  1. I've lost count of how many times they have had a clamp down on pirated goods. Shops and vendors, who look after the police, are warned in advance so we find the shops closed for a few days. Vendors donate faulty goods to the police so that they can run a road roller over them in front of TV cameras for the benefit of the various country ambassadors, such as the U.S., who think that the Thais are clamping down on pirated goods.

I'll tell you the real reason for the upset - Ultraman is Japanese - not Thai. Bit like putting Nicola Sturgeons head on Queen Vic !

On a side note I wonder if I'm the only one on TV that collects Ultra Monsters  (ex wives not included)

You are wrong. My friend Sompote Saenduenchai who founded Chaiyo Productions (also called Tsuburaya Chaiyo Co Ltd) based in Thailand was jointly responsible for creating Ultraman. I have known him since 1994 in the early days of Ultraman. The rights to everything Ultraman outside Japanese territories was supposedly given by his partner Eiji Tsuburaya, to Chaiyo Thailand. However there have been ongoing court battles between Tsuburaya and Chaiyo over individual Ultraman characters over the years with damages awarded to both sides. Ultraman has always been predominately Thai, with Thai artist and animators.

What a tall story, good laugh though. People don't get stopped on an air bridge by Police for any reason, never mind no reason.   Try again.

I believe it is a tall story. However, I have seen the immigration police nab passengers on a wanted list after notification from the country of embarkation quite often in the 100s of arrivals I have made. You may recall the fairly recent arrest of middle eastern girls trying to escape their families, who were also intercepted at the air bridge and held in custody. I have also been intercepted at the bridge and given an immigration police escort, not just in a Thai Airport. They often give V.I.P.s a special escort, not just wanted criminals.

  4. It was already B5,000 and the BMA put signs up 2 years ago. There was supposed to be a reward of B2,000 if you reported the motorcyclist and sent a photo with reg. The police take no notice and the pavement is breaking up due to the heavy bikes. It's very dangerous to walk on the pavement opposite Paradise Mall, because of the motorcyclists riding on it at great speed. I don't know why they are reducing the fine from B5,000.
