  1. Pax up, up, up - and still nowhere to park. International airport my arse.

This post doesn't even make sense. If the amount of passengers continues to rise, of course parking would become even more scarce. There are quite a lot of international destinations out of this airport, so of course it is an international airport.

You do not make sense - there is nowhere to park. I am aware it is an international airport. I suggest you take more tablets.

Tablets? Im posting from a PC.

There is parking at the airport. Garage and surface.

  2. Yesterday's Thai Visa had an article about rising tourism with this quote: During the first six months of the year, the country main gateway Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport welcomed 26.75 million passengers followed by Don Mueang with 14.43mn and Phuket 6.43mn. Chiang Mai Airport handled 4.04mn passengers.

How can Mr Omani be the 17millionth visitor through Swampy if 26.75 million came in the first 6 months of the year?

Domestic flights and people transiting. I believe this promotion is for international arrivals to Thailand (i.e. pass through immigration).

  4. If you wanted to stick to MRT/BTS only, then just take the purple line to Wongwian Yai, then transfer to BTS, and ride up to National Stadium or Siam.

Otherwise, take the purple line to Phan Fa and take a taxi over to MBK.

  5. Anyone know the deal with the Pinklao extension? At least I think it's an extension, yeah?

The MRT blue line extension? What about it? It's being worked on and should be open in approx 5 years.

Just moved out here so was wondering when the estimated completion was. It's an MRT extension? I thought it was BTS?

I'm not too familiar with that part of town, but the blue line extension has two stations, Bang Yi Khan and Bang Khun Non, that are somewhat in the Pinklao area. The MRT orange line also runs somewhat near that area but they haven't started construction on that.

Again, please excuse my ignorance of the Pinklao area of town. I know nothing about it.

    Blue line is definately MRT.

  7. Codename has for a long time been more about hope that accuracy as you'll see if you peruse the history of that thread. Much of those dates bear little resemblance to reality...

Just trying to keep the thread alive

  9. Went to the new refurbished Emporium the other day. I was so impressed. The old food court which overlooked the park has been replaced by some pointless lifestyle shop. The new super replacement foodcourt now offers dishes at about 4 times the price, plus it has a weird system of big payment card which instead of being loaded in advance, you have to settle when / before you can leave. The cinema upstairs seems to have got more expensive too. They have done an excellent job of keeping out the riffraff, including me, from now on, and I can happily do without ever going there again.

So glad they have built more soulless shopping malls in the area.....I can visit the same outlets in many different but similar malls.

Emporium is part of a whole new cutting edge development. The city keeps evolving, prices keep rising, the culture changes. I'm sure there are plenty of other people that are not happy and will miss the way it used to be. It happens all over the world, every day.

It's nice that they are building such fancy new places (Terminal 21 also) further out of the central part of the city.
