  1. The money has to be in the bank for 60 days on the date you apply. If you have a problem with the 60 days you could get a 60 day extension to visit your wife and then apply for the one year extension.

You can get a re-entry permit for the under consideration period that would be valid up to the report back date.

    Thanks again Ubon,

Slighty off topic. I spoke to them about getting the extension of stay based on a Thai wife and all the docs are the same as you mentioned but they told my wife that i need the Affirmation of marriage along (been married 9 years ) with the Marriage Certificate. (Kor Ror 3) and updated Marriage Registry entry. (Kor Ror 2).

Am i right in thinking that the Affirmation of marriage documents ( I can't find my copy) will be with the local district office where i got married so i can get a copy from them along with the updated Kor Ror 2.

As they are saying I am applying for the first time, I have to present additional documents even though the documents are the same as when i applied for the Thai child extension of stay.

    Thanks for your help

  2. That has been the rule at the majority of immigration offices. If married to your children's mother you have to get the extension based upon marriage.

The only difference between the two besides the documents required is that for marriage the money has to be in the bank for 2 months.

Thanks for the quick reply ubonjoe.

If i was applying for a new visa I understand that but as it is an extension based on Thai child you would have thought they would just extend it as it is. They could done this 2 years ago instead of changing the goal posts when the visa is already sorted

The reason i choose this extension is if my wife and I divorce or she passes away, it is much easier to extend the visa.

17 years here and the flogic (Logic) of some rules , still baffle me.

Also, my extension finishes on the 17th July and i was going to reapply on the 2nd July.

    1) Do i need the money in the bank for 2 months from the 2nd May, when i reapply or the 17th May which would be 2 months before the extension of stay will finish?

    2) Also, is it possible for me to travel out of the country on the under 30 day consideration stamp if i get a re entry permit so it won't affect my year visa as long as i arrive back in Thailand within the 30 days to get the extension for the remaining 11 months.

    Thanks agin for your help

  4. Hi,

I went to get do my 90 day reporting this morning at Phattumthani immigration and thought i would ask if they had any new forms to fill in for my Thai dependent visa which is due in a few months.

I have used this extension of stay for the past two years and produced all the correct docs etc.

To my surprise they told me that they no longer do this and that i must change to extension of stay through my wife.

I read that the citieria changed (court order/amphur to prove your the legal father) if you tried to get this visa/extension when applying overseas but it's the first time i have heard this when applying in Thailand.

They have either been told at CW or they are just making it up.

Anyone shed any light on this or have had any similar experience?

    cheers,

    jjp

  5. Hi,

Have any TV members had any experiences dealing with Phatum Thani immigration with regards to visa extensions? I will have to renew my visa there soon after using Bangkok immigration for many years and was wondering if anyone can post some information about their own experiences dealing with this particular immigration office?

I persume if your documents are in order, it should not be a problem so I was just thinking along the lines of how the staff are to deal with/ time delays/ hassles etc.

    Cheers in advance,

    JJP

  6. Thanks Lopburi,

Good to know I won't have to go out of the country .

My work permit ends on July 31st so will I have to have the money (400,000) in the bank 2 months or 3 months before this date.

Also my current work permit/visa is based in Bangkok but I will have to use the Pathum Thani immigration office to change to a NON 0. (Our house address is under Pathum Thani) and my work permit has a stamp in it to comfrim my change of address.

Do you think this is possible or will it cause a problem with them being 2 different immigration offices?

    thanks agoain for your help,

    JJP

  7. Lopburi,

Does the 400,000 have to be sent from abroad or can I use the money that is already in my Thai bank account . I have worked here for years so I would be able to show evidence, if they asked for it.

    Also,

A question about the Thai child support procedure

My query is, if my child is 2 years old and his mother and I are married, have property etc, is it possible to obtain this kind of visa or do I have to wait until he is at the age of consent, as I have read on some posts on Thaivisa.

The reason I ask is that the posts I have read refer to the parents not being married, fathers name not on birth cert etc and the parent had to get a court order etc and the child had to been at the age of consent to procede with the visa application?

    Thanks,

    JJP

  8. Have you read the link provided by theoldgit?

    You have three choices:-

    1) Register the birth at the British embassy in Bangkok.

    2) Register the birth at the FCO in London.

    3) Do neither.

Options 1) and 2) will give you a consular birth registration certificate for the child and their birth will be on record at the GRO in the UK. That's all.

Option 3) will save yo the fee for options 1) or 2); and wont affect your child's British nationality in any way. From theoldgit's link

Consular birth registrations do not confer British nationality and are not required to register your child as a British citizen or to apply for a British passport as British nationality is passed from parent to child. Your child will need to have an automatic claim to British nationality in order to register their birth. There is no requirement for a consular birth registration to be done for any birth that has occurred overseas. The original birth certificate issued by the authorities in the country in which the birth took place, along with a notarised translation if necessary, is sufficient for all purposes in the UK (including passport applications).

