I came in here to post about the gold line. You guys beat me. Nice to have you posting regularly again Lakegeneve.
-
Are monorails really that cheap and easy to build? Paknam to BKK, really?
And gold line, I thought this was coming very soon? The news articles seem to think it is coming soon and will only take a year or two to build (from my poor memory).
From Codename_B on SSC
It is revealed that the gold line will use South Korean rolling stocks,
Woojin. Two 3-cars train will be purchased, construction will begin this year and this line will be operational in December 2017. Ticket price will be 15 baht for the whole line consisting of 3 stations. -

Thanks Issan, I had actually thought that we had lost this thread in the migration as I had searched for it last week without any success.
Yeah, I had a little trouble finding it as well. The new upgrade makes it hard for me to find my old posts

Serious question, looking for serious answers.
If they had a brewery in SE Asia (such as Laos), can't they sell it in Thailand under AEC? There shouldn't be any importation tax due to the free trade, no?

Taken from Render Thailand's Facebook and I removed the Thai writing (as per ThaiVisa forum rules)

I read a few replies and it seems like nobody bothered to read the article.
The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) has revised its export growth forecast to 2% contraction

There's lots more pictures on other websites. Forum rules prohibit me posting links, and I'm not sure if we are allowed to post photos with Thai language exclusively. Just hop over to Sky Scraper City and go to the Thai forum, and click on Infrastructure. Many many photos, maps, and diagrams there.

I'm loving these new international airport terminals. It's so easy to get around SE Asia now.
Once the new terminal at U-Tapao opens, I wonder what new flights there will be. I haven't seen any announcements.
-
There's also an article in the Bangkok Post dated June 22 that talks about the opening more. The title of the article is "New U-Tapao terminal opens next month"

I can do about three days and climbing the walls, surrounded by rice fields, insects a dodgy water supply and no internet is not my idea of fun at all. The main pastimes seem to be drinking, catching fish and incest
Yeah, extreme rural living isn't for everybody.

sounds awful, bit like an open prison
I can understand what you mean. But to rural people, the city feels like a prison since you're stuck in a 40 sq meter box and surrounded by concrete and people.
Rural life is almost like ultimate freedom. There's more free space and more green space. There's typically less strict enforcement of rules and less of everything, so there is a lot of figuring out and doing stuff yourself. Usually many people are handy and usually people help each other out.
I would say typically there's a lot of yard/house work (compared to the city) and also a lot of relaxing time. Going out to dinner is a bigger deal, and going into town is something that is planned.
If you've grown up in a city (greater than 500,000 people) you might have trouble living in a rural setting.
However Isaan does not mean rural countryside, it's just a certain part of Thailand. Plenty of people live in a city in Isaan.

Just keeps going up and up at unprecedented levels. I think they need more resorts, hotels and taxis. If numbers keep soaring the local population is going to be outnumbered 2 to 1.
The figures include Thai tourists.
Many people enter Thailand multiple times per year.
Many Thais take multiple vacations per year.

11 billion baht for 46 sets of trains. To be delivered in 2018. 22 from Siemens and 24 from CRRC (the Chinese ones).

The 'US' and 'craft beer' do not belong in the same sentence
WOW. Just...wow.

So the other companies don't want to bid because they don't need/want the 900MHz band?

Good that you noticed it.though the having to look at the TV screen for 5 minutes to check your booked in bags went through security was a new one for me
In the beginning there was some confusion about this.
Is it clearly explained/signed now?
I have a domestic Nok Air flight tmr from Don Muang.
Can someone explain to me why this is and where to look if your suitcase has passed security ? This is the first I ever heard of this and I would hate to have to go back to BKK to get out suitcases
Thanks
Not sure about Thailand but in other countries they are looking for li-ion batteries. So they are pre-screening the bags, and if your bag fails inspection they call you over to remove the offending items.

I cannot read Thai, so I must rely on Google translate, but it sounds like they have not even purchased the land yet for the new Northern Bus Terminal. So I would think Mor Chit isn't going anywhere for awhile.
There's also a story in the Bangkok Post in Feburary talking about splitting up the bus station into several smaller buildings.
