Bit selective don't you think. How about this lot? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_scandals_in_the_United_Kingdom

Let's not pretend MEPs or MPs are any more 'corrupt' than their Westminster counterparts.

However, I stand by my original comment that the vast majority of MEPs and MPs are decent and honest individuals.

How many apples in the barrel are tainted?

Will take a hell of a lot more research than that; looking at 27 member states plus the UK.

You might be right and you might not. A lot more instances are shown up now due to the information age we live in.

  2. Guy Verhofstadt made a very good speech.

He suggested, strongly, that he really hoped for a deal. He wanted the EU negotiator M. Barnier to make sure any deal included provisions for termination should the UK fail to abide by any of its agreement. Understandable given recent developments (but not an easy thing to actually include in a way a court would enforce it).

He also said that for the EU to recognize British Sovereignty, which they are doing, and then not recognize that sovereignty over fishing waters and fishing rights was ridiculous - his words.

He also made the point that an EU deal, ratified by all 27 member states, applies to all member states.

    Sensible way forward.

Most MEPs and UK MEPs are honest and, among the few that aren't,  I doubt that there are any more 'bad apples' in Brussels compared to Westminster.

Read about the scandal of MEPs nipping in, with the car engine still running, to "clock on" for their daily remunerations.

The Kinnocks were at it so no doubt Westminster, and ALL the EU member states parliaments have that issue to.

The EU has the additional gravy train for the bureaucrats and lackeys.

Boris needs a deal more than anybody else. The only question is if he will get anything which he can sell as a success.

It's like a guy who tells everybody that he can get all the pretty girls. And then later he has to explain how he ended up with the one he got.

er, Mrs Merkel, despite being in her twilight years and almost retired might disagree with you. She knows how important a deal is to the block but especially Germany. She also wants a deal she can sell as her success.

But le petit general daren't sell the French fishermen out. And any compromise on their quotas, no matter how scientifically sensible, will be seen as a sell out. Unless the French government reimburse them - which will make Macron look weak and politically vulnerable to pressure. He's got no option but to keep saying non, non, non. But how long with the Germans tolerate him?

As you say, this is Thailand. The baht should have fallen long time ago, but seems to just gain instead. Unbelievable!

Only Thailand don't rule the world's forex markets, do they?

Nor are all the traders Thai.

Unbelievable how some posters seem to think Thailand controls and manipulates the world's currency markets! Often the same posters who like to pretend how superior their country is too 555!

The  whole country is suffering under the current administration, whose performance is the reason for the protests.

Bring in real democracy and the country and economy will flourish.

    Really?

And those countries with "real democracy" are doing so fantastically well with their economies and social environments, law and order etc, are they?

Biden has released his tax returns, so we already know that you're being untruthful.

Are you a tax accountant who has audited Mr. Biden's finances?

Do you remotely think that anyone engaged in corruption and corrupt payments would actually declare the income received on their official tax returns?

The question is have the Bidens been thoroughly audited and investigated for unusual and/or hidden wealth?

Do they have any family trusts, charities or foundations?

No mention of Donald knowing that Giuliani was targeted to be a Russian asset in order to slander the Biden family in a fake document dump?

Intelligence officials warned Trump that Giuliani was target of Russian influence campaign

The Washington Post - did they get this from another of their unnamed, totally reliable, 100% pukka, secret sources again? Oh no, 4 former offices this time, no less. All hearsay of course. But hey oh - par for the course.

No political bias from them of course!

The Russians; again? Or the Chinese? Could it be the Nigerians?

    They need Baidu anti-virus.

I'm not keen on anything with British as its first word British Airways, British telecom, BBC etc.

Getting a bit like those who include "Democrat, Democratic, People's " etc in their title. There to influence any daft enough to believe it add integrity.

And if we accept for a minute that is true, why is it necessarily a bad thing?

Think about it. If the few bailing out the many suddenly can't afford it then who does the bailing?

The idea of a common market was good. Many initial EU policies were good. The idea of richer countries helping poorer ones improve, excellent. But unfortunately, human nature being what it is, many of those poorer ones saw it as a get rich quick for not doing anything scheme. Corruption, bureaucracy, rule bending and ignoring etc etc.

Those politicians who see ever more closer union and federalism as the goal, won't ever consult the people in their countries. They are more concerned with creating an ideological bureaucratic state rules by the center and controlling everything. That's why a few countries, in which the electorate have elected less compliant politicians are now beginning to oppose the EU dictates.
