  1. Hi Guys - i am worried about my next application for tourist visa.  My visa history for last couple of years.....

Oct 2017 - ED Visa (Vientienne)

Oct 2018 - ED Visa denied (reason - applying twice in same calender year).  Tourist Visa granted instead.  Remark Stamp in passport - "The holder of this passport travels to Thailand often on tourist visa and may be refused in the future" (Vientienne)

Jan 2019 - ED Visa (Vientienne)
Jan 2020 - Tourist Visa (Kuala Lumpur)

Next month i am heading back to Vientienne for another tourist visa.

I am worried though i may be refused this time.

Do you think i will be refused (considering i have this remark stamp etc)?

Should i take financial proof, onward ticket, hotel bookings, etc - as was required in KL, or do Vientienne not ask for that?

I am 48 and from UK

  2. i went thro similar in '97 for possession.  the lawyer turned up on the day of court date and offered to take me thro it all for half my bail money. i agreed.

you need to avoid being deported.  being deported means being held in captivity, shipped up to IDC in BKK for putting on to a flight.  could take 7 days or so for all paperwork etc, and IDC aint nice!!

do you best to get your lawyer to ensure you arent deported - and everything is concluded 2mo

    good luck

  3. Hi Guys - early next year i am going to Kuala Lumpur to apply for tourist visa.

I am hoping for 60 day tourist visa, then fly back to hua hin.  On the application form for the visa it says i need to show proof of onward travel from thailand, plus proof of accomodation for the whole period i will be in thailand.

I dont have either of these, and my circumstances make it difficult for me to obtain these (i will be staying with girlfriend at her place / plus i dont know my future plans after the 60 days yet).

Has anyone been to apply recently for the tourist visa at KL who could tell me if they think i will have a problem?

If so, are there any easy solutions?  ie where can i book tickets / reservation that can easily be cancelled later?

Happy new year to all ????

  4. yes - the andaman sea is much better than the gulf of thailand.  i live in hua hin and have been fishing out on a boat here and we caught very little.  same for my friends when they have been out.

i have also been to the fish market at ranong on the andaman sea market and the variety and size and colours of the fish they catch over there is amazing

we have a fishing shop here and when the thai owner goes fishing, he makes the 4 hour drive over to the andaman coast.  get down there if you can OP

  5. I have just added these brackets to the windows for now.  If i want to remove them in the future i can fill the holes i hope and will look ok.  The uPVC window has metal in the frame, so i screwed them in with self tapping screws and i think it will make the windows a lot more difficult to prise open.  I will get some sort of emergency hammer too for each room, in case of fire, so the windows can be broken.  I put one at top of the window and one at the bottom.  I guess i could put more for extra safety, but i have tried opening these windows now from the inside, and with a good shove they dont move at all. Total cost - about 10 baht a window ????

A little ugly i know - but i think i prefer this to bars

One problem though - it means we cant open the window at all (this is ok in the bedrooms as we never open those windows), but any ideas for something similar that will still allow us to open the windows in the lounge on an evening?

  6. it seems there are no easy options.  if someone wants to get in pretty badly then they can either crowbar a window, crowbar a door, smash a window and then open it, or come through the roof space after removing tiles.  nothing is going to be 100% secure.

i put some cameras up yesterday, and will get a full system installed next week.  i put some camera CCTV warning stickers on the gate, so hopefully anyone checking out if we are home will see those and may be put off.  the cameras are quite large so hopefully can be easily seen.

I also bought some cheap metal brackets from DIY shop yesterday and will probably screw my windows shut for the moment.

i dont like those bars for windows as i find them unsightly.  plus we have 20 plus windows, so would be a big job.

to get in last week he used a crowbar and got under the lip of the window and prised it open.  If i could attach something along that lip that would stop him getting his crowbar beneath the window and thus not being able to prise it open, then that would be a great addition too, but i am not too sure what i could attach that could not be easily prised of by him before prising the window - but i will keep thinking

Thanks for help and ideas so far guys ????

  7. Hey guys - we got burgled earlier in the week.  2 of our windows were opened using brute force and a metal tool of some sort.

We have strong looking, hinged uPVC windows that have a handle on the side, and open outwards.  The windows have four locking points, but one of the locks metal sheared off, and the other 3 simply gave way, by the looks of it, and the burgler climbed in.

The windows are similar design to the one in the google image i have attached.

Any idea how i can make the windows more secure.  I was thinking of buying some brackets and simply screwing the windows shut from the inside.  I will paint the brackets white, and hopefully it wont look too bad.  The disadvantage of this though is that we wont be able to easily open the windows, without using a screwdriver to unscrew the bracket.  Some sort of quick release bracket would work nicer, though of course this could be released by a burgler if they smashed the window.

    Any tips guys?

  8. Hi Guys - we got burgled last week, so i need some cameras installing.

6 cameras will be enough,  preferably ones that can be accessed via phone, plus have the app that shows you when there is any activity etc.

I am presuming all cameras need a power supply, so will need to be installed through the roof space, and then hard wired to the server box.

It would be good if the cameras could keep working even if the power to the house was cut.

Can anyone recommend the type of system we should go for?

Any links to sets on lazada that will fulfill our requirments pls?

You put the supply pipe to your house in then get them to connect you to the main supply.

someone bought a very nice motorcycle or two with the profit from the neighbours job.

the thing is - we would either have to cross private land with the supply pipe, or put it around the perimeter fence, next to the public road.

digging up public land is illegal i would guess, even just for a small pipe.

private land would not be ideal, as there would be no guarantees for the future, in case of any disputes etc

    or am i missing something?

  10. Any idea from Pranburi Water Board how much we are likely to pay?  I will of course send the wife to do negotiations, but any ideas on charges for approximately 200 metres from the nearest government pipe, to our front gate?

The neighbour just said he spent 150k for a 170 metre run.  sounds pricey to me.

Is there a flat charge, plus price per metre on top?

  11. have there been many tests roadside lately?  not heard much on here about any.

last i heard was about three years ago and my mate was tested on the main road in cha am, whilst driving his pick up

was lots on sukhumvit before, but the cops had to give that one up didnt they?

Almost sure I've seen them in Thai Watsadu.

that's the ones chickenlegs!!  maybe they are so small, and thai watsadu is so big, that i am unable to find them!!

good man mate - thanks very much ????

PS thanks lopburi - it was pre bum gun / tap / shower unit that i needed, as the gunk is getting into the unit and blocking them up

those tap filters do look nice tho, and i may order some of them too ????

these look good too Jan buddy - but i need to but it in the pipework under the sink etc, so space is tight.  just a simple mesh that fits inside the existing pipe work be great (and easy to clean out when blocked up)

thanks for helping Lopburi - they look good, but more complex than what i had in mind

i was thinking more like this - but they are more flat - like a one baht coin.  taps / bum guns etc always seem to come with one included, but i need to replace them, and cannot find where to buy spares
