What a liars and fake new producers. Everybody knows Chiang Mai ranked nr 1 place may days for the most polluted city in the world.
Stop using micro grams and start using AQI numbers like the whole world does, yes I know micro grams gives a much lower number and look much better right?
The whole world does not use the same AQI numbers. Stop using AQI and start using micrograms per cu.m. AQI has a quite different scale in a number of countries I.E. The US, China and India to name some. A US scale AQI of 124 is only 75 in India etc. If your AQI meter was manufactured for another market such as India, it could well be reading under. So use micrograms per cu.m. A US AQI 0f >200 (150microgram per cu.m) is rated as unhealthy but in India AQI 200 (90micrograms per cu.) is rated as moderate.

I went to CW Bangkok Div 1 immigration on Thursday 17th October and did our TM30 report, which I trued to do on line on 17th August but never got a User Name and Password. I showed them their e-mail acknowledgement of my application and they helped me set up the Section 38 reporting on my smartphone. They gave me a receipt for the TM30 report and I used that for my retirement extension and was told to keep it in my passport until the next extension or until I exit the country. I was not fined. They also told me that, as I live in my wife's house and not a rented house/condo or hotel, I do not need to report every time I go to another part of the country and return. I only have to do the TM30 report on my smart phone when I leave Thailand and return. This is purely a duplication of the TM6 arrival/departure card report to ensure that I am staying at the place I reported on the TM6 arrival card.

I have had a Bangkok Bank account for 25 years. It is easier to get a BBL account nowadays than at that time, which required a work permit. There are problems with a lack of knowledge at some branches and between bank personnel, especially these days due to the Anti-Money Laundering reporting requirements (AMLO). Because of the AMLO reporting requirements of the United States, my local BBL does not like U.S, citizens opening accounts (3 forms: AMLO, IRS etc), it is bad enough that other nationalities get reported to the U.S. AMLO (1 form). Please note that all Bangkok Bank Accounts with Branches in Bangkok are actually held at Head office on Silom Road, so Head Office would decide on whether to open your account if your local branch declines your application. (Probably the same for all local banks). If you are based in Bangkok and refused at the local branch, open an account via head office then you can use your local branch. I also have online banking via PC and Smart Phone.A BBL set up an immediate transfer to and deposit from my MayBankKimEng brokerage account operating in real time on the SET. They also set up an account with BBL London office so that my UK State Pension gets paid into it and immediately appears in my BBL local Bank Account. You only need to have a minimum 1 year permit to stay.

The local Cambodians are amused every time foreign archeologists rediscover lost Khymer cities that the locals are living alongside and know they are there.

I was at CW immigration today (17th Oct 2019) to register for TM30 and get my User Name and Password which I applied for on August 17th. They told myself and my wife that, in our case as a home owner, they definitely no longer require a TM30 report every time I travel within Thailand. Even when I stay in a hotel and the hotel reports me on their TM30 report, CW does not need you to report a change of location. They stressed that the only time I have to make the report using the Section 38 App is when exiting Thailand or on return to Thailand. I did not get a fine for being late with the TM30 because I had a photocopy of their online receipt which they had sent to my e-mail address when I applied. They stressed that I must keep a copy of the TM30 report receipt in my passport for my next renewal or inspection. With the app this is saved on your smart phone but better to print out a hard copy. On another note regarding my Retirement extension, they insisted on a photocopy of all the pages of my fixed deposit account which is usually B800,000+ going back over 12 months to make sure that I had not dipped below the new B400,000 minimum. So expect to provide 12months plus from the last renewal at the time of your next extension application.

Although I am married to a Thai and have 3 children, I have had this problem before as I was working in Libya on a 10/2 rotation which did not allow me to come back and extend my 1 year permit to stay. I therefore had to come in as a tourist to visit my family 4 times a year for 6 years. On one occasion they refused me entry on the basis that I was not a genuine tourist (technically correct) but there is no solution to this problem. Fortunately the head of DMK Immigration was a close friend of mine and I told them I was supposed to meet him that week (true) and they let me through. There does not seem to be any way around the problem when you have a Thai girlfriend of wife and family here, but work overseas. They do not accept that you are a genuine tourist, which you are not.

Never been asked to show funds in the last 38 years and 100s of entries but I always dress like I have no problems with money. Arrivals include visa free entry, tourist visa and Business visa.

The major concession is another extension to next summer 2020 to allow time for a General Election and/or a second referendum.

This is just a repeat of yesterday's news on Thai Visa/Nation which clearly stated that this applies for applications for O-A visas from outside Thailand which does not apply to Non-O retirement visas and extensions.

