They're also free to raise or lower prices if they want. But if they do it as a group, it's illegal. -

Elon Musk's X Sues Advertisers Coalition Over Boycott
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
If one advertiser decides not to spend on X, that's legal. If they independently decide not to advertise on X, that's legal. If they band together that's collusion, and it's illegal. If they band together to squelch free speech, that's dangerous. Glad to see that Rumble has joined the lawsuit.- 49 replies

Nonbinary and Transgender Nikki Hiltz in the Paris Olympics
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Sure. It's an indeterminate pronoun. But not a singular pronoun. When you're referring to a specific individual, it's dorky and being rammed down our throat. Edit: Though I miss going to work, I'm glad I was able to complete my career without ever once going to pronoun sensitivity training. -
Question about a transit in BKK.
impulse replied to PhoSai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good topic. I hope the OP posts back with his results. And I hope someone who's been there, done that can help him out here. If any airline has a record of a blacklist, I suspect the Thai national airline would. But you say it's a different passport with a different PP number (I assume) and Thai airlines may not have the ability to match them up like Immigration can. (Or maybe they do, by name and birthdate) If you don't get any answers here, I'd suggest you call them. Best of luck. -
Mystery Deepens: Missing British Man Boarded Flight from Thailand
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Has there been any update in the Real World news? The most recent I could Bing up was from 8/4. (Google's blocked here) It seems as if the Finnair information came from some Thai poster? A user, identifying themselves as Pol Rithikrai, who works for Thai immigration confirmed Simon had boarded Flight no. AY142 on July 26 at 05:46 am. But despite the crucial update, Simon's whereabouts in Finland are still unknown. The article is dated 8/6, but the mother's update is dated 2 days earlier. Maybe someone can find more recent info that I can't open from China? https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/mum-brit-missing-thailand-issues-33403276 Edit: Yeah, I know it's the Mirror. I'm hoping someone can set me on the straight and narrow... -
I'd kick in a few baht to a GoFundMe to buy decent CCTV cameras. I watched the video a few times, and can barely see what happened at the vehicle. I'm not going to comment about the ladies dropping the poor guy on his head. Has there been any update on his condition? (Pardon my laziness, not wanting to wade through pages of trolling...)

Nonbinary and Transgender Nikki Hiltz in the Paris Olympics
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
From the 18th century, until the mid 20teens, it was frowned upon. The AP Stylebook has accepted such functions of they, them, and their since 2017, and Merriam-Webster made the singular they its word of the year in 2019. Only in the 18th century did grammarians declare that the singular they was invalid, their reasoning being that a plural pronoun can’t take a singular antecedent. https://www.mentalfloss.com/posts/singular-they-history If you used it at my 1970s high schools, you'd have been considered a dork, and graded down on English scores. Not to mention the increased chances of a wedgie. Edit: But the world was simpler back in the '70s. -

All those pronouns and gender swaps had me bamboozled, too. But I think this is the key from the OP: Hiltz, assigned female at birth, So I'm wondering what the big deal is, that even deserved a mention. She's gay sometimes and apparently presents like a dude sometimes. And has strong opinions on transgender issues. Big whoop. Unless, of course, she is XY. But that's not what the OP says. -
Bet'cha $10 TESLA didn't want to fall afoul of the FCPA. Especially not with Elon on the hot seat for supporting free speech and Trump. Those are the guys the partisan DOJ comes after.

I didn't lecture anyone. I just said they'd make a good team. Be a peach and scroll through these criminals pardoned by Obama count them for me... It's too many for me to count. https://www.justice.gov/pardon/pardons-granted-president-barack-h-obama-2009-2017 Let me know what number you come up with. -
Elon Musk and Sir Keir Starmer Clash Over 'Civil War' Remarks
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Musk sure is making the news a lot... https://apnews.com/article/x-sues-advertisers-unilever-cvs-mars-orsted-673d1ae88e9fb0ca5b170d238739453e And if you look at unapproved sources, he's promising an in-depth interview with Bad Orange Man on Monday. I wish him well on his anti-trust lawsuit, and the Trump interview will be interesting, if they can make it happen. Regarding his row with 2 tier Keir, perhaps Musk should disable Starlink over the UK for a few hours... Or maybe just over London... Call it a public security measure, to keep the right wing thugs from scheming over his satellites. Lest he be charged, like so many others. -
Not doubting you, as that sounds stupid enough for the globalist knobs in charge. But do you have a link, to look at the details?

