There is another thread for discussion on the pipeline issue, as kindly noted by another poster. -

Would Putin play nice? I don’t know and neither do you. But if I were Putin and losing the war as badly as many in the west are saying, then I would definitely consider playing nice. I would do a Robert Holmes a Court. -

I agree with your assessment. Am I right in saying that you don’t believe the continued expansion of NATO eastwards was an existential threat to Russia? NATO was after all, created to combat Soviet aggression. -
Biden’s APEC no-show seen as a blow to Thai government’s credibility

If I’m not mistaken, Trump didn’t get a majority in 2016. He didn’t get the majority either in 2020 and yet, almost half the country believes that he won. Not sure if this democratic model should be exported to the rest of the world. -

Strange thing about your link is that the US intelligence concluded that China did not try to interfere https://www.odni.gov/files/ODNI/documents/assessments/ICA-declass-16MAR21.pdf I don’t understand why you are proving my points for me. -

Ukrainians are as much Europeans as Russians are. Read into that as you like. My remark about my daughters is not a joke. I’m naturally worried about their wellbeing, whether it be from nuclear fallout or spiking costs of living. -

I believe he was trying to create a buffer zone, something that any threatened person would do. -

So in spite of the flood of posts in the last few minutes, we are still at square one. The war is not stopping anytime soon, no one has suggested a plausible solution. I wonder how bad the suffering for Europeans will be. Continued inflation, almost certain recession, inevitable bankruptcies, innocent citizens possibly freezing to death, unaffordable energy costs… Luckily, my daughters in the UK will be fine -

Well, neither of us can say for sure what Putin will do if the west stops the weapons supply. Many experts say that Putin is losing the war. So if the weapons supply stop, it’s would make sense for Putin to take this opportunity and to stop fighting a losing war. Ukraine surely knows that NATO will not accept their membership. Even if they did, it is very likely that one or more of the current members will block it. This application is to further provoke and antagonise Russia. I can’t imagine that Zelensky is so naive to want to do this so obviously, there is another country pulling Zelensky’s strings. Wonder who can that be. Cui bono… -

Yes, the war can also be probably stopped the way you all suggested. However, it’s naive to think that will happen. So the war will continue and Europe (and probably Russia as well) will continue to suffer. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face lol. -

As you said, Russia shut down their own pipelines and thus did not need to bomb them.. I guess this is as easily done as turning a valve or something like that. No need to engage in a dangerous situation such as planting huge amounts of explosives on 4 different pipelines. Begs the question then of who might have have done such an irresponsible act. Cui bono and only one nation comes out on top. -

If the west stops weapons supply to Ukraine, the war will stop immediately. Then let diplomacy take its course. But of course, there are some that wants the war to continue for as long as possible. -

Most Americans, I would imagine, get most of their news from the local networks or CNN, FOX, MSNBC etc. Far as I can tell, all these networks are anti-China. So how do the 2 million warriors influence anything in America? By broadcasting subliminal messages while America sleeps? Maybe Trump is in China’s pocket as everything he has done for the last 6-7 years and continue to do today has been very effective in destroying America, from within. He has caused Americans to hate each other, accuse the DOJ, FBI of being corrupt and fascist (or is that left’s weapon against the right), causes irreparable damage to the whole justice system and so on and so forth. If I could, I wonder definitely vote Trump in 2024. -
Face masks still mandatory on public transport, cinemas in Thailand

This is a good example of culture difference between east and west. Westerners are all about freedom and liberty. Asians are more about respecting authorities, social norms and consideration for others. I may strongly believe in one set of values but if they differ from those of the country I’m living in, I will either adapt or leave. -

It depends. Who was driving the expansion of NATO? (no need to answer, just a rhetorical question). Russia has protested for years, this is a redline for Russia. This is just another example of the proxy wars the collective west like to engage in. -

If the US and EU supply troops, this means they are declaring war against Russia. I don’t think they will dare to do this. Instead, they will take covert measures such as bombing the pipelines to try and cripple Russia. The sad thing is that EU is too blind and naive to see the consequences and the hidden agendas for themselves. While their fortunes continue to decline, those of the US continues to grow (military industrial complex, LNG suppliers). -

I was at the food fair in Central Festival, Chiang Mai, yesterday. Hundreds of people, all masked. Thank god there weren’t any anti-mask farangs there. -

Seems to me you are talking about border disputes. This happens all the time with many countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan… the countries you mentioned in your post. Border disputes are not the same as regime change. The west is very active in the latter. Do a google search if you want examples. -

China currently has arguably the best track record where infrastructure construction is concerned. Also, one of the world’s leaders in 5G tech. So pretty much a no brainier for developing countries wanting to develop. But like you said, maybe, maybe not. Time will tell.