And if you are over 70 and cannot get medical insurance, will we be kicked out the Country? I have been here 25 years and always paid my medical bills out of pocket including one at B1 Million 6 years ago in Australia. The premiums are too high and the insurance companies do not cover all the costs as there is always a maximum per item such as I.C.U. costs. In my case BUPA would only have covered B92,000 against my B1 Million medical expense. In any case the travel insurance I had from Jardine's turned out not to cover my illness although the infection came from an injury on a Thai Airways flight to Brisbane. I do not know any of my friends who have had cancer treatment, had pacemakers fitted, hospital treatment etc who have not paid their medical expenses out of pocket and none of them could afford medical insurance. I know the minister personally and I doubt whether he would have medical insurance either, as he is a Baht Billionaire. All that should be required is proof that you have sufficient funds to cover around B1 Million of medical expenses if you do not have medical insurance.

Any remainers unhappy about LOSING the vote can move to one of the countries still in the EU after we leave.....enjoy
iT was just announced that there is going to be an extension to summer next year to allow time for a referendum when those remainers who were not allowed to vote in the last referendum (as the government did not give us voting papers), will be able to vote. Hopefully the Russians will stop brainwashing leavers through social media and the leave campaign will stop using Cambridge Analytica to illegally sway the vote by targeting voters with fake news. 73% did not vote to leave. The law on referendums requires at 55% majority which was not acheived by leave in the last referendum.

In it's ten year existence it's done nothing but! ????
Just like Boris and Farage, Fake News, which is how these liars fooled the some of the public into voting to leave!. Effectively it has existed for 143 years! It was established as the Law Lords under the Appellate Jurisdiction Act in 1876, only the name changed to the Supreme Court in October 2009 when the Appellate commitee moved into a seperate building on the other side of Parliament Square. It is non-partisan.

Nice building, been in the offices a few times. About time the war is ended. It doesn't help when Donald Trump telephones General Haftar and tells him what a good job he is doing (The USA is backing Tripoli and Russia General Haftar)

"The son and I went to Central Chaeng Watthana last week during the great flood of Bangkok. The mall closed at 9:30PM but the air conditioning was turned off around 8PM. It's damn uncomfortable. Not only do the turn off the AC, but there is no air movement in the mall."
Answer; I was outside Central in the floods and the temperature was only 24C and the airconditioning is set to cut in only if the temperature rises above 24C. It was a cool night, so not operating.

This is the fourth time they suggested moving the capital. The original capital was in Ayuthaya but it flooded. They moved the capital to Thonburi side of the river but it flooded. so they moved it to the present location. In 2010 they wanted the capital moved to Chaingrai and again now. Probably someone has bought lot of cheap land and wants to make a killing. Amsterdam has never been moved nor has the Hague which is only 1 metre above sea level. All the government needs to do is to complete the KIng Rama IX master plan (JICA), build the Rom River Dam and the super flood way to divert the extra storm flow away from the Chao Phraya River to the sea. The current super drainage tunnels (up to 6m dia) need to be diverted to the sea, not into the Chaophraya in Bangkok which just make the flooding worse by adding to the Chaophraya storm flow.

Some one needs to show them how to head the plant, thin stalk, please give me a work permit, happily grow full bodied plants, too early to see if male or female plants in photo,
no doubt there are many expats here who could qualify to grow some good weed.
There have been Americans behind this for the last 3 years. Typically they hardly ever show the foreign experts in their photos.

Huawei is already installing pilot 5G networks in Sri Racha Eastern Seaboard Industrial Zone. once the pilot 5G system is proven they hope to install the complete network for Thailand. Vietnam has already awarded their 5G contract to another vendor.

NanLaew has no idea. Expats who have resided and worked or are on pension outside of the UK cannot apply to vote despite being British and being subject to UK tax. In France their citizens and passport holders all have the right to vote in referendums and GEs. In Germany the rights last 25 years. Many countries allow their pasport holders to vote for life in GEs and referendums. The British Government deliberately denied British passport holders living in the EU and overseas the right to vote, denying the considerable Remain vote counting. In February 2018, the Overseas Electors Bill was presented to Parliament, with a view to abolishing the 15-year limit and the requirement to have registered to vote before leaving the UK. This would grant all British expatriates the unlimited right to vote, as long as they have lived in the UK at some point in their lives. The issue is a hotly debated topic among British expatriates who have lived in other EU Member States or overseas for more than 15 years and were thus barred from voting in the referendum on European Union membership, despite arguably being more affected by the result than British people living in the UK.

Philippines peso to Thai baht - thoughts on bypassing the horrible exchange rate?

I agree that the best option is to change Pesos into THB in the Philippines (X-Rate 0.59). In Thailand the best rates are from Super Rich (Head Office is the best of all). There are 3 separate Superrich family companies in Thailand: Super Rich Thailand (Green Coloured Branches - mainly Bangkok X-Rate 0.575) Superrich SPR (Superich1965 - Orange coloured Branches - Mainly in Bangkok X-Rate 0.53) and Super Rich Chiangmai (Blue - 10 Branches in CM - X-Rate not shown on their web site). Alternatively you can find a Thai friend or someone you know who is going to the Philippines and needs to buy Pesos.
