  1. I currently have a marriage extension to my Immigrant -O visa. I planned on changing this to a normal retirement visa or extension. ( confused about using current immigrant O for retirement extension or do I have to get a O-A retirement visa) Also if I already have a immigrant O visa with extensions would changing it to retirement mean I have to have Health insurance or not?

  2. I will be renewing my 5 year drivers license soon. I will be taking my yellow book to Thai immigration Pattaya to obtain certificate of residence. I am renewing both car and motorcycle license. I am a bit confused about how many I have to apply for. I read you can just get one for 300 baht and the Dept of Transportation will accept a photocopy of that, which will cover both car and bike. Also I see for renewing a 5yr license that I do not need medical papers again. So I am trying to confirm these 2 points

  3. A couple few years ago I obtain a immigrant O multiple entry based on Marriage from Los Angeles Thai Consulate. I only had to show marriage documents, and a copy of wifes ID and I lettter from her requesting the Visa. I did not have to have put any money in a Thai Bank or any Bank. I just paid the Visa and entry fees. Is it possible to find that same situation in consulate close to Thailand. I do not want a marriage extension, just the visa and multiple entry. I notice Penang asks for 200,00 to 400,000 in a specific bank to obtain this visa and Kuala Lumpar is very difficult. Indonesia consulate does not state the need for Money in the Bank, but one never knows once you get there. Just looking for some experinces with this closer to Thailand than returning to LA.

  4. Just recoeved a message from USa bangkok embassy that they will no longer provide income affidavits after Jan 1st 2019. I use my pension (USA social security) to met the 40,000 baht per month Marriage extension. So how do you provide proof of income to Thai immigration now? Also depending on exchange rate I may be below 40,000 Baht per month at times. Can one add add money in a Thai bank to make up for falling below 40,000 Baht?

  5. II am a condo owner in La Santi condominiums. I feel like I have been betrayed and taken for a ride. Within the last year the Condo applied for a license as Condo/Hoteland  the building is now over run with bus loads of Chinese tourist. They have opened up eating area for them and up to 15 buses come their daily picking uop amd dropping off. The pool is mayham. If I would have known this would have happened I would have never bought a condo there. For those looking for a Condo I would avoid this place

  6. I am looking for a shop that repairs hearing aids and cleans them in Pattaya area. The hearing center at Bangkok Hosoital does not repair or clean. So I am looking for information concerning this. Past post concerning this are from 2012 and little help, so maybe something has happened in 6 years.

  7. Kasikorn Bank has changed it's Foreigner ID requirements. I was abruptly told my Thai driver's license could not be used as Identification at the Bank. Without any warning they refused access to an account I had there. Passports is the only thing they accept now. So I had to drive through heavy traffic to my home get my passport and return to the bank. A complete pain. They could have said from now on bring your passport and given me access, very abrupt and impolite and no warning of rule change. I am not sure if other banks requirements have changed. So heads up bring your passport.

  8. Is is possible to mail insulin USA to Thailand and keep it cold enough for maybe max of 7-8 days and get into your refrigerator. So cheap using Medicare with 90 day script and 3 refills for a yrs total of insulin for very very cheap using Medicare In USA.. Has anyone tried or been successful at this. I know keeping it cool for 7-8 days may be extremely difficult.

  9. Thank you for the replies. Yes, it is possible my wife asked the question in the wrong way. "Lost in Translation" I was surprised as I I was under the impression that Fascino's carried Lantus or novolog pens from all the thavisa post's I read. So I will try again in the way you suggested. My Blood sugar was extremely high and I had been urinating 6-8 times a night so my doctor wanted me on insulin right away. I also take metformin. I have however began a diabetic diet and with more exercise and have been able to reduce my initial insulin dosage to half of what it was. So I will keep at it.

    Thank you again

  10. Hello,

I was just diagnosed with Diabetis 2 while on a short trip to the USA. However I am retired in Pattaya Thailand. I am using Lantus solostar pens and one touch glucose monitor and strips. I can easily change to Accu-check monitor which seems popular in Thailand, but I am concerned about finding the pens or something similar. Tried Fascino Pharmacy through my Thai wife but the told her they only carry Humulin in bottles no pens. So I am looking for a reliable Pharmacy that sells PENS either Humulin or Lantus solostar at a reasonable price. BKK hospital Pattaya want 1750 baht for 1 pen which is ridicolous. If anyone has any info that can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you

  11. This is my first time applying for a marriage extension. Can someone advise as to what is needed ? I am sure this has been asked many times, but I am hoping for a up to date review.

    I have the :

USA Passport with iNon-mmigrant O visa good to July 5th

    Marriage certificate

    Yellow book

Tm7 form to be filled out with 2 passport pictures

Letter from USA embassy- income verification. I will be using the over 40,000 Baht per month method.

I will be applying in Pattaya Jomtien immigration

I understand I need a series of photos ( What types of scenes?)

Do I need copies of everything?

Is the wife need the first time? What does she have to bring if anything? (Blue book etc, etc.....

Do I need a witness or someone from her family to attend also?

Thank you for any advise or help with this. Hoping for a smooth first run

  12. Yes my wife and I have been back to translation twice American mis-spelled and my surname also was not spelled the same on Marriage Cert and Passport.. We must be dealing with the same lady. Obviously I am not paying 4500 baht. The issue will gently be brought up. Good luck with yours. She mentioned 2 weeks for us also.

To ‘THEBOY” They needed a translation of my passport. Not sure if you are ‘American” but if you look at your passport the says The United States of America as nationality Clearly on your passport. Not ‘ American"

  13. I Applied for a Yellow book at Pattaya City Hall the beginning of Feb. Lady at City Hall was very picky about translation of my passport. Had to go back to translation twice for very minor errors. She said my Nationality was American not the United States of America that is clearly listed in my passport. Argued on that and she gave in. Now she want 4500 baht for the yellow book. It is obvious I am being extorted here for a simple Yellow Book. Anyone have any suggestions concerning this.?
