  1. Who is this helping? It's not protecting me as the account holder, since the mobile phone number is the least significant of my security, and if I noticed something suspicious, I would contact the bank (as I've had to do twice with my Kbank Credit card details seamingly being sold by employees - New card that I never used so no chance it was skimmed). The 2022 arbitary date proves that the name is clearly not important since anything before that year is ok - same name ir not.
  2. Genuine question: How do the banks check your SIM name registration? Do they have access to private telecom records? In my case, last month, I updated my address and phone number at the bank (wife's name, they didn't know or ask) and the only extra step was cancelling my mobile banking and registering the new number at the ATM. Haven't received any notification from the bank as of today, so...
  3. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the Entertainment Complex Bill (popularly dubbed the "Casino Bill") without casinos? What else is in this bill then??
  4. Love when articles raise more questions than answers. For those of us that don't know, can someone please explain what "the incident" was - the only allusion in this article is "This incident, which involves a young man from this family driving a costly sedan with little regard for road safety," 🧐
  5. Every time I think Thai laws/mandates can't become more ridiculous, the officials go ahead and prove me wrong. How the hell is this supposed to work/be enforced? I have spent countless hours snorkeling - sometimes the depth is less than 2m (I assume, since I don't take a depth gauge with me as I trundle out of my hotel room down to the sea). I don't damage any coral - I love and respect nature. But now I also have to take a bloody life-vest?? For what? I'm not taking one in my suitcase and I assume most hotels don't carry a ton of spare ones (if any at all). Also, this ministerial order claims that I need a life-vest when snorkelling (to prevent drowing?), but if I'm not snorkelling, I can swim freely (no diving course required) and splash away and run along the coral at depths of less than 2m I assume 🙄
  6. Surely you cannot be guilty of tampering with evidence without some incentive being given to you to tamper. So, I assume the court knows who bribed these guys (otherwise they wouldn't be able to prove tampering and rather just negligence of duty). Therefore, why isn't anyone else being charged in this case i.e. the people that paid the bribes/"requested" the tampering with evidence?
  7. 1.4 Million beef farming households in Thailand? Total BS (unless they are including every household that has a cow - my neighbours have two, but they are not "farming" cattle. 🙄
  8. I agree, but this will cause so many problems since I suspect many travellers (new and returning ones) will not know about this QR code until check-in. Then they will be like "Can I do it now quickly please?" "No, sorry, you were supposed to do it 3 days ago" totally FUBAR.
  9. Will there be a paper option on arrival for people that aren't aware of this requirement? When one travels to a visa exempt country, one generally doesn't do as much searching online as when one is going to a place that has visa requirements etc. For example, the first time I flew to Thailand I had not heard of the TM6 until the air hostess gave it to me - had I been required to print out and bring my own (equavalent of doing the digital one now) I would've been screwed.
  10. I apologise - I misread your post 🙃
  11. Suppose? It literally did - what you on about? Have you looked at a map recently? Chiang Mai was hit before Bangkok since it's closer to the epicentre.
  12. If true - why though? Tackle that issue then as a nation. There are many poor people in Africa, South America and Europe, and those people manage to vote in countries requiring ID. Also, why poor AND ethnic minorities - aren't Americans with Indian heritage like the richest group of people in the USA? Or do you just think poor that ethnic minorities can't find their ID's and/or remember their SS numbers?
  13. I'm just here to see who comes up with the first "original" Tuk-tuk, somtam cart, Win rider, wrong way comment 🤪
  14. Pepsi and Est Cola are "visually similar" too - nobody crying foul there. If they have a different name, taste different, and look different, they are not "counterfeit" adjective counterfeit (adjective) made in exact imitation of something valuable with the intention to deceive or defraud: "counterfeit £10 notes"
  15. However, had the same survey listed Thailand as No.1 in the world, these officials would be clamouring for photo ops and taking all the credit 🙄
  16. Didn't know they had a street circuit. Just looked it up - seems like a decent track. I would agree with you then - good location (better than Burieam or downtown bangkok)
  17. I genuinely think Samui would be a great location for a race - it's got almost everything needed: airport, hotels, scenery, less dodgy than Pattaya (missing a racetrack but street race could work)
  18. Does this mean no more massive "CHANG mineral water" billboards around Thailand 🙄
  19. All the articles about this are all referencing other sources - such excellent reporting. It's all hearsay from what I can see - nobody is actually providing what was found on the person's phone/computer. However, one article states " I doubt that he only wrote "I hate Trump" or similar if they described it as "terrorism" - then again, this same news outlet is quoting "a source", so this could also be BS.
  20. Sherlock, is that you? Seriously, your powers of deduction are immense - hell, you even helped me to understand that I am a YouTuber, I never knew. Thank you 🤪
  21. The only consequence you will face is that that school will probably not hire you in the future, and if you used some agent, the agent is gonna be pissed. However, the world of teaching in Thailand is small - send a nicely worded professional email stating that you are unable to join in June, appreciate their time, apologise for the inconvenience etc.
  22. Nonsense! He isn't in a contract with the school - his contract starts in June! Even if there was some arbitrary clause in the contract (doubt it - and it would have to be singed and dated as such to be enforceable) he would still be giving way more than 30days notice.
  23. Yeah, the domestic routes are ridiculous (and the highspeed rail isn't cheap once you start heading over 200km). Surprised that Tianjin doesn't have direct flights, but maybe it's because Beijing is so close. 🤔 I know there are direct flights from Qingdao and Xi'an and those are much smaller than Tianjin. It might also have to do with Thais visiting those cities more often (Thai consulates in both Qingdao and Xi'an so I assume there are sizable Thai populations in those cities - not sure about Tianjin)
