Hi,
I'm forever reading or hearing about farang/thai relationships that end badly.
A farang losing all his money and possessions and TGF cheating with kareoke boy etc..etc...
I know that not all thai's are the same but all I seem to know is the bad experiences, which in turn makes me have that little bit of doubt about my relationship with an Issarn girl.
I have not bought any land/houses/condos etc..
And so far so good in our relationship (1yr)
Does Anybody have any good stories with a happy ending.
(not that kind of happy ending)
Cheers
Been with my missis 10 years this year ups and downs for sure but as normal as another relationship I've had out side Thailand so can't complain looking forward to another 10 + -10 etc ...

OK,
Sister inlaw is over from the UK for a holiday (she is Thai)
She has some sort of cleaning disorder or something.
As soon as we picked her up from the airport and brought her back, she went to the toilet downstairs and I can hear a scrubbing brush. She was freaking cleaning the toilet floors and walls.....lol This is like just after a 12 hour flight or so from the UK and its like 11:30PM.
Next morning I wake up and go down stairs, she is mopping the floors at 7am, this is when I wake up.
I admit, its nice to have her around, but dam_n, its kind of annoying sitting back, watching TV and there is someone constantly dusting something, cleaning the tables etc..
EVERYDAY she cleans both toilet, mops upstairs and downstairs, mops the balcony, wipes all the tables, wipes the kicthen benches, cleans the fridges (even the broken one). And cleans sheet outside all day. Sometimes even cleans the benches 5 or 6 times a day....
The only thing I think needs cleaning is the car, but feel like I am pushing it if I ask her lol
But man, she is great to have, but its annoying to move anywhere in the house and here the water running, something scrubbing or seeing someone in the corner of the eye constant cleaning sheet....
I told her to not worry about it, but she says, no its dirty and its ok she likes cleaning....
What the hell do I say to that? I want her to stop cleaning for F sake.
Seriously I'm looking for a cleaner to clean my restaurant salary 10k per month if she's up for it...

I guess polishing your helmet is out of the question?
Lmao.....

We don't have the right to vote, our immigration statuses are most often temporary, and our Western governments often don't seem to be in a position to really help with critically important issues. It's in stark contrast to how, say, the Chinese government handles any incidents with its own citizenry.
What I'm talking about is specifically the recent deaths of the two Canadian girls. But, also just generally, all the events that effect non-Thais in Thailand.
Are there any enterprising men/women out there who have ideas for how we can mobilize our numbers to help? It's obvious that within the Kingdom most of us are probably rather powerless, and I'm not saying whether that is right or wrong, but what can we do??
My thinking is simple, but perhaps some people smarter than me can offer other ideas and perhaps we can ACTUALLY STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING!
I think that in the case of Thailand (and countries like Thailand), we have to aim to have some impact on their bottom line. I was thinking of a website (hosted OUTSIDE of Thailand) for aggregating all manner of warnings about this country for Foreigners. People (who care and who are inclined and have time) from TV (perhaps) could make sure that there was a warning in every language was posted on the site. We could use something like lonleyplanet or some other heavily frequently travel sites and even perhaps Facebook. This is the easiest way for us to communicate and get the message out. I'm not talking about just moaning about anything and everything, but really focusing in on the issues that either disproportionately affect us foreigners or issues where we feel our human rights are being improperly trampled on (whether purposefully or not).
It just seems such a waste of life to moan here on TV about our fallen countrymen and women but to never actually properly mobilize. We ARE important, but as long as we can't hurt the Thai government's pocket as it were, we will forever be insignificant.
If we look around at immigrants to our home countries, and even if we look to other Western (though I'm not talking about only Westerners in this thread) immigrants, they have generally found ways to mobilize their numbers to effect better treatment for themselves. Now, I realize we are in a completely undeveloped country (legally, safety, politically), so that's why we have to develop different tactics than those used in other countries.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
Please let's get together and stop being trampled on here in this country. Let's coerce the appropriate people by hurting their pockets.
Sorry, if things are not too clear. This is my first post, and I'm a bit emotional about how we non-Thais seem to be just completely trampled on and with no recourse at all. It should not be this way in a modern world.
Good idea u got my vote ..

UEFA will not be impressed by this shambles. It's a complete and utter embarrassment for the Thai business community.
By the way, I'm Scottish, and I'm delighted England won 3-2. For the first time in my life I'm rooting for them as they have gone into this tournament with their backs to the wall. The pub I was in tonight in central Glasgow went ballistic when England scored the winner. Excellent stuff.
Moral of the story for England? Play with your feet and not with your mouths and you'll find far more
support across the World than you could ever imagine.
Quite unbelievable. Please make it a habit. Believe it or not I was more than happy to see you Jocks overcome Fiji. Maybe the first step back towards the top of the rugby world?
Sad to see the sorry state of Scottish football now and the Rangers crisis. Hope things improve for you soon.
Well said sir ....

I would have to vote No, not because I don't want to, I would love to be able to. The fact is that no matter how long we are here, we will always be outsiders.

Unlicensed cabbies heed crackdown
The Nation
BANGKOK: -- During the eleven days of the "Taxi Overhaul" project (June 1-11), a total of 16,278 cabbies applied for a public transport licence, or 1,479 a day, compared to the usual rate of 20 applications per day, Land Transport Department chief Somchai Siriwattanachok said yesterday.
Somchai said the project had been launched after figures showed many cabbies were working without a licence. The number of cabbies applying for licences this year until May 31 was 66,645 while the number of taxis registered was much higher at 102,575.
The office was also providing a public transport licence application service on weekends to accommodate the city's cabbies, he added.
Taxi drivers who work without such a licence risk being jailed for up to one month and/or incurring a Bt1,000 fine.
Somchai said that between June 1 and 12, 3,868 cabbies had been caught failing to comply with regulations. Most were unable to present a public transport licence, were not wearing suitable clothing or were not displaying a taxi driver's ID card in the cab.

