  1. I once asked a Geography Lecturer this and he didn't know so he went off and did some research and told me that the last time snow had been recorded as falling in Thailand was at Phu Kradung in Loei Province in January 1987.

He went on to explain that although it can get cold enough to snow in Northern and NEastern Thailand nearly every year, the lack of moisture in the air makes it as rare as rocking horse shit.

Yep it does get Cold there in Phu Kradung. 14c at night now already, January it will get down to single digits, and up in the mountain it may well hit Zero.

    I love that area. :o

  2. I bought my Pick up in January. I also put it in my name, just like any farang can.

Have they changed the rules now?

I thought that you could only buy a vehicle in your own name if you have a non immigrant visa.

No Loong, that was not the case, I only had a 30 day stamp, I registered it in Pattaya in my name.

You still need a non immigrant for a License though, although I extended my license for a year the same day with the 30 day stamp. But I did have a Non Imm when i first got issued with it, and I would have got a 5 year extension if I had another non immigrant visa, instead of the one year I got.

  3. James I was looking at the Teak house last time I was there, I understand there is a lot of Land that goes with it also...1.4 Million eh, does it really need a lot of work doing ? That place could be turned into a resort, nice views and a really nice area.

I am gonna be looking around in a few weeks then make a decision.

I wanted to buy the House from Nangyai the woman next door to Porn, I would have been interested in porns house if it was for sale too.

James, wait till a few of the guys realise that you bought the house as part of a dowry......hahaha............boy are you in for some ThaiVisa lectures....hehehe, :D

James start a new thread about what you have bought. It will be funny to see the reactions of the hard nosed cynical ThaiVisa members. :o

I am looking forward to coming up very soon. Getting cold at night now I hear.

    See you later James.

  4. An Update -

So I wonder how many girls named Nam are working in Pattaya??

If your gf soon tells you that she will "be away for six months camping in the forest (going to rehab) but please still keep sending the cash", then email a photo of her to me and I'll see if it matches "our princess" :o

    Thanks for all the advice

    seeya

    James

Hiya James, glad to see things worked out ok. I will pop in when I am in Hoi Pai soon. Hope your house is still standing, and you are busy in the fields. :D

Best of luck to you and Khim,

    M.

  5. Loads of them would, especially if they only cost 5,000 Pounds each.

But 150,000 Pounds is a different matter.

Ok how many would buy their gf a car after a few months. That's similar amount of cash and many farang buy a pick up as well as land for their gf.

It's a well known fact that many farang forget to pack their brains when they come to Los

I bought my Pick up in January. I also put it in my name, just like any farang can.

It never used to be the case in Thailand some years ago, but it has changed now. For a car or motorcycle that is, look at it this way, at least you can drive away from the house and land. :o

But I don't think I would be buying too much if I did not live in Thailand. :D

  6. I can understand people that do not like a country staying in that country for work, many people that work in the Middle East for example do not really like it, but the money is good. I am in a similar situation in Japan. Money.

But I cannot understand people staying a country that they do not like for any other reason than well paid employment.

I do understand the bitching at times, cos up until 18 months ago, I had not really worked for 12 years, and I lived in Thailand during that time. And I used to complain about this and that and the other also. I just got used to it and then I started to find the bad points instead of only looking at the good.

It is probably since I have beeen working approx 2 months on, 1 month off that I appreciate Thailand more, I have travelled a lot in the past and still do now, but Thailand is a pretty good place to live. It is far from perfect and i suppose your location in Thailand would influence your opinion on the place.

I have spent 3 months in the country of my birth, England, in the last 14 years.

Lived in Thailand since 1990, it's the place I call home and I like it. :o

  7. Oh, and by the way, for my girlfriend's sister's birthday, I got her some scented soap and candles from the Mall (she's already got a bank account).

Good man, I hope she liked them.

