  1. All this nonesense will evaporate when people have real challenges in their life. And a combination of Russian aggression, environmental degradation and rising religious extremism will provide these real challenges in the next few years. People coping with homes destroyed by floods, fire, bombs or rockets don't tend to worry about pronouns
  2. So is it 3 months or 9 months ban after you lose all 12 points? Says both in the news report. And we all know this will just be used as another roadside extortion.
  3. I'm not on a Gov. Pension yet, but UK Bank to K Bank transers costs £9.50 per transfer and takes, on average, 5 days.
  4. Do you have control over the UK assets? Could you use a UK lawyer to transfer them to your Daughter? Then any divorce settlement would only relate to what's left in Thailand.
  5. Yes, Paddock have a good range from mid to premium price, and you can try them on to find one that fits properly. I bought an HJC a few years ago from Paddock, and just replaced it with an O'Neil. The staff seem to be a rather miserable bunch of 'senior' ladies who know nothing about bikes, and their prices are high, but for helmets or boots you really need to try them on.
  6. Ah yes, good point ..... that's the challenge - how to not sell guns to evil nut jobs.
  7. Well done to the guy with the legal firearm and the good aim ...... but the pro-gun lobby will be all over this incident.
  8. Now let's see the only law in Thailand that is fully enforced ....... defamation. "Put that man in jail and throw away the key for stating facts"
  9. The super annoying pop-up ad that appears whenever I access Aseannow has some video ads now, and these can't be closed until the countdown timer is finished - on some slower cell connections these cause my system to slow.
  10. There's new Honda Jazz rich, then there's new Ferrari rich.
  11. Vaping is still annoying ...... ..... and still illegal
  12. I've travelled throughout Asia, including Vietnam and Philippines, as well as in US and Europe, and not had any issues connecting to local networks. Years ago I had issues in Korea and US, and had to rent a local phone, but not had any problems in last 5 years of extensive travel.
  13. Samsung A73 - Dual Sim version.
  14. A hospital admission system based on ability to pay does not help. Even some of the 'Government' hospital expect some payments. Wards fill up wih people who have mild sysmptoms just because they have the funds. Symptoms of the latest variants are generally like flu, so people should treat at home unless they have underlying conditions.
  15. ...... yes, and cockroaches. Think I'll start feeding the local cockroaches tonight, I'm sure my neighbours will be impressed with my generosity.
  16. More likely it's a totally selfish gesture. I will make merit for myself by feeding strays and win the lottery.
  17. ....... thank you for confirming the observations in my post above.
  18. Interesting observation, and there's another side. When I chat to old friends back in the country I left 15 years ago, or when I make trips back there, I now find the 'Western' sense of humour to be cruel, mean spirited and unfunny. Perhaps the Thai culture of not making others feel bad has rubbed off on me, but Western humour so often serms to rely on putting others down. Cruel and hurtful remarks are excused as humour, when in fact they can be damaging or at least embarrassing to the subject. I find that most Thais have a self-deprecating sense of humour, where the but of joke is themsrlves, whereas many Westerners use humour as a way to show superiority over another person. I was as guilty of this as my old friends when I first arrived in Thailand, and my Thai friends have since said that they thought I was rude. I think I'm now more aware of my impact on others, and rarely make jokes at other people's expense ...... unless they are French of course.
  19. Yes ..... I do a regular weekly 'commute' from a house in Bangsaen to a condo in Bangkok. It's certainly do-able, but it's not enjoyable. I use a Versys X300 - light, agile, super-light clutch and quick enough, and after trying several different routes I now just stick to the Bangna-Trad highway. It's only a 1.5 hour trip, but I still make a brief stop half way at Coffee 123 (the coffee shop with the Fairchild C123 aircraft), just to cool down and rehydrate. Heat is the main issue, and after you pass Suvarnabhumi Market Village you're in heavy traffic for the rest of the journey into the city centre. As a life-long biker, it pains me to say it, but a car would be a much better tool for the job.
  20. So she's not suitable for the role in question.
  21. If you use your phone for business, you can often get calls from unknown numbers that you don't want to ignore. Plus delivery drivers/riders.
  22. Yep - no special currency or reason requirements unless you are buying a condo in your own name, and only if doing that, you need to transfer in foreign currency and convert to THB in the Thai bank, plus reason for transfer is buying property, then you get a certificate from your bank. But for buying a house for your wife, just go for best currency conversion option, and use any general reason for the transfer. Did the same thing last year ..... and yes, mine's different too, and I want her to have property in her own name for her future security.
  23. Yes ... Aseannow news and The Thaiger - both post click bait headlines intended to rile people simply to drive traffic and increase their revenues. And I wish the 'government' in my home country would try to put their citizens before immigrants and people who live under imported values, rather than the other way around.
  24. I heard that the Foreign Office was so pleased with the profit from selling the Embassy land in Ploenchit, they decided to compensate British Expats in Thailand by reinstaing the passport renewal service in Bangkok. So no need to use a postal service or the agency. Nah .... only kidding.
