  1. Wait - if the court dismissed the 177km/h speed and accepted the "scientific and independently verified" 79Km/h speed (under legal speed) and the acquitted six defendants stating that they did not alter evidence why did the deputy AG get sent to prison for dropping the reckless-driving charge?
  2. Three items? The screenshot with the receipts indicates he bought 14 bottles of each which would be 42 items in total and the prices do not seem that extreme for "Herbal Products" (250 - 1,650THB each). Or is that the scam, that they charged him for 42 and only gave him 3? But didn't he notice the missing 39 bottles??? Ok, so he thought 43,400THB was too expensive for 3 bottles (in this scenario we're assuming he didn't try to buy 42). So why did he agree to pay it - how do you become "suspicious" that the price exceeds the value after looking at what you've got and then paying it? I can see this happening with an online purchase, but the dude was literally there, took some stuff and then paid 43K.
  3. Cheers for that 👍
  4. Hi all, this is my first time entering Chiang Mai internationally with the family and wondering if I just join the Thai Q as usual there? In the past (entering Bangkok) I've always used the Thai Q except last trip without the missus where they sent me and the kids to the Diplomat Q instead (post DTAC QR code implementation)
  5. I've seen many similar incidents - why aren't these trucks designed with a failsafe where it can't be raised when travelling over a certain speed (10kph or something)
  6. Thanks - I contacted them and they still do store credit for trade-ins 👌
  7. Indeed. My kids love reading BOOKS, although they also use ebooks since the read so fast 🤣 Now our library is just too full so hoping to trade in some books and collections and get a few new books to read while on holiday.
  8. Thanks for the info. - will go check out those spots 🫡
  9. Hi, are there any good 2nd hand bookstores in Chiang Mai? Also, looking to trade in some books/sets for store credit if that's a thing.
  10. Out of interest, has anyone actually successfully purchased a drink at a supermarket/convenience store between 14:00 - 17:00 today?
  11. Aseannow pundits for years: "Cancel the 2-5pm rule! Stupid rule! I don't drink but agree it's a stupid rule. Thailand stuck in the past" etc. etc. Rule gets cancelled - same pundits: "What do they think we are - alcoholics! Stupid government! etc. etc."
  12. No, it means that other zoning limits still apply (even between 2pm - 5pm) e.g. can't sell alocohol within 300m of educational institutes and closing times will still be based on the act (according to zoning regulations etc. However, you now will be able to buy a beer at 7/11 supermarkets at anytime after 11:00 across the country.
  13. All I read in the article is that Trump dismissed the idea of running as VP and that his former strategist "hinted at a strategy".
  14. I love how this thread clearly identifies those that only read headlines
  15. It's just badly worded. He's alluding to the fact that originally Anutin promised to dissolve the house after 4 months (January) and then elections would've happened after that (March/April). With an early dissolution (now), elections could be as early as February.
  16. Here we go again with the arbitrary distances they love in Thai law. Much like the "300m alcohol rule", although 1,000m is even more ridiculous. It basically means that no authorised sellers can exist in Bangkok
  17. What are you on about? This is about Thai people complaining a bout a Thai church. It is one of "THEIR" own religious establishments. 🙄
  18. "Linked" is very broad. You could also say "A Thai man's wearing of clothes is linked...". His outburst is due to him being an <deleted> lacking self-control. Did ge smoke weed? Yes. Did weed make him more angry? No
  19. He's not refuting the fact that he was convicted; he's refuting the claims that he is ineligible to be a cabinet minister due to the conviction.
  20. Two questions: 1) Does the army have the authority to close the border without the government's approval? 2) The article cites "recent clashes" as the reason - are these the clashes before the ceasefire aggreement or a new round of clashes after? (Probably should have included that info in the article since it is important information🙄)
  21. So covering your face and speaking English well makes you foreign?/ WTAF 🤣 Maybe they covered there faces because they're Thai and would be easier to identify. Or maybe, they covered their faces because, well, that's what robbers do!! And I love the bigotry of low expectations - no Thai could ever speak fluent English. 🤔
  22. The documentary is called "Thaliand: The Dark Side of Paradise" so one assumes it focusses on the negative elements of Thailand (which exist, as in all countries). I don't see how anyone watching was expecting a "balanced" view. 🙄
  23. It was actually enacted to prevent civil servants from getting too pissed during lunch. The law specific to educational institutes states that no alcohol is allowed to be sold within 300m of a school/university - also a stupid law: look at a map of downtown Bangkok, find a school and then draw a 300m radius - if they actually upheld this law, you wouldn't be able to buy booze anywhere in Bangkok 🤣
  24. Cleat as mud: need 3 referendums, but can combine two together, which means you then have two referendums, but you can't have two referendums, you need three, but go ahead and combine those first two...🤔🙄
  25. This is like lazy TAT maths: An average restaurant is open from 11:00 - 23:00, 12 hours, but is only allowed to sell alcohol for 9 hours (75%). So now with the other 25% of hours also allowed to sell, sales will go up 25%. 🤔 Let's ignore all the other factors about more customer traffic at night and that even the most customer consume less alcohol during the day (even while on holiday)...
