  1. Wow. That sounds good.

So, on Rama 9 they usually do the big ones right?

Looking actually for the white model smile.png

they usually have one of everything on display

    in at least one colour

havent seen the white one yet though ,im sure they could order you one

they do test drives too on most bikes but im not sure if they have test zx10r yet

  2. Richard,

i was more interested in whether it is a sticker or is stamped/etched into the muffler?

My next quest is whether they all have to be tested in Thailand or will Thailand accept EU certification.

The logo needs to be stamped or etched into the muffler. Often a sticker will specify that the exhaust is according to TIS 341-2542.

Also not forget that the TIS 341-2542 standard only specifies the way a exhaust system is made, materials, corrosion resistance and material thickness. It doesn't specify the amount of maximum emission of prohibited exhaust gasses...

About the maximum exhaust noise, we have to compare the maximum Thai exhaust noise to professional motocross bikes which are limited to 94dB... Most exhaust systems with a muffler will stay within the Thai rules....

By the way if you interested I have the full TIS 341-2542 specifications available... http://www.motorcycle.in.th/filemgmt/visit.php?lid=256

So does anyone have a picture of an Akropovic exhaust with TSI stamped/etched on it?

Never seen a legal one yet.....

The Thai made ones like tsugiki are legal

I think but have yet to see an imported Leo vince or yoshi or akrapovic with a tis certification

  3. I wear caterpillar style work boots with steel toe caps, I've seen many people in hospital that lost toes and it looks horrifically painful

I don't wear gloves though, I tried it once and don't like the feeling of them unless it's a few hundred km journey where sunburned hands would hurt like hell tomorrow

  4. Lucky it was not my daughter and lucky I did not witness it.

You would be reading about me on TVF the next day otherwise.

No need for that. Simply hire a sniper to take the guy out at the re-enactment.

No muss no fuss, and your wife would still have a husband... That is what

    I would have done.

    too painless for my liking

id prefer him ripped apart by an angry mob

in thailand the judges may only give a token sentence if a family member killed him anyway

ive seen 30 days imposed for crimes like this b4 just because the judsge had to give something to

a husband who killed his wife when he came back and she was screwing someone else in the marital bed

this is a lot worse than that ............

  5. I don't think too much has changed in these bikes from 2009 so this might sway your decision.

    http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/8/3654/Motorcycle-Article/2009-Kawasaki-ER-6n-vs-Suzuki-Gladius.aspx

    Gladius wins here.

I like the look of the ER more but the dynamics of the Gladius read better.

You're entering the bigbike world so try to have good protective gear and use it.

If this is your very first bike with an engine, I would highly recommend a step through scooter or another small bike so you can learn what riding in Thailand is like.

A 600+cc as a beginner bike in Thailand might be a less than safe choice.

Not saying you can't handle it, but a big, heavy, and fast bike can add up to problems fast to someone with no riding experience.

Thanks for the review link. They do seem to like the Gladius quite a bit more in this review. Mainly because of the engine.

Yes I plan on wearing full gear without skimping on quality.

It is indeed my first bike, and I'm conscious of this very good point you raised. A scooter will not cut it for trips and going out of the city so that's out. A smaller displacement is also an option, which is why I was looking at the CB500F initially, a bike aimed squarely at new riders. I also considered the Ninja 300 but I prefer more "standard" naked bikes, upright sitting, wide handlebars. I don't see many options left, especially in the 'new' market. I have been driving a car here for the past few years daily so I'm not entirely new to road conditions but yes, a bike is different, it's something I'm very aware of.

    Thanks for your comments.

    er6n had a major makeover around 2010

it looks a lot better now than the old model that they reviewed imo

  6. i would probably get the er6n because there is every imaginable aftermarket parts available

    all over the place

the suzuki might be a little better built in japan etc but less places to get it fixed ,spare parts and mods etc

    kawa cheaper too

i would get a v-strom instead of my versys but i can get versys parts everywhere ,suzuki big bike network is

    still fairly weak

or just get the honda 650 ?

  7. 5-6k I could live with. 10k is pushing it, but may be worth it. I will have to check it out. Thanks everyone.

it was discounted to 8k from 10k in the end but they wouldnt go any lower than that

apparently they had to use a 3rd party shop to fabricate one of the pieces with a laser metal cutter etc

and his head mechanic had to spend an entire day making things fit etc

still too much imo ,i was expecting 5-6k too but you live and learn i guess

always always always agree the price first before you let them take a spanner near your bike :)

  8. most schools are run by brown envelopes under tables

the restrictions are usually publicised but in the last 5-10 years

ive not seen a schoool actually closed for this offence

the few exceptions are ones that had no physical premises

and promised to reach by skype or some ridulouous online means

does a person really need to be in thailand if he can only spend an hour or two a week on skype learnin thai ?

  9. Anywhere between 7-15 630ml leos a day

whether thats too much or not is between me ,my  doctor and the man upstairs

maybe its the temperature here but i find the alcohool metabolises very  quick ?

i can knock back 4-5  in the afternoon and go home ,come back out at 7pm as if have drank nothing ?

whisky and stuff do cause me to lose memory of the evening/morning etc so these are for party mode only lol

  10. 90kg rider on stock versys

I'm probably heavier than its set up for

But 20-70kg heavier than its set up for (gf included makes the 70 lol) as I read they are set for a 68kg rider in Asia?

It still handles great and ha never bottomed out but of course if I could make it better then why not?

Front and back are adjustable so it's just a matter of twisting a few things but make it looser or tighter I what I've been wondering........

  11. I use these and they work OK.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/T120-Greneds-Electronic-Water-Timer-Solar-Charge-RainStop-1Year-Warranty-/181280466530?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item2a35286662

I have't had to hand water my plants in 8 months.

Only problem is I used cheap hose disconnects and they cracked so water was flowing out on the input side.

No fault with the timer itself but make sure you use sturdy fittings.

Similar are sold in Homeworks....I found out yesterday.....900 baht. True Value have one with 2 outlets.....4650 baht!

2x900 sounds better than 1x4650 and twice the capacity as well!

And they have the audacity to call it "true value" :-)
