  1. I accidentally drop my iphone 5 down the elevator shaft. Don't ask.

Make sure you tell the building. They can get it out.

I didn't drop anything down there, but one time a person in the elevator with me dropped their keys down there, haha. They had to shutdown the elevator service and a guy had to jump down there and retreive the keys :)

  2. Cool video but it is sad to see that Thai people do not attend this event. Chiang Mai's most famous event overrun by tourists sad.png

It's almost all Thais, very few foreigners there.

The real event, they change the date every year, and keep it quiet, so only locals can go.

(They do put on a fake event for foreigners later in the month, with a big entry fee)

So this is a fake video? Or this is a video of the fake event?

  3. better stay where u are.

u could survive on that but no way live

the ed visa and visa runs wil cost you over $1,000

    so ur down to $7,000 @32 baht/$

    18,600/month

    room 5,000

    food 300/day= 9,000

    phone, internet 1,000

    leaves u 3,800 or 125 /day for everything else sad.png

That's too much for rent. Food is also too much. Can be done on far less. My wife supports herself and her ENTIRE family on 15,000 per month!

I agree that food is too much, but you think there are many places to rent in Bangkok that cost under 5000 baht? Can you at least give some examples or point out some parts of town to help out the OP?

It really doesn't matter what your wife can do, this thread is about a foreigner living in Bangkok while going to school.

  4. I skimmed the replies rather quickly, but didn't read much. I didnt see anybody mentioning the cost of the school. If school is $3000 for a year, then you are left with $5000. Let's say it costs you $1000 to fly to Thailand, then you are left with $4000. So $4000 over the course of a year? No way.

Let's say you already paid for your school, your visa, your flights and you just need a place to live, food, water, phone, and entertainment, then no, it is not possible to live in Bangkok comfortably for a year.

It would be difficult, but you could live uncomfortably. You would have to walk to school everyday, for entertainment, you could walk around, you could do crossword puzzles, and for food would be street food or ramen at home.

It would be slightly easier to live in a smaller town and go to school. Ubon and Khon Khaen are examples. You could possibly afford a bicycle and bike to school instead of walking.

  5. I didn't read many of the replies, but I went to visit Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay. 1 day was enough for me in Yangon. Bagan was super cool, I reccomend a couple days. Mandalay was peaceful and relaxing, I reccomend a few days there.

Try to book all your accomidation in advance. We did not do that. We had a terrible time trying to find a room to stay in, and one place we ended up in was HORRIBLE.

We struggled to find food and drink in Yangon when we were there. Plenty of restaurants and bars (i.e. a place to have a drink and relax) in Bagan and Mandalay.

  6. Still have 2 coconut trees on my land, used to be 6. They die when they are on an average about 9 meters tall. So once or twice a year I charter people to cut off the coconuts and most of the leaves. Because it is a risky job, it is well paid. It cannot be done when it has been raining recently, trunk still being moist and slippery.

I reckon in coconut tree blessed western countries like the US, it is prohibited to climb up a coconut tree to do the pruning.

How do you do it in Hawaii or southern Cal? Northern Australia?

Workers also die in the US when trimming palm trees. It's mostly Latino males in the business.

    • The phone is pretty pricey. Here are the figures for an unlocked iPhone. It's interesting to note that the 128GB iPhone 6 plus is only $200 more than the 16GB model while the smaller iPhone is $300 more.
    • iPhone 6 (16GB): $649
    • iPhone 6 (64GB): $749
    • iPhone 6 (128GB): $849
    • iPhone 6 Plus (16GB): $749
    • iPhone 6 Plus (64GB): $849
    • iPhone 6 Plus (128GB): $949

I'm not seeing your $300 difference.
