  1. I think you will find it's just off the Krasang-Prakonchai road. We have been to villages twice in that area so far, to find out about missing girl friends/wives. And there are a few Farangs scattered about the area.

  2. That was a better turnout.......................cost me a bloody fortune :o Great to see so many people enjoying themselves. Apologies from me, as I had to retire early, as I was a bit Mai Sabai yesterday. I opened the window and influenza. Next one already in the planning stage.

    First weekend in September 2009

But first some pics from yesterday

  3. Thanks guys, It turns out that we were just offered more deluxe accomodation by a relative that lives near by, altho I would rather do it on my own and never really liked being a 'guest'. At least we won't be sleeping on the floor of moma and Popa's house with the Thai tv blasting. I will try to check out the new entertainment venues in Surin when i can get away from the wife....any suggestions for discrete fun??

It wouldn't be very desceet if they mentioned it on here :o ......pop into the FC and we'll put you on the wide and bendy.

  4. Not So there. And as I now edit this after seeing Joe's post. I really must read fully before opening my keyboard. :D

    ASee what I mean..............................................I can't tell my Joe's from my John's :o

  5. Yes,Green Garden is out near Hoy Sanang. It's easy to find, you turn right then left the left then right then right twice then left three times :D. But it is sign posted so there shouldn't be any problem. Unless of course your Thai GF/Wife is showing you the way. Then even Hoy Sanang would be impossible to find. :o The sign posts start at the Hoy Sanang turn off on the Prasat road.

  6. I done the train from BKK once Thad and It was OK. Fairly comfortable and cool.

In conversations here, the one big advantage of the train, is there is little chance that you are going to die when it tries to overtake another train on a blind bend :o

Tell that one to the cows that sleep on the track and de-rail the bloody thing.

  7. Time is of no consequence as I am retired and living in Thailand. I have taken trains to Chiang Mai, Surat Thani, and once even to Butterworth, Malaysia (visa run to Penang) years ago when it was safe to take the train through the south without getting shot at!

I rather enjoy the slow pace of train travel and the 1st and 2nd class air-con coaches and sleeper cars are fine with me.

Maybe since the attack at Phonon Rung a couple months ago...it is still closed and under repair?

Phanom Rung, Muang Tham & Ta Muang are all open to the public now, although we have always done trips to Phanom Rung and always found it open. In this area Ta Muang was the dodgy one, but I sent a trip out Sunday, and they reported plenty of troops there, but all the better for photo's.

  8. Just call yellow pages on 1188........the English speaking operators are very helpful. Bye the way, wonderful Hotel. We always stay in room 2222 super deluxe. Last time it was around 2,200. Villas are 5,000 up, but they are all single bedroom.

  9. Ok you have twisted my arm, put me and the missus down for free beer and food. Seriously I would pay for it.

I really enjoyed the last time, dave the dude and bergen sat on my table. I hope they speak to me this time :-)

Martin I am sorry that I have not been over for food or beer. My missus wants you to have a raffle (she was the one that repeatedly jumped up for prizes last time, she loves anything free, surprisingly for a thai).

    Looking forward to it.

    You bringing Binnsy?

  10. Why are you charging? I bet you will take in more if you giving WiFi for free to drinking/eating customers. Just a thought :D

Because it cost me 20,000 to install, and mac-wheeler if you come and use ours I'm sure we can arrange a whip round to raise the 20 baht cost :D although occaisionly some people are on there all day.

We had one customer that used to do all his internet business in his parked car outside the FC, and when he was finished come in and eat. I sussed that one out.

Don't you password protect it? Some idiots still don't do this. I have a neighbor close by here in Chiang Mai that doesn't, I am sure that I cut into his bandwidth during some evenings when I'm too lazy to connect to my hard lined DSL. :o

I have a neighbor right next to my place in Prasat (30km from Surin) that has a PC shop. His WiFi didn't used to be password protected until he noticed that I was pirating it from him..... boo hiss :D

If someone wants to sit outside in his car with a laptop using my internet because he'stoo tight to come in and buy a cup of coffee, that's ok by me. We don't want him in anyway. And by the way.....................that has already happened. :D

  11. Hi,

The reporter is simply promoting the sale of the paper, being economical with the truth is the best way to do that, they all do it and always will.

Wrong..............................both reporters were freelance, out of Bangkok . I sat talking to them as they wrote the story.

  12. Most of us have come across the classic sentence with the word 'and' repeated five times, you remember, this one:-
"I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign"

Well, whilst researching something else (don't ask), I came across this which has twenty one (count them) consecutive 'ands' and it still makes sense, sort of :o

Wouldn't the sentence "I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign" have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?

Of course if you take the sign on the Hand brothers solicitors, Hand & Hand & Hand, put all the lot in the same as Fish and Chips, then get a Cockney to read it............................................wwwweeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllll

  13. Another incident like that happened at RAF Lynham years ago. Report below.

I well remember the Wg Cdr Spry version of Wg Cdr Walter Holden's ‘flight’ without canopy or flying equipment when, on testing the engines at the end of the runway at Lyneham, he found himself in full reheat and airborne. Managing to control what must have been a very difficult aircraft to fly in that configuration and after four attempts, he put it down safely with only slight damage to the tail end. The aircraft, XM135, is a Mk1 - the first Lightning to go into service. Its proud record before retirement following its last flight into the Imperial War Museum at Duxford on 24 November 1974 was 1,634 flights. I wonder whether they included Wg Cdr Holden's trip?

The wing Commander in this story was Court Marshalled I believe and also got a green endorsment ( Exeptional flying skills)

  14. Soruce: Reuters

The Guiness Book of Records has sent a delegation to Surin, to investigate a claim that Yorkies bar bill in the Farang Connection exceeded 1,000 baht in a single sitting.

A spokesman for the record book said" We are not taking this seriously at all, but all claims must be looked into"

He added " We also had a claim that the Petronas Towers were climbed in one minute by a blind Katoey, which is a little more believable"
