Blow to Biden as poll shows Trump in lead for 2024 presidential election
It just keeps getting better and better for ol' Joe... Wasn't it a Dem strategist that said "It's the economy, stupid"? Carville, if memory serves. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-tops-opponents-biden-hits-new-low-approval/story?id=106335244

Quitting BOI job
OP, what are your Thailand plans after you resign? Are you planning to stay in Thailand, or leave immediately? If you do plan to stay in (or return to) Thailand, what visa will you qualify for? Quitting the job has implications far beyond just not working there any more.

Visa if you want to leave Thailand once a month
Assuming that means you'll be working in Thailand when you're not flying to the USA for meetings, you'd have more than a visa issue. I'm sure lots of people do it under the radar, but it'll be interesting to see how (if?) that changes now that they'll be scrutinizing incoming money to comply with the new tax rules. And if the revenue department interfaces with immigration. BTW, what's your age? Do you qualify for a retirement visa?

Nikki Haley launches presidential campaign, challenging Trump for GOP nomination
Implement a 52% corporate tax rate, and banana picking won't be the only jobs that the US will lose.

Golf Clubs-Left Hand.
Not much help today, but words of encouragement. I bought 2 sets of lefty clubs when I worked in Thailand. Neither set cost me more than $100 USD. Both good name brands. I had to regrip one set and some printing under the grip confirmed they were genuine. One set, I found in a street market, the other on Bahtsold. The first set came without a putter and I paid 2x as much for a Ping putter as I paid for the rest of the set combined, just to play in an industry tournament that weekend. Ouch. My advice would be not to get in a hurry and buy the first set you see at a resale shop, especially if it's an an eye-watering price or a crappy brand. They can be found, and priced reasonably. But you may have to look awhile.

Donald Trump's New York fraud trial wraps up, with millions of dollars on the line
Stop the presses... Trump was involved in a Ponzi scheme? If so, and I sued him for losses before there were any, the case would be tossed out. The state may be able to prosecute him in criminal court, but that's not what's happening here. This is a civil trial. For damages. When there were none.

The top corporate tax rate during Eisenhower was 52% https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/federal/historical-corporate-tax-rates-brackets/

Donald Trump's New York fraud trial wraps up, with millions of dollars on the line
There is no prosecutor in a civil trial. Just a plaintiff and a defendant. And I've never heard of an award for damages if nobody was damaged. Until Trump.

Donald Trump's New York fraud trial wraps up, with millions of dollars on the line
CNN seemed to hold him out as an expert... From the transcript: I'm going to ask an expert. Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, he's next. Of course, that changed after he went off message. I just read the transcript because they buried the interview so deep. But she sure seemed to change her tune and become rather rude dismissing him...

Donald Trump's New York fraud trial wraps up, with millions of dollars on the line
That's true. But not what a partisan AG says. We won't know what the law says for years, after the appeals.

Donald Trump's New York fraud trial wraps up, with millions of dollars on the line
One of 'em is a federal case. No NY law seems to be quoted. Not to mention, there were actual victims and losses. The other is a lawsuit filed by a victim that actually had losses. Not even close... I mean the law that gives the NY AG standing to sue for damages when there were none...

Just out of curiosity, how many times and against how many people has this particular law been used before Trump?

Custom L brackets, where ?
I'm going to apologize in advance for what's probably going to seem like an unhelpful post. Unless I'm looking for a large quantity, I've always found it easier and cheaper to modify my design to accept standard brackets that I can find off the shelf in the metals markets. In BKK, I'd first be headed to the metals market in Chinatown. I'm sure someone can chime in with the location in Pattaya or Jomtien, especially given all the marine work that happens there.

I know what I think but what do you?
If you look above the picture of the item ........ I'm surprised they don't have an algorithm that weeds out stuff like that. It wouldn't even require paying a human to go through them. Which, at Thai labor rates, would also be a good idea.

Is that case within the remit of the NY AG in 2024?

Plus, what's the big deal? If anyone's convinced it's a wind-up, don't read it.

Rant.
Maybe it's racist, but the ones that cheez me off the most are the idiot foreigners, because I know that they learned better back home. Otherwise, they would have lost their licenses decades ago. I'm more forgiving of locals that maybe never learned. I didn't see in the OP whether it was a local or a foreigner...

But that ain't gonna happen in my lifetime. So, based on US and OZ studies that found scooters to be 20-40x as deadly per km, I'm going with my 4 wheeler. It may not save me from everything. Just most things. All I can do is what I can do. What I can't do is change a culture. Don't even want to try. Don Quixote and all.

Agreed. When I was a kid first learning to drive, I was young, bulletproof and pretty oblivious to danger. But I was too broke to afford a ticket. So I practiced driving to avoid tickets. Which, not so coincidentally, was good practice to avoid accidents.

Call me cynical, but I don't think claiming a Thai girlfriend helped your case... Assuming this isn't a wind-up.

I don't move in those circles, so I have to count on input from experts. Reading the rest of the interaction, O'Leary doesn't seem to be a fan of The Donald. But solely on the topic of the lawsuit, he's pretty clear. This doesn't even make sense.

If that's true (and I'm not claiming to know), you need to remember that was before globalization and all the trade barriers came down, so it wasn't feasible to invest in overseas plants (and jobs and...) You couldn't build stuff overseas and afford the import duties even if you could get past trade barriers. Also, it was before shipping containers took off, revolutionizing international movement of goods. Today, if they implemented a 91% marginal tax rate, every company would move production jobs overseas. They'd take their profits in the low tax locations and their US distribution arms (because that's all they'd have in the USA) would just break even so they still wouldn't pay tax. Edit: And as I recall, Eisenhower inherited the high marginal tax rate. It was FDR that called in all his rich buddies after the depression and told them, "you broke the economy, now you're going to have to pay for the mess you made".