Mystery Deepens: Missing British Man Boarded Flight from Thailand
impulse replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm sure the cops could. But then, they should be bound by privacy laws, not to release his personal information without his permission. Even to his family. He is of age... -
She doesn't want to give the Dem Elite an excuse to throw her under the bus at the DNC Convention. Better to keep her mouth shut and let people think she's a idiot, than to open her mouth and prove that she is. She's incapable of expressing a lucid thought without someone else writing it for her. If she screws up before the Convention, they could pull her as easily as they pulled Biden. I'm still looking for an HRC surprise. You know, to save democracy. Edit: My biggest fear is that they'd offer her a consolation prize to smooth things over. The next Supreme Court opening.

What if I don't want my family to know? They don't have a right... I do agree the airline should release the information to the authorities. But not to a media source, nor the family. The fam should be working through the authorities, and even then, the authorities should respect privacy rights.- 187 replies

Kamala Harris selects Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be VP running mate
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Well, they do make a good team. Walz let Minneapolis burn for 3 or 4 days in the 2020 Summer of Love and mostly peaceful city burnings before calling in the Guard. Then Kamala raised bail money for the burners. https://www.minnpost.com/metro/2020/05/what-we-know-about-the-events-surrounding-george-floyds-death-and-its-aftermath-a-timeline/ The link is a good look at what "mostly peaceful" looked like. -

Deleted, by me. My bad. Got the pronouns confused... It's all new to me. Seems that she's just gay, on some days. Hardly seems newsworthy. -

Here's a quick question... How many Brits were banged up last year for social media posts, and how many Russkies? I'd publish the link to the answer, but it would be an unapproved source and deleted. So I ask as a question. Answers on a postcard, please... -
Elizabeth Lund, who has served as Boeing’s senior vice president of quality — a new position — since February... Lund said the company has significantly increased training since the Alaska Airlines blowout, and that the company is trying to improve quality as it focuses on “lean manufacturing.” “Can I make one suggestion?” safety board member Todd Inman interjected. “Sure, please,” Lund replied. “Stop talking about leaner and quality and start talking about safer manufacturing,” Inman said. Spirit Senior Vice President Terry George said that five years ago, 95% of the company’s factory employees had worked with sheet metal, but now it is 5%. https://apnews.com/article/ntsb-boeing-max-blowout-alaska-airlines-22059af5e451a0f1047c955e1dcc9a5e There were Spirit employees at the Boeing plant, but communication between the Boeing and Spirit workers on the floor of the Boeing factory wasn’t good, according to another interview transcript released Tuesday. “Well, basically we’re the cockroaches of the factory,” one unidentified Spirit employee told NTSB investigators. And a Boeing team captain at the 737 factory told investigators of problems of low employee morale and high turnover. “We have a lot of turnover specifically because, you know, this can be a stressful job, you know,” https://edition.cnn.com/2024/08/06/business/boeing-737-max-blowout-ntsb-hearings-day-one/index.html

Good dentist in Bangkok (but not a factory-like clinic)
impulse replied to JTXR's topic in Health and Medicine
I had an emergency molar extraction done at Bumrungrad Hospital dental section just last week. Excellent experience, and they got me in same day. No appointment, though I recommend you make one if you're not in an emergency situation. That's after one of those heavily advertised "International Clinics" kept me hanging most of the morning trying to find a doctor to come in that day. The best they could do was "tomorrow late evening". So I hopped on the BTS and walked in at Bumrungrad. About 7100 baht, all in. Not cheap, but I would have happily paid twice that to get that tooth out on the day. -
So now you admit the ‘far right’ thugs. There’s progress! The media sure seems to think so. Me, not so much. Sure, there are thuggish outliers. But mostly, it's people seeing their culture being destroyed, their girls being groomed, and their money (some of which used to subsidize keeping warm in the winter) going to support guests they didn't invite into the country.
