What about the fishing pier? Went down a few months ago and the pier was roped off due to covid. Are they allowing people to fish during the day again?
full access to the pier is possible

a mini van service used to run from outside Central at Udon Thani, all the way to the border. Then across the bridge, and jump on a local bus on the laos side

Hi Guys, after having covid, is it possible to get a recovery certificate from anywhere, even though my girlfriend and i did not go to seek any medical assistance?
I would like one for travel, but we did not see a doctor, and all we have as proof is lots of dated photos of our positive rapid flow tests.
I am guessing there may be some examination that could prove we are not lying about the recent recovery.
Any ideas how we could get a certificate please guys, as i dont want to be stopped at the airport and put into quarantine upon arrival if it can be helped

Can anyone recommend a good retail chain of jewellers to use?
we went to Aurora last week, which is in the main mall in town, but the choice was limited
Any other jeweller chains that have a good reputation?

In a 17 yr. teaching career in Thailand, I can remember it happening twice, and there may have been more. He will need an interim report card from the old school if leaving at a non-standard time. I would presume that she will have to pay full tuition at both schools for the "broken semester".
thanks Allane...... do you also remember occasions where pupils were refused to join during the year, and told they had to wait until the new teaching year started?
Is it done on a case by case analysis you think? -

???? I don't know the answers but as a student they should have the financial upper hand these days of decreased population - many schools are folding due to lack of students from my understanding. But if she is worried would think now might be a more practical time. Especially with a ring post within minutes.
yea........ sh*t gets serious this year ????

Is she Thai? I thought Thai women were smarter than to fall for diamonds and wanted gold due to the potential of resale as well as appearance..
yea she is thai...... i wanted her to buy a gold ring as that will always have good resale value incase we fall on hard times etc, but she says it has to be diamond

Hi Guys, the mrs and i are going to get married and of course she wants a diamond engagement ring.
I know nothing about diamonds or rings, and i think she just goes by how it looks.
Can anyone recommend a good chain of jewellers, or a jewellers in hua hin we can use, or even where to buy online, where we wont get ripped off and will get a decent ring for the money we spend?
How much diamond can we expect to get for about 25,000 baht?

Hi Guys,
my girlfriend is bringing her 6 year old son down from Issan to Hua Hin to live with us soon, and the most practical time to bring him is september.
She is worried that the school year is already well underway then, and that her son may not be allowed to join the school at that time, or will be put back a year.
Does anyone know what the rules are for starting in a new school? Is it acceptable for him to start at school, even when the school year is only half way through? We hope to bring him in time for the start of the second term, which starts september i believe

ask the new school that you wish to go to if it can be done. they should know

we have a few cannabis shops already here in hua hin. i havent been in yet, but my mate is sure he gets a buzz from the stuff he orders when he goes in there.
has anyone else tried the current shops that are popping up? is it because some of them are circumventing the rules and are actually selling weed with decent amount of THC in them from under the counter, or is my mate imagining that he is getting stoned / placebo effect?

i bet if you look on airbnb website you will see plenty of condos offering to you to rent for less than 30 days
and you could send the owners a private message and ask them for advice. i am sure some would help you
good luck. i just bought a condo and was gonna do airbnb, but put it on facebook and someone took it for 9 months, so dont have to worry about it for a while
if you do find out much from airbnb owners, post it back on this thread for the others ????

Was he in a hospital under care ? (was it serious) or just no symptoms and paid 90k and for how long ?
i am not sure you would call it "under care" rob, they had to take their own temps and BP daily and send results to the nurses via Line app. didnt see docs much i dont think. i think they were just held so that they were apart from others and couldnt pass the virus on
he said he wasnt too rough really, but felt like a bad flu. he did 11 days he said and complained so much they eventually let him go early. they even called the cops on him once he was kicking off so much!! his mrs had to do the full 14 days
this was about 2 months ago

Hi Guys - OP here
we are back from our jollies in issan, and i even got a ride in the truck ????it turns out the loan is not from the pink bank, but from a finance company that the car showroom organised, who then came to the house and did the paperwork. hence the high interest rates i guess. the mrs says this is how lots of vehicles are purchased up there, by people who dont have much cash at the time.
appreciate all the comments. i think calling the loan company and trying to rearrange lower payments / one off payment is our only hope of paying less on this loan. either that, or keep the loan going and at least the mrs has to think twice if she has a bad mood that convinces here she should leave me.
appreciate the good / bad advice guys ????

OP, lots of unhelpful comments here about your relationship with your g/f. My g/f was in much the same position when we met. Paying 5,000 pm for a car that was not worth it. Yes, I paid the monthly cost, for one year, then we sold the car and I paid off the balance, having negotiated the pay off with the bank, who were helpful. Cut your losses if you can and talk to the lender. As for the comments about 'buying your g/f', they are ignorant comments from largely bitter and twisted individuals, who have no idea about Thai life and culture. There are a lot of them on Thai forums .
dont worry Dr Tom - when i post on thaivisa i know what to expect (especially when a bird is involved in the story)
As Robblok said, the interest seems very high, but she showed me the app / statement with the balance last night and i am sure it is the farmer bank, altho the rate does seem more like a loan sharkshe does have land, so that could be repossessed, so we will have to be careful. Going up north with her (we live together in hua hin) soon, so as advised, will go to the bank and see what they can do. unfortunately she was getting bucket loads of cash before, and signed up for the deal, but that bucket had a hole in it now, and i am here to plug the cash flow ????
cheers for loads of advice so far guys - any more opinions are appreciated too (without getting too personal ???? )

Hi Guys, before i met the mrs she signed up with the farmer bank for a loan to buy a toyota pick up for her family for 400k baht. she is paying 7000 baht a month, over 7 years, plus 100K upfront
This works out as nearly 700,000 baht. It is now 1.5 years into it, and her remaining balance is 530k. i asked her how old the pick up is and she said 8 years old.
so, she still has to pay 530k baht for an 8 year old truck. i suggested, maybe she could just walk away from the payments, and i will buy the family a truck for 200k or so, then there is no more worries about payments. she thinks she may have to either pay a big fee to walk away from the payments, or she would be black listed.
As i say, her contarct is with the farmers bank, which is the pink bank up in issan i believe (i always thought those guys did loans that were reasonable)
What do you guys think we should do? I am paying the 7k a month at minute, but dont really want to be paying it for more than 5 years, but i also dont want her to be black listed
PS i dont want to dump my mrs - i like her ????-

Contact VFS Bangkok re UK Visa
in Visas and migration to other countries
Posted
Hi Guys, does anyone know the best way to contact VFS Bangkok re my girlfriend's UK visa please?
We have waited 7 weeks now, and were told we would have an answer within 6 weeks.
My girlfriend is on a facebook group re UK visas, and on there people say that using the paid for email enquiry system is not worth it, as you pay your money and then they just tell you to wait more. Does anyone have a number that we could attempt to use to contact them? There is no tracking system on the application website.
Or an email address?
Thanks in advance.........
