  1. I called Mrs T and a man claiming to be the plumber answered.

"She's outside the house turning off the mains water," he said. I was relieved that she'd finally found a decent plumber. However I got home to find Mrs T in bed with the electrician.

Electricians are a dime a dozen, but we really need a good plumber. Should I worry?

    T

That depends what he was plumbing .............laugh.png

  2. http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/price-one-plate-meal-go-5-10-baht-per-plate/

Some quick and basic info.. Thailand does indeed regulate the set food dishes.

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

ive heard of that before but my experience eating out 3 times a day tells me otherwise

maybe there is rules but they certaintly are not enforced in my area or even in the food courts

of major shopping malls like central rama 9

  3. The size of the main food dishes is simple to explain .. everything is going up in price. And the government regulate dished food prices to 35 b (not 100% sure on the price) so something has to give

    . Portion size!

And OP that's a very cheap Chinese Takeaway you go to in Europe!

Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

food prices are not regulated to 35 thb in my area of bkk

they charge 25 for a few greasy noodles i a bowl or 500 for a pizza or a good steak depending on the shop

as far as i know ,they charge as much as they possibly can while still retaining customers

new shops open and close all the time ,i went for a walk down my soi and found about 4 new food shops that werent there about a month or 6 weeks ago ,a shop opens selling a novelty food like pizza or steak and if it appears to be doing well someone copys their idea and opens another one right beside it lol

  4. How good does my Thai need to be??

Obviously better if you can't follow a conversation or ask them to slow it down and clarify.

that would be extremely rude of me.

She was blurting out to my friend first and foremost.

Obviously needed to vent it out.

I would consider it extremely inconsiderate to ask her to slow down purely for my benefit, particularly if she is in a highly emotional state.

..honestly, you would ask this of someone...???

EDIT: this is beside the point. The point is i understood, but had clarification in English too..as the conversation flow was fast.

The POINT is why would a woman allow it..not my comprehension of Thai when spoken fast..

a thai woman in her 50's is past her sell by date

no thai man would want it

shes probably lucky to have someone in her life for companionship

you should mind your own business as you dont know

his side of the story or even if her side is true or exageratted

  5. An English guy who lives hear me is always hanging outside 7/11.

This guy also goes in our local gym, where I've chatted to him a couple of times. He's friendly enough, late 40's and has spoken to me in the past about "going down 7/11 to see who's about".

And everyday on my drive home from work, there he is, sitting on his motorbike (which is parked and has its engine turned off) outside 7/11.

This guy is from Middlesbrough originally, maybe the people of Middlesbrough do most of their socialising outside of convenience stores?

I don't know but it all seems very strange.

probably low on cash and nothing else to do ............

  6. You must be reading impaired. "I had dialed a wrong number, reversing two digits." A calling card in the USA accesses a reduced rate line. You then have to dial the number you wish to reach. It was not automatic. Foolish is making assumptions about things you know nothing about. We've been together 9 years now, so I think I am safe. She also has no "brothers", or "sisters" for that matter, and her parents have been dead since shortly after I first met her. Never have been asked to pay for a sick buffalo, a hospital stay, or even her parent's funerals.

if you had dialled a wrong number ,how did her kid give the phone to a thai man who answered it ?

    his dad perhaps ?

you may not like that she has a bf when ur back in the good ole us of a but its very common in thailand

for girls to keep their first man and father of the kids at the village while having a farang in another location

who may or may not be paying the bills

You REALLY need to work on your reading skills. "if you had dialled a wrong number ,how did her kid give the phone to a thai man who answered it ?

his dad perhaps ?" This was posted by thamteak, not me. You really have a passionate distrust of Thai women. Just how many times were you burned before you learned your lesson?

i dont trust any suspicious women ,thai or whatever nationality........

ive lost count of the number of sluts ladies ive had who are either married or have a serious bf

who is away working or whatever

i dont complain ,neither do they but i just stay quiet when teerak calls and gets lied to etc

for me its just sex for entertainment ,but im sure the guy/husband theyre hiding it from wouldnt feel the same way ....

  8. That happened to me with my girlfriend (now my wife) while I was back in the states for a short visit. I was bothered until I wised up and checked my call log. I had dialed a wrong number, reversing two digits. I felt stupid, but frankly, It happens. Up until that time, I never really worried about her fidelity, and frankly, have never had any suspicions since.

nobody dials numbers thesedays ,modern phones you just scroll to the persons name and maybe even picture as well ...........

you guys are amazing making excuses for what is probably a lying cheating bitch

Well, numbnuts, since this was a landline, and I was using a calling card, there is no scrolling feature. You seem like a very cynical individual. Get burned in relationships a lot?

no because im not as foolish as you appear to be ,you just admitted you dialled the correct number and a man still answered

just dont come back in 6 months time and say shes ran off with her "brother" and all your money laugh.png

  9. so you dont know. i guess you didnt read the stories.

i did but many stories contradicted each other and im not in a position to tell the exact percentage of rice thats spoiled

well you read them and you still dont know so i'll probably look for reading material a tad more informative

let us know when you find out the % then..............farmers ,millers and the govt cant

figure it out but im sure you could ......... coffee1.gif

  10. I suggest the OP go eat gai yang on the street. Maybe the prices have risen 5 baht compared to 10 years ago but from what I can see the chickens are about the same size.

the sticky rice portios have gotten smaller that come with the gai yang

now they are very thin for 5thb or thicker for 10thb but basically seem to have doubled in price

as the "thick" packages were 5thb for a long time

ok I will take your word for it. Perhaps it's a thing called inflation...heard it existed in other parts of the world as well.

i think you will find its called hyperinflation

most things are costing way more than they did a year ago

  12. alcohol made from rice normally tastes terrible imo

ever tried lao kao or rice wine or rice whisky ?

also ,where is this mountain ? (rumours said a lot had been sold and the money sent to HK banks under the Yingluck govt ),the rest destroyed by rotting and fire and chemicals

also covered in bird and rat shit

would be interesting to know how much is actually left that could be used for anything never mind sold for consumption ?

  13. I also have the feeling they dont target bigger bikes as they do scooters.

Oh they do target big bikes, specially if it has an aftermarket exhaust, it's big fish for them; 1000-2000 baht. Altho mostly common in Chonburi/Pattaya.

in bkk i rarely get bothered on the versys or the bandit 1250

i think they do hammer the little guys on scooters more especially

    youngsters

i dont have noisy exhausts on either anymore though and usually they stop and admire the bike

saying that though ,if theres an opportuity to keep going i wont pull over voluntarily if i can get away with it safely .......
