  1. I would like to change to my immigrant 0 marriage extension to a retirement extension at end of my current marriage extension. Is this fairly straight forward or will I be jumping through hoops. I have come into some money and retirement extension are so much easier. Thanks for any info on this. I am assuming I will not need to provide proof of medical insurance since this is an extension and not a application for immigrant 0-A visa.

  2. I currently have a marriage extension to my Immigrant -O visa. I planned on changing this to a normal retirement visa or extension. ( confused about using current immigrant O for retirement extension or do I have to get a O-A retirement visa) Also if I already have a immigrant O visa with extensions would changing it to retirement mean I have to have Health insurance or not?

  3. A couple few years ago I obtain a immigrant O multiple entry based on Marriage from Los Angeles Thai Consulate. I only had to show marriage documents, and a copy of wifes ID and I lettter from her requesting the Visa. I did not have to have put any money in a Thai Bank or any Bank. I just paid the Visa and entry fees. Is it possible to find that same situation in consulate close to Thailand. I do not want a marriage extension, just the visa and multiple entry. I notice Penang asks for 200,00 to 400,000 in a specific bank to obtain this visa and Kuala Lumpar is very difficult. Indonesia consulate does not state the need for Money in the Bank, but one never knows once you get there. Just looking for some experinces with this closer to Thailand than returning to LA.

  4. Just recoeved a message from USa bangkok embassy that they will no longer provide income affidavits after Jan 1st 2019. I use my pension (USA social security) to met the 40,000 baht per month Marriage extension. So how do you provide proof of income to Thai immigration now? Also depending on exchange rate I may be below 40,000 Baht per month at times. Can one add add money in a Thai bank to make up for falling below 40,000 Baht?

  5. This is my first time applying for a marriage extension. Can someone advise as to what is needed ? I am sure this has been asked many times, but I am hoping for a up to date review.

    I have the :

USA Passport with iNon-mmigrant O visa good to July 5th

    Marriage certificate

    Yellow book

Tm7 form to be filled out with 2 passport pictures

Letter from USA embassy- income verification. I will be using the over 40,000 Baht per month method.

I will be applying in Pattaya Jomtien immigration

I understand I need a series of photos ( What types of scenes?)

Do I need copies of everything?

Is the wife need the first time? What does she have to bring if anything? (Blue book etc, etc.....

Do I need a witness or someone from her family to attend also?

Thank you for any advise or help with this. Hoping for a smooth first run

  6. Yes my wife and I have been back to translation twice American mis-spelled and my surname also was not spelled the same on Marriage Cert and Passport.. We must be dealing with the same lady. Obviously I am not paying 4500 baht. The issue will gently be brought up. Good luck with yours. She mentioned 2 weeks for us also.

To ‘THEBOY” They needed a translation of my passport. Not sure if you are ‘American” but if you look at your passport the says The United States of America as nationality Clearly on your passport. Not ‘ American"

  7. I Applied for a Yellow book at Pattaya City Hall the beginning of Feb. Lady at City Hall was very picky about translation of my passport. Had to go back to translation twice for very minor errors. She said my Nationality was American not the United States of America that is clearly listed in my passport. Argued on that and she gave in. Now she want 4500 baht for the yellow book. It is obvious I am being extorted here for a simple Yellow Book. Anyone have any suggestions concerning this.?

  8. I am a USA citizen my wife is Thai. We have been invited to England in Jan 2013. Wife has only 1 trip outside Thailand and that was to Malaysia.

Meeting up with a Friend from USA who's mother lives near London (Richmond). Friend’s mother has offered to sponsor my wife for visa (house. food, transportation, etc. Staying about 10 days. Any advice on the process or getting her a visa. Thank you for any response.

  9. Visiting Koh Larn on Sunday I was greeted by a large Russian flag that dated back to i's Communist era. It is common knowledge that Russians are coming to Thailand as tourists in ever expanding numbers and that Pattaya is usually their first Thailand experience before moving outward to other provinces. ( Phuket, Koh Chang, Koh Samiu etc)

The use of the red star and sickle was discontinued in 1991 at the fall of the Communist USSR (Soviet Union)

In several countries in Eastern Europe, there are laws that define the hammer and sickle as the symbol of a "totalitarian and criminal ideology", and the public display of the hammer and sickle and other communist symbols such as the red star is considered a criminal offence. Hungary,[3]Lithuania[4] have banned the symbol along with other communist symbols.

Of course you see the flags of many nationalities flying on the Beaches of Thailand. Norway , England, Sweden , Germany, etc, and off course the American Flag is popular for use in Bikinis, t-shirts, and shorts. These flags are shown in the spirit of “Fun” and are not making a claim.

I have to admit this flag flying on the beach of Koh Larn disturbed me. I felt a bit threatened by this flag. It is not the Flag of Russian now. Both the flag and the Russian National anthem was changed in 1991. The hammer and sickle has a threatening aspect to it. The creation of ‘Russian areas” such as Jomtien and Pratunmak areas, Hotels such as the Ambassador known to be virtually "Russian only” have increasingly isolated the Russian Tourists form tourists of other countries and in many ways from Thai culture in general.

I am sure the massive increase of international tourists from Russian will eat away at this isolationism and we will see a new more informed worldly Russian Tourist gradually appear on the world stage.

  10. Thank you.

It looks like Super Rich is the place to go. I will be in BKK for 2 days. It is strange --using Aeon ATM (minus the 150 baht Thai Bank charge in Thailand) gives consistently .2--.3 higher rates than the banks. Thought I would bring some cash this time-should have just left in my USA bank and drew in out at Aeon Atms.

  11. I am bringing $6000 USA dollars in $100 dollar bills into Thailand. I was looking at the Bank exchange rates for July 20th $5-$20 is 31.77 and $50-$100 is 31.27.

I do not understand the rate discrepancy. Can someone enlighten me. Does the 5-20 and 50-100 mean the bill size. If so Why the lower exchange rate for $100 bills.??

Are there better place to exchange the money I am bringing in that a Thai bank??

    Thanks for any reply