Name another company and I WILL drop ubc/true and subscribe!I refuse to buy a box from GMM but in the same time I realize that I with action I loose my matches but that is my problem and not a GMM mistake. True proved to be a company who is only in it for the money ( which is also allowed ) Time to look for another provider and with me I hope many will do the same. Suggestions on alternatives are welcome
Astro seem to be good enough for me to be honest..

I don't like your prices and 5 other friends also bought in Bowin, you guys are charging over list and in my book that's a rip off, when I buy a new car or bike I expect to pay list or less not more.
Great, I'm glad you found a dealer and price that are right for you. Yes, we charge over the manufacturer's suggested retail price, the key word being "suggested". It's hardly a rip off though. If I can easily sell a bike for 85k, why in the world would I drop the price to 77.5k? Sorry, but I run a successful business, not a charity. Best of luck with your new bike. Let us know if you ever need anything.
Althought I agree I would use other cheaper dealers u do sound like a fair chappy ..

3 year relationship, no kids or marriage, and me doing a runner. Just leave a note (in Thai) explaining my rationale, with a sizable chunk of money in it to feel good knowing I left them in a position where if they wanted, they could easily get themselves setup with a decent life. Then disappearing never to be seen again. Other than a (rented) house full of furniture and electronics, we don't have anything together, and I'm happy to leave all that behind. I have two large dogs that will be coming with me, but that's all I care about.
I mean, if this was Canada I wouldn't even fathom doing it. I'm more than man enough to sit down and discuss things, but well, this is Thailand. I already know how the conversation will go, and I just don't see the point in doing it. That, and the last thing I want is some pissed off, deeply hurt Thai on my hands, who no longer has anything to lose.
So on a scale of 1 - 10, how big of an asshol_e does that make me?
If she had enough of you she wouldn't give a shit so I personally think your being nice so good luck to you and the dogs and get the *Snip* out of there ....

It's some state of affairs when you have to be accompanied by 10 armed soldiers to Parliament.
Seriously, people need to take a step back here, things could easily spiral out of control.
You seem to have forgotten that Khun Abhisit Vejjajivahad a Military security force of 200 soldiers, Command facilities and the further support of accommodation in Barracks from where he could hide and orchestrate 'we know not what' (Yet).
Those of us that love Thailand wait patiently for the elitist Thai to grow up and accept that their personal gravy-train off the backs of the proletariat cannot continue forever. Further we look to you to respect your Prime Minister and to behave like gentlemen in the House.
And you seem to forget why.
I do not think that anybody has poured HIV infected blood at Yinglucks front gate.
And if your talking about personal gravy train start looking at the shinawatra family and the other Phua Thai farming families.
How do you know that she isn't respected as Prime Minister she's hardly ever in the house.

The Fiasco continues in Phuket. GMM rep still asking for 6000 baht even if you have your own box, The box not needing to be activated to show the Euro's even with english commentary. True saying they will be (maybe) showing it from tuesday and the local cable company showing it on both Thai and Chinese channels. I love Thaialnd.
Are you saying that you buy the box and it shows the Euros without going through that 16 digit rigmarole? We've all been duped into a menaingless process! Shit I even gave them my address.
Never mind - its working fine for me now and 1,590 isn't going to break the bank. So I'll not get wound up about possibly having been able to see it with a wire coat hanger or bods who get expensive packages for sweet FA. Hell I'll even bury that thought that perhaps we digi-box owners might get some repeat content that others don't get so as to justify the purchase!
Well I paid for the box 6k all working thought well I wot to watch so heay it is wot it is Amazing Thailand .

PM goes to Parliament under high security
The Nation
BANGKOK: -- High-level security was arranged for Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra so she could attend a parliamentary session yesterday. This is the first time she has been to the Parliament since the yellow-shirts started protesting in front of the complex.
During her 45 minutes in Parliament, Yingluck was watched over by 10 soldiers from the Naresuan special company in addition to her regular bodyguards. Soldiers also provided extra security for House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.
Yingluck's arrival was met with cheers and applause from a group of red shirts rallying outside the Parliament building in support of the charter amendment bill.
However, the premier refused to comment on whether or not she backs the third reading of the bill, saying it was entirely up to the House Speaker.
While in Parliament, Yingluck met with Public Health Minister Witthaya Buranasiri and PM's Office Minister Woravat Auapinyakul before heading for Government House.

Don't ask her anything she is totally clueless ask him ask her wot an embarrassment....

So the floods have turned out to be a godsend for yingluk.A good excuse to avoid Parliament!
I wonder if Yingluk holds the Thai record for a PM skipping Parliament the most.
How will she perform in the next censure debate? Thaksin can dismiss Nattawut, who is likely to be targeted for his public relations company and its contracts with state enterprises, but he can hardly do the same with Yingluk.
She really is a disgrace and embarrassment as a PM I thought Thai,s don't like to lose face REALLY how many times as she and doesn't give a toss.... shocking !!!!

Pretty much where I stand in 15 yrs been back to the UK once to be the best man at my pals wedding and followed them back to the airport the next day as they were coming to Thailand for their honeymoon so I couldn't wait to get out of the UK and they didn't want to leave Thailand so even with its problems which seem to getting worse over the years I might add ,still enjoy living here and will never go back to the UK to live unless something drastic happens in Thailand but then it may well be Vietnam or Cambodia ..
