  1. Unfortunately tourists do present an easy target for the morally deprived in Thailand as much as they do elsewhere in the world.

What is equally unfortunate is the fact that Joe Soap and his family, happily returning home unscathed, after a couple of weeks idyllic sojourn on some far off sun baked Kho Whatever is far less newsworthy than if they had been mugged/robbed/raped in the same place.

  2. Dear folk.

How can i get work in UK ?

I think it's difficult to find.

    how can i do ?

    Brgs.

    Tan

After looking back at your first post, I would say no chance!

And if U.K. immigration think you are even thinking of working there, the door will be shut so tight.........

    just mind your fingers!!!! :o

  3. Will be there just as soon as I get shot of my flat here in the U.K!

Put it on the market 3rd. week of November, second viewers wanted it so bad they offered my full asking price within days, solicitor briefed within 24 hours........

Felt safe to come over for Christmas & New Year, returned last week in January to.....Zilch!!!!

Solicitor had done nothing, sat on it for the whole time, 'holiday time and all old chap!'

At least I have no worries about a place when I get there, all taken care of, thanks to my marvellous Thai family. :o

well it will be when I get there!

  4. My wife wants to open an ISA. However she does not have an NI Number...does not work and isn't likely to. She is a UK citizen. e-mail reply from bank says no NI no ISA

Anyone any experience of this..would she get an NI number on basis of wanting to open and ISA?

John, your wife does not work, does not intend to, so is not a UK taxpayer, so what use would a UK ISA be to her as a non taxpayer?

I would urge you both to get an NI number for her though, if possible, the benefits become more visible when really needed, and having one does not mean that she has to go to work.

  5. Sorry to hear of your loss Laz.

I just want to say if you can go, do so!

The guilt you feel just thinking about it will only grow with time, and will surely take forever to pass.

True, funerals are more for the living, and that is what you are doing now.

  6. Location? Very rural between the mountains and rice paddies (closer to the paddies) so the ground water should be coming from the mountains and there is no known industry for miles around. Of course there is they issue of pesticide and fertiliser but you can’t worry about everything.

Considering the location, I feel I would be more concerned about the contaminates you mention than anything else IMHO.

The family farm at Doilo was purchased many years ago with the water quality very much in mind, and was, at that time, the sweetest I have ever drunk, however it has been totally unusable for the last ten years thanks to the nieghbour's love of pesticides etc.

  7. oh, realized today another obvious hazzard : stray animals---particularly dogs, but also birds elephants, cats, and even monkeys in some cities

Was going to say elephants, but GW beat me to it!

Nigh met my maker late one night, at high speed, and there is a tale to this one, and NO rear light! :o
