  1. Well here is 10 reasons that i left

1/councill tax that you got nothing for

    2/traffic wardens

    3/intolerant immegrants

    4/no police on the streets

5/traffic speed cameras all over the place

    6/massive car parking charges

    7/overcharging for the simpelest repairs

    8/ massive cost of petrol

    9/ nanny state

10/motorists being targeted and not criminals

i could go on and on but you guessed it thats why i left Britain

so glad i am here in Thailand ,its more like Britain was in the 60s and 70 s not so many rules and regulations.

Pity you don't list, all the good things in life maybe a reflection on your attitude to life. I also See many of these whining posts about the UK, but many come back for NHS treatment or when the Dream has become a night mare. UK one of the safest places to live in the world, don't read to many papers and believe every thing.

You aint ever lived in Peckham or Brixton

This may come as a bit of a shock, but most British people don't live there.

My point exactly, go to ANY large town in the UK, ITS THE SAME..........

You aint ever lived in Peckham or Brixton the list is ENDLESS ?. Please dont tell me that the UK is THE safest place to live, i can assure you my friend it IS NOT. Pattaya is a walk in the park in my OMHO. I wouldnt walk in a UK city at 0300am in the morning and feel safe. i DO HERE Yes there are drugs anf gun crime out here BUT no where like in the UK. Thirty years in Law Enforcement has given me a "reasonable" education of life on the mean streets. Gun crime out here is reported on the news/media. In the UK there are 4-5 shootings a week in lovely places like Peckham/Bixton etc . half are NOT reported, why you may ask......... Because the perps dont want to get BIB involved........AND the BIB dont really give a toss. Suits me fine until you get caught in the cross fire. When i came here a short time ago I was told " you aint seen nothing yet until you lived in Pattaya" no have i trust me. This is nothing !!

1 Transfer money from the UK bank to my Thailand Bank (kasikorrn) quickly without any hassle or bloody card reader etc

    2. Allow me to use a debit card here in Thailand, say drawing 500 UK POUNDS A DAY IF NEEDED.

I have been informed its not that easy in some banks to open up a bank account Views ?

  7. Agree with Sheryl here; a ruptured or leaking bowel is a surgical emergency and you will not be able to travel on a commercial airline (or at all) if this happens.

Difficult to understand how the colon is involved.. How was the diagnosis made at BPH?

Ive seen the video of the INTRUSION OF THE BAND INTO MY COLON, the Lap band expert says in twenty yers he has never seen this before, It could only happen to me !!

Going back to the UK for removal/examintauion in two weeks, its not that i dont trust them out here BUT i will have a good back up in the UK in the NHS system, plus I would be happier with people/surgeons i can FULLY understand when I am asking questions etc (if you get my reasoining)

Many thanks, the diagniois was made at Pattaya Bangcock Hospital ?

    Regards

  8. You mean you didn't consider this before you bought the bike?!

Good luck mate- you won't find many OEM parts for it here in Thailand.

You'll need to import most parts.

Doesn't matter what you paid for the bike- it's gonna be a serious money pit!

Sorry, probably didnt explain full story, the bike is complete 90 percent, non runner, need "repainting, chroming etc, its all there, electrics need sorting, have a look at the picture, see what u think, I know its gonna cost, u do it because u love the bike lolpost-137260-0-80924300-1326688017_thumb.post-137260-0-96254200-1326688090_thumb.post-137260-0-22642300-1326688121_thumb.post-137260-0-88269500-1326688414_thumb.post-137260-0-41421800-1326688467_thumb.post-137260-0-78866400-1326688493_thumb.post-137260-0-19622400-1326688534_thumb.

  10. Hi All

Just got back from Pattaya Bankok hospital, saw the LAP BAND expert who told me I have to have the band removed!

The band is eating into my stomach, its called "lap band erosion" potential very serious.

The band is also poking through the colon, surgeon says in twenty years he has never known this (could only happen to me)

    Options.......

1 Have the band removed here in Thailand cost of 6,000 UK Pounds !!!!! stay in hospital 3-4 days Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

2 Come back to UK BUT it wont be a emergency as I am in no pain or in need "urgent medical treatment" The hospital WONT do any corrective surgery, could go private no problem to have the band removed dont know the cost but was 7000 uk pounds

So OK, I could come back to UK until I start feeling really ill, then go in as an "medical emergency" and have the band removed free via NHS How long do I have to wait. maybe never start to feel ill. What a bloody dilemma.

3 If I start feeling unwell, i.e. pain, discomfort, fever etc than that is a big problem, could be serious infection etc caused by the Lap Band erosion . I could be seriously ill in a short period of time. days ?

If I come back to UK they WONT do the "corrective surgery", The Thai consultant couldn't say how long before this becomes a real problem, its impossible to predict, could be days, weeks, months etc.... IM REALLY CONFUSED !!

What do I do ???, I feel like I am a walking time bomb if you get my drift. Very unhappy, between the devil and the deep blue sea !!

I feel fine, fit. and this is a kick in the teeth for sure.

    Need help/Advicencrying_face.gif

  12. There are rude officials in every country of the world.

    Why pick on Thai immigration?

I find married person VISA extension to be the best way in Thailand, as you never even meet the official who grants it (all done centrally in BK).

Fully accept there are rude/ arrogant people in all walks of life. Are we not allowed to comment on ANY body who has this "trait" officials or not ?

This was MY expirence at IO maybe not yours. I am not "picking" on any body just stating fact.

  13. but I dont work in a Immigration office, just a thought eh, I wouldnt have thrown the passport either, or is that because she is thai its OK ? ??

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

How many languages an Immigration officer in Thailand should speak?

I hope you're not one of these people(generaly english speaking people) that thinks everybody should speak English everywhere.

It's not ok to thrown you passport, and I am surprised she did, I deal with this lady for many years, never had to complain about her, never saw her acting like that, some very bad day or something or somebody irritated her, but still not an excuse but

as English is not her native language she may use some words in the wrong way.

    I speak Flemish

and French and some German and English, I tried to learn Thai, maybe I am to old or drink to much Leo, but it doesn't work anymore, so I am very pleased I can and are allowed to communicate in English with her as with the other officers.

Im sure that it isnt unreasonable for an IO to speak a "little" bit of English, I would suggest that 85 percent of "customers" whom she has dealings with will have a "reasonable" understanding of the English language, it is, the most understood language in the world. Would you not agree? My point was she was rude, there is NO excuse for that. Nothing at all to do with me not speaking her language.

  14. You can go any time you want. Always a good idea to do when applying for the extension. Saves going back.

I am slighly confusedn i want to fly back to UK on 14th April 2012 and stay for 10 days i go to immigation on say 10TH April 2012. Whei re-enter Thailand I will have aother tear exrension put in my passprt ?

    Cheers

    paul

  15. You have a 12 month extension of stay, not a Visa.

If you wish to leave the country you need a Re Entry Permit from Immigration. Without this your extension would end on the day you left.

1,000 Baht for a single and 3,800 baht for a multi.

Also after 90 consecutive days in the Kingdom you have to report your address to Immigration.

Many thanks for advice, should i go the day before my flight ?
