  1. Woke waffle. So what new cause will she become passionate about next? Can't people form a considered viewpoint without needing to belong to a cult?
  2. Insurance companies exist in a moral free zone and they love to use small print to worm out of making payments. Many organised tourist trips included a pony ride, and local tour operators offer them in tourist areas, but few people would study the definition of extreme sports before jumping on a pony. In my mind 'extreme sports' is something like hang gliding, bungee jumping etc. Would they class a banana boat, surf board or a mountain bike as an extreme sport when trying to wriggle out of payments. Under advertising laws they should clearly state these limitations in their brochures, but if they were honest about what limited value they were providing, nobody would buy their product.
  3. Yes, everyone has a divine right to stink up the street and blow vapour in everyone's faces. And the apple scented, nicotine fumes add to the atmosphere in bars and malls.
  4. I use mine to check into hotels .... so no need to carry my passport. Also use it when a hospital or bank needs to see ID and when registering a Rabbit card for the BTS. A passport could also be used for all these tasks, but I don't like to carry my passport all the time, especially during Songkran and when riding my motorbike. The pink card is waterproof, my passport is not.
  5. Yes, it was partly the traditional values as she's it as her main responsibility to care for me, but for me it was the whole deal - appearance, intelligence, work ethic, kindness towards others, appearance, cooking skills, financial management skills, appearance, and did I mention she looks so fine. An element of those traditional values is that she makes an effort every day to look good, but reserves her hottest clothes for around the house, but dresses more modestly when we go out.
  6. I regret not listening to my Father. As a smart-alec teenager I thought I knew it all, then he was gone. He was a kid during WW II, flew early fighter jets, raised a family, but I never really listened to him. Just one small example: Recently there was an online discussion on an aviation site about which was the better fighter, F86 Sabre Vs Hawker Hunter. I should have had a first hand view on this from my Father, but I didn't.
  7. Brought me here - Job posting Keeps me here - A good woman
  8. Solo travels on the motorbike, road trips in the car with the Missus, plus work travel to farming regions in Central and North East .... very few places in Thailand I've not visited. Favourites include Chiang Khan, Loei, Chanthaburi.
  9. Makes no sense to me. Do the bad tourists take more than 30 days to create trouble? You either keep people from undesirable countries out of Thailand, or you let them in and manage the consequences. 30, 60 or 90 days is irrelevant to criminals, but could be a significant inconvenience to genuine, law abiding people who are able to enjoy longer trips
  10. I was in Jomtien a couple of weeks ago, and noticed a green Kawasaki Z800 with a loud pipe going up and down the beach road at stupid speeds. Probably the same guy, as the Z800 was not a popular bike so not too many about. It was an unusually heavy bike and was replaced by a lighter Z1000. Weight plus speed plus idiot rider is a lethal combination. And while I'm a fan of motorcycles, I do agree that anything over 500cc is just unnecessary in Thailand.
  11. Good start, but hope they have an effective emission cleaning system as burning plastic produces some unpleasant chemicals. Plastic reduction at source would also be valuable. There was some progress with this after the turtle got a straw stuck up his nose, but COVID set everything back, so now we get three plastic bags, 6 spoons and 15 straws every time we visit 7-11.
  12. The formula I'd seen was half your age plus 7. The plus 10 doesn't work too well for younger ages, and my woman just fits the plus 7 rule. Although there will be many other factors, including shorter than her man, longer hair, bigger boobs, plus it helps if she likes you 😀
  13. Looks great 👍. Well done!
  14. The UK and it's porous borders should be a warning to Thailand to be more selective about who they let into the country.

No problem in Bangkok today, no queues and diesel and petrol available. Just a sign saying they will not fill cans. But I heard from a friend in Chaiyaphum that they could not buy diesel and petrol was limited to 300 THB.
  16. My experience of Thai doctors are that they are basically sales people for the private hospitals. They ask just enough questions to match a service to any health concerns ..... MRI, tests, treatments, etc .... even if you just went in for an annual check up.
  17. More Labour government gaslighting. Any stats they can find that show illegal immigrants are not the problem will be highlighted in parliament to mask the real issues of concern to most people. Womens Day should have been about the growth of a misogynistic religion and the covering up of the grooming gang scandal, but instead they trawled up some stats about an issue where the government is powerless to have any impact.
  18. Partly - but lack of support for the people with incompatible phones, no screens available and illogical listing of countries in drop-downs are Thailand issues. It's not reasonable to assume every traveller with a valid visa/passport would be aware of an additional requirement. Also, I don't think any of the people I saw were doing 'border bounces' - they were probably tourists touring around SE Asia. By comparison, the online system for Lao worked perfectly. The TDAC App is not intuitive and it fails on older phone. In my case I had forgotten to complete it in advance, and luckily I could use my phone, but trying to complete a badly designed App in a rush, in a crowded visa hall, needed 4 attempts due to it's poor design, and for others the lack of screens at land borders is a critical issue. Issues like this will not help Thai tourism.
  19. TDAC at a land crossing - quite a few foreigners still having issues, me included. Quick trip into Laos by road, and I'd forgotten about the TDAC. Problem 1 - No internet. I'd switched off my data roaming, but phone kept connecting to Lao Com .... So no internet. Phone restart forced a connection to AIS Problem 2 - Second Traveller The form seems to expect a second traveller, but I was travelling solo, and I couldn't see how to get rid of the second traveller entry screen without having to start all over again? On third go just ignored all the 'red star' fields for second traveller and moved on. Problem 3 - Finding the UK in the country list (I wish we had one, consistent name for Britain and British) Problem 4 - For travellers with no internet or smartphone ....... I was OK, but there was one guy with an old Blackberry who was stumped, plus a lady who's older smartphone kept freezing half way through. Without any screens to use (as in airports) they were stuck. The Immigration Officers were not interested in helping them. System is almost 12 months old now, but still seems to be a few issues.
  20. Finding the right woman is key. A good woman will understand she needs to add value to the relationship. Keep herself in shape and look after her health and the health of her husband. Manage the house if she's not working, manage the housekeeper if she is. Mine's still looking hot, works in our business part time to help financially and looks after me full time. In Thailand women also know they can be replaced with a willing, younger model.
  21. The Police Officer bought the last cheese toastie.
  22. I use the latest threads view to see what's new, I don't look individually at each specific category. Also, every thread, no matter what the subject, ends up with a comment about Trump and degenerates into a slanging match.
  23. For me, the endless bickering about non-Thai politics has diluted the value of AN. I joined ThaiVisa/AN for Thailand related information and discussion, and if I was interested, I could read informed political debate on many other sites dedicated to international affairs.
  24. The OP is just a Troll trying to wind us all up. Nobody really believes all these grooming gangs members and benefit scroungers arriving at Dover illegally are refugees fleeing war 😅
