Paying the local police to find him guilty of something and arresting him may be your only option.   If his house burned down he may move.  If he rents, find the owner and pay them to evict him.   You can only deal with animals by being animalistic.   Confrontation not good as most thai men are spoiled 9 year old boys.

Very true.   90% of people who have problems here either deserve it, or made it very easy through their behavior.    This is not a Euro-nanny state.  Actually have to take responsibility here.    Or get used to starting "gofundme" pages.

I used to work for Stamford. I found the mgmt, to be clueless and disinterested, but the programs were decent and the students had reasonable expectations. It is not the degree mill it used to be and students are expected to work. The school in BKK has almost no services a university should have, but the academics are generally taken seriously.

If we live here we have to accept that for 2-3 days every idiot, local and tourist, can do whatever they want (police responded? amazing, but good on them). For songkran its best to leave the country or lock yourself in the house. For those of us who have to go to work and responsibilities, there is no good answer.

If you cannot afford to live in Thailand off your Canadian money, how can you live in Canada? Maybe get a job?

I know people that were reported to police / immigration for financial debt. If you skip a hotel bill you could be arrested at the airport. I know a Thai man who was arrested at the airport, leaving the country, for a vandalism he did 3 years prior. However, since they don;t have your full name or ID/passport number, its unlikely they would grab you.

Unlikely the police will bother coming to get you. Likely they will have you in the system and arrest you when you try to clear immigration. Be prepared.

Last year I went through Nong Khai and met a guy who had just paid an 11 year (yes, really) overstay at that crossing.

Visa agents are the only sensible option I can see, who wants to try and be King Canute!

Let me get this straight.... Overstaying a visa, or falsifying a visa s such is a crime. Right? People who commit crimes are called criminals...right? Countries that try to deport foreign criminals causes TV members to be outraged...right? ok.... Nope, still don't see the cause for TV member indignation. Unless they are criminals themselves.

In 6 years in Thailand I have only been cheated by foreigners. Now I refuse to even speak English when they approach.

No offense but popular to contrary belief, coming to Thailand does not make one a rock star that the world revolves around while all others are expected to sort you out. All of your questions can be found here with a little reading. Do yourself a favor and get in the habit of being responsible for yourself. It will pay off in the long run.

Sorry to say the only people who care about the poor in Thailand are foreigners. Not one major charity that operates in Thailand is Thai in origin. Thai charities are generally scams for the CEO to pull big salaries.

Look at any charity in Thailand and see how many are funded by Thai people. Everyone I have seen was started and funded from foreigners. There is a reason rich Thai people has a lot of money; they keep it.

I live and work in Thailand. I have Thai issued ID and can speak Thai so I have paid Thai prices about 95% of the time. Because I work in Thailand and make 1/3 the wage I would make in a Western country, I have no problem with tourists who are dropping big money to come here paying extra for access, if it keeps the prices for locals low.

The poor are generally not allowed to succeed too much. Once they have something of value, the rich will find a way to take it. Most if not all rich people in Thailand got there money from either crime or exploitation or their family, who got it from crime or exploitation.

Im with the OP. In a rush for a meeting, pick up some street meat on a stick and keep going. THis is Thailand's cheap "Drive-Thru" fast food. And I like it.

Or we can be more like the boring western world where big brand chains rule and most of the population pop antidepressants every day.
