  1. My tip for the condo never to be built is the Grande Caribbean on Thappraya Road. They have been advertising it heavily for over a year but they haven't even dug a hole in the ground yet. Even when (if) they start it will be at least 2017 before it's finished.

  2. I live near Pattaya Klang Big C. Last summer, the first four months I lived here I had to walk the stretch from Buakhao to Soi Yume probably 80% of the time in the late evening. I don't mind walking but there were times I just didn't have the patience. However, walk it I did because there were no buses or if they came by, they were trolling for a charter. It's what finally drove me to abandon "public transit" and buy a motorcycle. And I'm glad I did. (Now, Jingthing should be along any moment!)

The problem is a motorcycle is not really an option. If you are out drinking late at night driving a bike is just madness. It's only a question of time before you get zapped. You have to rely on public transport in the evenings. Even if YOU stay sober no one else is.

  3. Sad to hear but it's not just a Thailand thing. Employees defraud their employers all the time, many examples in the UK press. More concerning is the behaviour of the bank. They had nothing to gain so they were just incompetent.

Don't be an apologist, peer over your rose tinted glasses.

I think OMGImInPattaya was simply trying to inform any interested parties of what has happened.

Look at the Daily Mail today. Employee stole 1 million GBP from residents association in London, not just TIT.

  4. I've always thought that a budget of 65,000 baht a month was about the minimum needed, which also equates to the immigration requirement. Your budget is smack on that. The rent element though doesn't leave much, about 5,000 baht a month for a room ?? You can get a room for that but it won't be much. It's odd you plan to spend as much on wine as you do on rent. Also the entertainment budget at 166 baht a day ?? Unless you like a really quiet life that is too small. It buys about 2 beers a day, and no female company.

  5. In the last few days I seem to have lost a number of channels. I am on Gold and I thought I was paying for HD 300 baht a month. But I have lost the HD channels 122 and 136 and Fox Family Movies HD. Is 136 now the main sports channel? I have checked their web site but it is not clear what channels you get for HD. Is there a gold HD and a platinum HD, for a higher fee.

  6. I must admit i like 3d tv if it is done properly like Avatar 3d which is awesome. Some of the 3d animated films are good too. Trouble is not much content around at the moment. I suppose 4k is the blu-ray of the future but we all have to buy new expensive tvs and again the content will be limited.

  7. Does anyone know if any of these shops offer part exchange for cameras. I've got an older Nikon D70 which i would like to upgrade. It seems a shame just to ditch it and a p/x would help with the upgrade costs.

  8. I give mine 8,000 a month. That is for her personal stuff be it shampoo, face creams, clothes, phone or whatever. It is not a lot of money but she saves some of that each month.

She does not work but that was a joint decision. 12 hours a day working, coming home, sleeping 8 hours, time to travel to and from work left us with a couple of hours a day together. A couple of days off a month. If she is working I might as well live alone.

A part time job of work would suit her perfectly but they are few and far between.

We share the cooking and cleaning, the laundry and everything else, though she does prefer to do most of it herself. We have time to go out to different places during the day, to get out to the bar once a week - she is not one for going to the bar much.

This suits me and is a situation I am currently happy with.

No requests for money for family or anything else.

I felt the same way about my tgf working. She had a job for a while earning 250 baht a day. By the time she paid to travel to work, had a couple of meals there, uniform etc she hardly had anything to show for working 60 hours and i hardly ever saw her. She was too tired for boom boom etc. I can't see the point in your tgf working, you might as well just barfine when you need it. I presume you still pay for some of her living expenses over the 8,000 baht so it's difficult to say exactly what a live in costs you.
