What about the Mitsubishi Mirage, looks a nice car for the price. What puts me off the Kia is that they do not have a dealer network, or even proper showrooms. If you had a problem i imagine it would be a nightmare to sort out.

I think 16,500 baht but maybe some deals around at Tukcom

I am definitely NOT an Apple fan but why pay 21,900 for the Samsumg when you can get an ipad3 for 16,500 or the ipad2 for even less ?

Yes i won't book with Air Asia again but i already had two flights post 1.10. I know there is a bus service between the airports but not sure about a shuttle.

People who use apostrophes on plural words e.g. condo's, girl's
Hate really? Do you really hate people who make a grammer mistake even though you completely understand the meaning communicated?
This is exactly WHY i hate it. People who think illiteracy is OK "so long as you understand the meaning".

I bought my tgf a fino. It was a great little bike to ride. I loved the seat very soft compared to my Nouvo. Nippy to ride around town. The biggest problem for me was starting it. In the morning it would take 5 or 6 goes on the starter button to fire up. If you left it for a few days it would take several minutes to start. Main reason i got rid of it and would never buy another.

I don't understand why thais would buy condos (not condo's). Surely they can buy houses for the same money.

The traffic-lights for pedestrians in Pattaya (somewhat around 13 pieces of them) are being turned off during the weekend.
It seems (yes: seems) that they actually work from Mon-Fri.
I don't know exactly how many pedestrian lights there are in Pattaya, but it are a lot more han 13, and the majority is turned of 24/7.
Other than that there are a quiet a few junction traffic lights that never have been turned on, and in fact the traffic lights that are functional in Pattaya are ignored anyway.
Oh so true, yesterday while coming back from Jomtien one of these lights near Royal Garden turned red and I was the only one who stopped. Almost everyone else including a bus and several song taews raced through the lights. The pedestrians on the other side still had to play chicken to cross.
I think it's almost dangerous to stop at a red light because you know the people driving behind you won't stop. There's a chance they will drive into the back of you.

A man jumped from the 10th floor yesterday and no word of it here? I have to say that I am surprised at that.
Do you really think TV should made a report for each of the 30 suicides that occur daily in Thailand?
Is there any official source supporting that number?
There are nearly 100 suicides a day in Japan. I doubt if the press report each detail.

He certainly had the "right stuff". A great achievement RIP.

Those Australian prices are scary, especially with the Pound at 1.50 to the $. Is the average family income $150,000 ? I had a great holiday in Oz in 2004 and i thought it was a bit expensive then. It's a wonder anyone can go there now. $42,000 for dental work ! you could buy a house here for that.

I never drive/ride at night. It's not just because i drink but i know that 90% of other people on the road are drunk. Even if i drive/ride well i could still be in an accident caused by some other idiot.

What always surprises me is the high cost of the ticket. 100 baht. For many thais that is nearly half a days pay. It's like someone in the west paying $30 for a ticket.

In Pattaya they also ask for copy of Thai bank book even if extension based on income, as previously stated, get copies of all the documents prior to your appointment so on the day you are not running around and getting stressed out prior to your appointment.m
This no longer seems to be the case. I extended recently in Pattaya (using a proof of income letter from the consulate) and they didn't want to see a bank letter. That's OK saved me 200 baht.

I was in the dealers today and saw this new Honda, the scoopy i S12. Looks neat in black. Anyone tried one, what's it like compared to say the Click i, and prices ?

I looked for a hotel in Mandalay, not much choice

I agree with londoedan. I have never been near a doctor in 40 years so rather than pay 75,000 baht health insurance i will save it. Over 13 years that's 1 million baht saved which would cover all but the major illnesses. If i get anything too serious go back to the UK. OK it's a bit of a risk but i wouldn't want to pay a bundle in insurance and find that when i need it they don't pay out.

Good. You should have been fined 2,000 baht. Maybe next time you won't litter the environment.

If it's a tube type tv, then i had a similar problem with a Samsung too and couldn't get it repaired.
Samsung service centre is your best bet opposite Tesco on the Suk.
They will send out an engineer to asses the problem, but in my case they didn't have the spare parts
to fix it, and only 4yrs old.
Never bought a sumsung product since and never will again.
bizzare problem
screen flashes weird colors
goes black for 1-3 seconds
but sound ok
then all of a sudden
no problem at all
I had a similar problem with a 2yr old Samsung LCD TV. I had it "repaired" by Nunmchai on Sukumvit Road but the problem reoccurred soon after. Threw away the TV and said i would never buy Samsung again. With the price of TVs now it is not worth the cost of repairing them.

The fact that Malaysia is a Muslim country would stop most people from wanting to live there.

I've just had to make a similar choice. In the end i went for 2 LG inverters @ 21,000 baht each. I am very happy with their performance so far. One factor for me was their (claimed) low noise 19 db. Can't say i've noticed much change in electrity bills but then i probably use them more.
That seems kinda cheap for an inverter unit. I have seen them only much more expensive how many BTU are they.
12,000 btus. The list price is lot more @ 28,000 but Num Chai here in Pattaya offer good discounts. Someone before said don't but LG electrical items but most of mine are LG (TVs, DVDs, air con) and they have all been perfect performers.
Pattaya On A Budget Is It Really Worth It ?
in Pattaya

I think the OP is being disingenuous. Many people (myself included) live in Pattaya on a budget of less than 50,000 and have a great time. If he can SAVE that amount each month he has no problems and is just being paranoid.
