  1. I suffer from 04:00 am anxiety - major worries about finances, relationships etc, etc. I've found that regular excercise helps. I've found a few sports that I enjoy and can do at my age, and if I keep fit the impact of the anxiety is much less.
  2. I've seen Pattaya Triumph arrange test ride days, Distinguished Gentlemen Charity Rides and support Biker Cafe events. They seem to very active. They also answered by query about the new 400 (arrives at end of year).
  3. So sad to hear this news about a long time and very active member of this community. I always found his posts to be informative and thought provoking, and he came across as a great character and a true biker. I remember a post from years ago when he explained that his screen name was a spelling mistake when setting up his account - but it stuck. Take care out there all .... and have a ride in his honour.
  4. Our trip was delayed, so I only submitted the documents this week and have booked a meeting at VFS for next week. So I can provide an update soon.
  5. You really need to try one. I know from trying on a range helmets that I have an Arai shaped head, and I find Shoei too round so they put pressure on my forehead. In general I find the locally made helmets too round too.
  6. Will never happen ..... we can only guess at the promises they've made to keep Thaksin out of jail, but I'm sure that not challenging the contitution and the laws protecting the 'establishment' will be part of the deal. Thaksin's very public display on arrival into Thailand was a bit if a giveaway too. But while I feel sympathy for all my Thai friends, I also understand there's some benefits from stability.
  7. I think if you want 1TB memory you'll need a removable SD card so you can add the 500 GB card to top it up the 1TB? The Note 10 is the last one with a removable SD card. As for buying, I bought a new Note 9 for half price on Lazada after the Note 20 was launched. It was cheap because it was 2 generations behind the latest phone, and I added the SD card to get 1TB. You can now find new Note 10's on line at great prices. You obviously need to be careful, as there's some scams out there, but I bought from an on-line shop that looked to have good/genuine reviews. It turned out to be a Korean model, but was easy to swap to English/Thai, and who reads manuals anyway. Could the slowing of your Note 4 be related to RAM? Older models tended to have less RAM, and I think newer Apps run better with more memory. WiFI and cellular Internet speeds have also increased with newer phones.
  8. Isn't that Lisa? Jennie is Korean.
  9. You need to accept that laws in Thailand are there to enable the police to make money, not for the purpose of controlling hazardous behaviours. For Ploenchit BTS you can exit via the mall (7-11/Dean & Deluca/Hotel) and use mall's escalator to get to street level, or via Homepro mall if going to the other side. For other walkways you'll need to learn the Cambodian phrase for "get out my f-ing way".
  10. I think she looks great .... but in the old 'Thaivisa' tradition, I need to add that my Missus looks better. (.... and she does, in my totally unbiaded opinion, despite being somewhat older than 26)
  11. Under 10 more like. For adults it's considered disrespectful.
  12. I don't think land will depreciate (unless you over-pay), as it's a finite asset. But with the restrictions on foreigners buying land, prices only tend to increase in line with inflation in Thailand, unless there are special external factors such as a new BTS line, or electricity and water arriving at rural land. So if you don't see any likely external factors, you may as well keep the money in an account that pays decent interest until you need to buy.
  13. My wife has had one bout of Dengue, so I wanted to get her vaccinated. Had to try several hospitals before we found one that had the vaccine. 9000 THB for each dose. Needs two doses.
  14. We all know the next PM will be Anutin after all the fake democracy charade is over. Pheu Thai's Srettha and the old guard Prawit may take the PM's seat for a spin around the block, but Anutin will be the next long-term driver. MFP was a nice fantasy, but unfortunately they were never really in the running.
  15. This is what I saw in Thaiwatsadu, but I don't have personal experience of this kit.
  16. They do sell a kit. It has a 'Solar pump' housed in a metal frame, together with a panel, battery and controller. It wasn't right for my needs, as I need a more powerful submersible pump for a deep well, but it would be OK for irrigation if you're not trying to pump the water from a deep well.
  17. If there's a Thaiwatsadu in range, they are worth a visit. They sell a range of solar panels, controllers, inverters, timers and pumps.
  18. We need to understand the fundamental principle of law enforcement in Thailand. The aim is never to stop an illegal activity, it is to profit from it. You can't apply on the spot fines if you prevent crimes. This explains most of the 'enforcement' activity we see here.
  19. No ..... I'm Spartacus!
  20. I prefer deodorant only to antiperspirant .... I think trying to stop sweat is a challenge in Thailand (and possibly inadvisable?), but stopping odour is my key aim. Boots currently have a clearance offer on Ted Baker deodorant.
  21. Lower (numbers) Sukhumvit .... so Chidlom/Ploenchit/Nana. Central Embassy branch is good, as mentioned earlier - helpful staff, not too busy. Soi 33 branch is the main one for special services, such as certification of inward funds for condo purchases, but it tends to be very busy.
  22. I wonder how many similar warehouses there are in in other regions? Anyone who's been to Bangsean at night, for example, will have heard the continuous fireworks until dawn. They are sold by a 'beach vendor mafia', who I doubt will have safe or licenced warehouse for the fireworks.
  23. Unfortunately the 'government' will just let the local people eat cake.
  24. There can be many reason for a perceived lower crime rate in Thailand, and perhaps the generally honest behaviour of most of the population could be a factor? But the effectiveness of the police is certainly not a factor, as their uselessness is legendary. But that's not a Thailand specific issue, the UK police are equally useless, as highlighted by news reports today showing 95% of reported crimes in UK go unsolved
  25. The Aetus Hotel ..... forced to close down 2 years ago. Not demolished, but legal notices and barriers at the entrances.
