I wonder how many of them took the $1000 and a free airplane ticket back home? Leaving more jobs for 'Murricans.

Must be state employees then. Because Federal workforce was reduced again. Saving US taxpayers mo' money every month since the inauguration. As promised. BTW, I came across this tidbit, for anyone wanting to duplicate the "California Economy" by voting for Newsom. (Or any Dem, for that matter- look at all those Dem run cities...)

I think it's news in that they're further along figuring out where the devices came from, and why. -
Report Thailand Tightens Cannabis Laws, Dispensaries Must Transform
impulse replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
IMO, this was predictable from over a year ago. When the dust settles, there will still be dispensaries and plenty of weed for sale. But it'll be dominated by the powerful families with the deep pockets and the stroke to have the connections to get the permits and hire the "doctors". Everyone else in the value chain will make peanuts. Just like smokes and beer and (for the most part) booze. -

Quoting Srikcir (because the quote function is broken): By who and what examination was conducted? Was it an actual dentist or a general practitioner doctor who is guessing based on what information? The mentioned Thaiger article has more details. Seems the family may have self diagnosed the dental problems because she's of wisdom tooth age. That said, there was some confusion and false starts even after she went to A&E. The Thaiger article is worth a read. I found it Googling Shalona Beaumont. There's also some UK articles, but those are blocked here in China. -

As I recall, Fox viewers were the only MSM audience that wasn't surprised when Biden tanked in the debate. We all expected it. CNN and MSDNC viewers, not so much. -
Back Kachin, Not the Junta: US Policy Faces Reckoning in Myanmar

Perhaps the USA should just sit this one out and let the Asians solve their own problems. If I was Thailand, I may cast greedy eyes on all that waterfront property where the borders as drawn don't really make any sense. -
Anybody considering growing their own again?
impulse replied to tomster's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
I've got no dog in the fight on either side. But I'm curious whether "grow your own" has ever come back to bite any foreigners that cheezed off their neighbors? Has anyone ever been ratted out and deported for it? -

As I recall, another big component of the land subsidence is sucking water out of the aquifers that underly Bangkok. -

Yup. That's a problem. My post above shows that Dutch GDP per square km is 13x as much as Thai GDP per sq km. Solutions that work in the Netherlands are unaffordable in LOS. Thailand didn't ignore or snub Dutch advice. They looked at the numbers and figured out they couldn't afford a Dutch style plan on a Thai budget. -

In 7 years of working in Bangkok, I never got a lab test to diagnose cough, cold, fever, aches, pains and other symptoms. They always gave me a list of pills to fill at their pharmacy and told me to come back if those didn't work. I'm sure Bumrungrad and Samitivej had the labs. But they never once swabbed or poked or prodded me for a sample. That's the difference between capability and reality. Edit: Just to be clear, that's not a complaint specific to either hospital. I was very happy with the care I received, especially compared to the care I received back in the USA. Where the doctors also sent me to the local pharmacy, often with just a phone call and not even an in-person checkup. -
Because it's not "suddenly". It happened hundreds of years ago. The people who did it are long dead. The people they did it to are long dead. I can't wait for the kerfuffle to be over in Ukraine, so I can go over and demand reparations for the turnip patches that my grandparents got pushed off around 1900. And I don't understand why anyone would ask me for reparation money for stuff that happened in the USA when my grandparents were on their turnip patches a world away. It's the same in Aus... They're looking for free money. And the politicians have figured out that's the key to buying votes. Agree to give them free money if they vote the "right way".

They could probably learn a lot, and maybe even recover some land. But can they afford it? Thailand's GDP/ square km is $3 million USD Netherlands GDP/ square km is $38.4 million USD You have to dig into the data and do one more calculation, but here's my source: Population density vs. GDP per capita, 2023 https://ourworldindata.org/ That's why 1st world solutions often don't work in the 3rd world. -

Looks like another good reason to keep some doxycycline on hand. It's also apparently the treatment for Anthrax, which has recently been reported. When I read stories like this, I recollect the times I've been sick and how long it took to get in to see a doctor, much less get an actual lab based diagnosis (as opposed to walking out with a bag of pills and "call back if these don't work"). -
Be aware of this even if you have Health insurance cover!!!
impulse replied to xylophone's topic in Insurance in Thailand
You've been paying for 15 years, and your cover limit is only 6.25x the annual premium? And you have a 50K deductible on top of that? -
Not Krungsri, but my K-Bank account was locked down when my 250 baht annual debit card fee became due and they declined the card rather than take the 250 baht out of the 200K I had in the account. I wasn't in a bind for the funds so I just cleared it up in person on my next monthly trip from China to Bangkok. If you're in need of the funds, I'd suggest calling the number on the back of the card. Good luck.

I'm glad we finally have a team that's willing to look at the data. Let the numbers land where they land. But we deserve to know. BTW, you may want to listen to very recent the Tucker Carlson interview of RFK, Jr. But it's long format, so I doubt many have the attention span. The snippets have been great, and the full 86 minute interview is on my list o' stuff to do when I have the time. Tucker Carlson Network tuckercarlson.com Carlson rubs me the wrong way many times, but he gets good guests to interview.