    (My emphasis)

As the embassy told you, your child cannot get an actual British birth certificate as he was not born in the UK; but as you can see from the above quote; he doesn't need one

    Ok sorted.

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

    JJP

  9. You can register the birth also with the registar in the UK, so you can indeed get a birth certificate in the UK if needed. But most don't consider it worth the costs.

    Mario,

I am a little confused then. Forgive me if I am wrong.

As I typed in my previous mail I have already registered the birth at the consulur section in Bangkok and they have forwared it to London to be registered.

Your reply implies that I can get a British Birth cert in the UK then? If I go to the local register in the Uk which in my case would be Manchester and get them to check with London, they would give me a British Birth cert?

    Thanks,

    JJP

  10. Hi,

I have a query about my son's British birth certificate.

I registred my son's birth at the Brtish embassy Bangkok and got the consul paper to say he is registered in the Uk. I also got his Thai birth certificate so this side is all in order.

I just phoned the British embassy in Bangkok and asked them if it was possible for me to get my son's birth cerificate when I am in the Uk. They told me that I could not because he wasn't born in the Uk and the consul certificate could be used as a reference for anything that occers in the future as it is used in the Uk and other commonweatlth countries. I just persumed he would be able to get a Brtish birth certificate from the UK.

Can anyone tell me if Is this information correct?

    cheers,

    JJP

  11. The 7 days is for late reporting - not an option not to report if it is only going to be 7 days (in my reading) - so if you do not report and are found out on next report suspect you will be subject to a 2,000 baht fine.

    Lopburi,

I understand what your saying thanks.

For example - I flew out of Thailand last year before my 90 day was up and when I came back I calculated the 90 days and then went back to immigration and they did not say anything.

This time I will fly out 7 days after my 90 day reporting and return to Thailand after a 5 week holiday so my 90 day reporting will start again when I arrive back in Thailand.

I was just going to fly out without reporting or do you think it's better to just do the 90 day reporting just for the 7 days even though I am allowed 7 days after the due date?

Do you think the immigration will really check next time even though the arrival date stamp will be in line with the 90 day reporting.

    Thanks ,

    JJP

  12. You can report up to 7 days after the reporting date and 7 days before the reporting dat, soem reports suggest now even up to 14 days before.

Of course mailing your report is also an option. For BKK I believe the requirment is that if you report late, you must do it in person and not by mail.

    Mario,

I am due to fly out exactly 7 days after my 90 days is due for reporting and I know this was the rule years ago but have they changed the rules with regards to 7 days after.

I persumed this was the case as you have pointed out but someone told me that they don't allow you 7 days after any more? Can you (anyone) please confirm if this is still the case?

It would save me a trip to sort the 90 reporting if indeed, this rule still applies.

    Cheers in advance

  13. You really are grasping at straws there jjp, in your efforts to try and prove Manchester is also Red. You must be really insecure about it and it obviously touches a raw nerve.

Now, lets look at the facts of the Piccies shall we. Those pictures have obviously come from 2 totally different spots and times on the route. Ours was probably at the start or finish, as it is clearly closed off by barriers. Yours was obviously taken at a particularly busy area on the route and at a "squeeze" point as they can't go anywhere else due to the ramp that is in the way, hence making it look more crowded. Did you also have to go as far back as 1999 when you won the Treble to get a picture with that many Reds in Manchester, is that the best you could come up with. Sorry mate but your report will still have to say "he’s trying but he must try harder" ;)

well spotted Mr Bo, hats off to you for spotting the obvious. I was bored sat at the com and thought i would have a bit of a laugh and city came to mind and considering you have made me chuckle for 30 years , i decided to post this.

It was for a bit of banter but regradless of which angle the pictures were taken the fact is that united have a massive  following in manchester, as the pictures point out. I am from Manchester, unlike your self ( and Jack and Danny( correct me if I am wrong JD) and I know that this city have more fans than utd in manchester, is utter <deleted>.

I suppose with you having a decent team now, you can at least comment on the football side now instead of making things up to make your selves feel a bit better during the last 35 years ?

  14. Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to get the passport photos taken at VFS visa application centre. I had photos taken about 3 years ago when My wife and I submitted the visa application and I am wondering if this is still an option? It was a little photo booth that you have in the shopping malls here and like they have in the post offices in the UK.

    Thanks in advance,

    jjp

  15. How do Red. Mr Bo

Where did you watch the match in Pattaya? I am there for the Arsenal match next month and would a decent place to watch it. Years gone by there was loads of places but not sure if the old bill close pplaces down at 2ish like Bangkok.

    Cheers

CM, do you mean the same glory hunting rags who were the best supported club in the country during the 70's and 80's

whoops i forgot, city have the most loyal supporters bar none eh

genuine bunch of City supporters, more like, a bunch of bitters :)
