and and other rip off joints just don't seem to realise they are shooting them selfs in the foot time and time again, how many first time tourists will be back

They aren't, that is what's called business. They don't care how many first time visitors will return, as there are every day new first time visitors.

I have currenly friends here for their first time, and touring Thailand with an organised tour, and just the other day they told me that Thai food was so delicious and cheap. When asked what they called cheap they said that so far they had paid an average of 800 Baht a person for dinner. And that was without drinks.

Oh and by the way, if this trend goes on, I'm sure I will meet you soon when exiting a 7/11.

Who can afford a 7/11. Archa has just gone up from 39 to 42 baht.

  3. My tip for the condo never to be built is the Grande Caribbean on Thappraya Road. They have been advertising it heavily for over a year but they haven't even dug a hole in the ground yet. Even when (if) they start it will be at least 2017 before it's finished.

  4. I live near Pattaya Klang Big C. Last summer, the first four months I lived here I had to walk the stretch from Buakhao to Soi Yume probably 80% of the time in the late evening. I don't mind walking but there were times I just didn't have the patience. However, walk it I did because there were no buses or if they came by, they were trolling for a charter. It's what finally drove me to abandon "public transit" and buy a motorcycle. And I'm glad I did. (Now, Jingthing should be along any moment!)

The problem is a motorcycle is not really an option. If you are out drinking late at night driving a bike is just madness. It's only a question of time before you get zapped. You have to rely on public transport in the evenings. Even if YOU stay sober no one else is.

  5. Sad to hear but it's not just a Thailand thing. Employees defraud their employers all the time, many examples in the UK press. More concerning is the behaviour of the bank. They had nothing to gain so they were just incompetent.

Don't be an apologist, peer over your rose tinted glasses.

I think OMGImInPattaya was simply trying to inform any interested parties of what has happened.

Look at the Daily Mail today. Employee stole 1 million GBP from residents association in London, not just TIT.

  6. I've always thought that a budget of 65,000 baht a month was about the minimum needed, which also equates to the immigration requirement. Your budget is smack on that. The rent element though doesn't leave much, about 5,000 baht a month for a room ?? You can get a room for that but it won't be much. It's odd you plan to spend as much on wine as you do on rent. Also the entertainment budget at 166 baht a day ?? Unless you like a really quiet life that is too small. It buys about 2 beers a day, and no female company.

  7. In the last few days I seem to have lost a number of channels. I am on Gold and I thought I was paying for HD 300 baht a month. But I have lost the HD channels 122 and 136 and Fox Family Movies HD. Is 136 now the main sports channel? I have checked their web site but it is not clear what channels you get for HD. Is there a gold HD and a platinum HD, for a higher fee.

  8. I must admit i like 3d tv if it is done properly like Avatar 3d which is awesome. Some of the 3d animated films are good too. Trouble is not much content around at the moment. I suppose 4k is the blu-ray of the future but we all have to buy new expensive tvs and again the content will be limited.

  9. Does anyone know if any of these shops offer part exchange for cameras. I've got an older Nikon D70 which i would like to upgrade. It seems a shame just to ditch it and a p/x would help with the upgrade costs.