You have informed everybody that your Girlfriends parents have more money than you, if you are an English teacher in Bangkok, that is no great feat. :o

  8. .

I've noticed driving along Beach Road that there are a lot of police on the wrong way junctions pulling over any farang driving on to Beach Road.

Learn from my mistake - take the extra two minutes to drive up the Soi and down the next one rather than get stuck with a  400 baht fine and a one hour wait in Pattaya police station.

Many Thai people also get fined in this way, not just farangs, and what was you doing driving down a one way street the wrong way?

AndFarangs call Thai drivers bad. :o

Lucky you did not hit another motorcycle or a pedestrian on your trip down the one way street the wrong way.

He was not a jobsworth at all, you was dumb. :D

  9. If you're Thai, you will no doubt be forced to stay in this sadly and rapidly

deteriorating nation. But if you're farang, you can leave. And after seven years

of this utter nonsense, I am.

    Good-bye.

    Disillusioned

    BANGKOK

Just sounds like another Farang that came to Thailand with some money, wasted it sitting in a Bar for 7 years and now has to go home.

Seen lots like that over the Years. They blame Thailand for their own failures in life.

    Goodbye.

  10. Most people don't build their own houses in Western countries. Unless of couse the learned doctor knows something I don't.

I think it is because they cannot afford to do it in the west, its just too expensive.

But there are quite a few Farangs earning enough money in one month to buy land and have a small house built in Thailand.

I guess it just depends on the person, everybody is different, I have known Farangs losing houses in pattaya, expensive houses too, no doubt Professor Fart also knows of people in the same situation.

But I knew many many people that lost houses that they had paid for to their wives when they got divorced in UK also, I was one of them. :o

  11. I hold the misconception of sharing responsibility for the wellbeing of others, not only by upholding my vision, but also by supporting punitive actions to limit others' "choice of experience".

I urge everybody to be "a bug up someone's arse" who buys hilltribe boys in Nothern Thailand and rents them out to western paedophiles in his villa, and also to brothel owners chaining girls to a bed and taking money for letting them be used. I also have an urge to interfere with the liberty of individuals who make it their "choice of experience" to sexually abuse underage relatives in their family or in their care in educational institutes.

    Round of Applause. :o

  12. You may feel so outraged at what I say that you find yourself with a strong urge to call up Dr. John so that he can crucify me in Pattaya (not for engaging in prostitution but from his writings it seems that it would be an enjoyable pastime for him nonetheless).

time to fly, but I will return.   :D

haha.............reminds me of the scene from ' The life of Brian '....Crucifixtion. :o

  13. So basically you are saying that a Western boyfriend in the family is the new Thai social services?

Not at all, but as I can afford to give a little to make someones life better, then I will.

The younger Sister will go to University if she wants to, and i hope she does. I will gladly pay the fees, something her Parents could not do.

I have also given some Farang friend of mine a 60,000 baht loan once and I never saw the <deleted> again, and I have lost count of the 500 and 1000 baht loans over the years to other " Filthy Rich " and " Wealthy " farangs, that just happened to be waiting for their money to be sent over.............yea right.

I used to give my Mother money, she was English, not poor, but the money I gave her on my Visits certainly made her life a little easier, and did not actually ruin me financially either.

I gave because it was my Family and because I could afford to, just as I would do now if I considered it to be just. :o

  14. The very structure of society in Thailand has managed to care for its weak, poor and elderly for centuries before you Western Knights in Shining armour came along to take over the role of protector of the old and frail of Thailand.

When I was married to a French woman, we used to buy them some gifts when we went to see them, and if they ever needed something that we could provide, we would help in any way that we could.

When my Mother was alive, I would also always give her some money when i visited her.

You seem to have a problem with how people choose to spend their money.

It is usually poorer people that have this hang up. The rich usually do not give a toss how others spend their money.

But as you have told this forum that you are " Filthy Rich " and " Wealthy " I suppose it has to be true. :o:D:D:D
