The important word here is "plausibility" !  When you have a convincing liar in full swing, an awful lot of nasty stuff is going to hit the fan, and there is nothing that can be done about it. The liar usually knows that everyone is going to believe them over the other party, and rejoices in creating mayhem. If a reliable witness saw Depp striking Heard then there is a basis for guilt, but if not then there is no solid ground to form a guilty decision.

This decision does look rather odd. But certain sections of the British judiciary are known for odd decisions! That's why the appeals and higher courts are so busy.

Very surprising if he doesn't appeal. Another good pay day for the lawyers but Depp has plenty of money.

    The man is delusional.

Thailand and the U.S. are maintaining diplomatic relations, and there always has been a U.S. consulate in Chiang Mai. If the U.S. government decides to construct a new consulate building (not with Thai but with U.S. funding, no less), so be it.

Or is the dunce now suggesting that Thailand should break off diplomatic relations with the United States over the curbing of GSP benefits?

Even more so, the wild assumption that China has not yet dispatched a new ambassador to Thailand because the U.S. is building a new consulate-general compound is nothing short of ludicrous.

The non elected mysteriously appointed UDD Chairman delusional - totally! He's simply a mouthpiece for his boss. And not a very bright one at that. Willing to go to jail for the family while they all rat out.

About as false as that photo shopped photo of him.

UDD - no longer relevant. The student's and most young people can see straight through them.

I don't believe any of it, Corbyn is innocent.

And suspending him from the party means nothing, he's still an MP, he still gets a wage, expenses and a vote.

If I were him, I'd be starting my own Labour break-away party, or reviving the 'Socialist Labour party', reduce their number of MPs and split their vote with the proletariat.

The could call themselves the Socialist Workers Party, or Momentum. Oh er, they've tried those already!

Corbyn denies any reality he doesn't like, always has and always will. Time the old fossil was retired.

  4. Of course PTP won't cooperate. Their idea of reconciliation is to hold a vote in the early hours of the morning, after all opposition have been sent home by being told the vote won't be till the next day! And of course, vote to totally whitewash their big boss and give him lifetime immunity.

Luckily for Thailand I think the new younger breed of politically savvy protesters and campaigners for change know PTP too well to be influenced by this gang. And won't let them try and grab power for their own benefit.

It was the paranoid reaction of the government to the pandemic rather than the pandemic itself which caused these 1.57 trillion losses to Thai tourism.

Instead of gradually opening the country months ago after having learned about the virus and it's transmission and treatment, they decided to block any tourists from coming. So what did they expect, other than ruining the industry?

But of course, there is this masterplan of the generals, to sell the country to China in order to line up the own pockets. So nothing else was to expect.

Yes right. Meanwhile in the real world, WHO recognizes that Thailand has handled the pandemic brilliantly compared to all those wonderful "first world" nations in Europe, the US, Aussie etc. They all put money before people and are now enjoying their second lockdowns, curbs and curfews.

Dumb idea not to close the borders and have millions affected.

I'm about to collect my replacement UK passport next week. Here's a timeline  of my application.

10-9-20. applied for appointment at Trendy. Told there was a three week waiting time and currently a 6 week processing time, with currently only available on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Given an appointment for 2-10-20

Supplied docs, payment details and application, then received a confirmation email from HMPO the same day, on 2-10-20, confirming the application

2-10-20, also had a text message confirming the application had been forwarded to HMPO Liverpool

Payment deducted from my UK band account on 6-10-20

15-10-20 email from HMPO confirming COVID-19 could delay the process by up to 8 weeks

Just four days later, on 19-10-20 had an email to say my new passport had been delivered to HMPO at Trendy already and was available for collection at any time after 21-10-20, between 11.00am - 13.00pm

21-10-20, received at text from HMPO confirming the new passport had arrived at Trendy and was available for collection after 11.00am on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday

    Thanks for posting this.

But just goes to show how the new "process" is a vast improvement on the old one i.e. going to the Embassy with your completed application and payment and collecting your new passport a week later!

Of course this must save millions!

Bit selective don't you think. How about this lot? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_scandals_in_the_United_Kingdom

Let's not pretend MEPs or MPs are any more 'corrupt' than their Westminster counterparts.

However, I stand by my original comment that the vast majority of MEPs and MPs are decent and honest individuals.

How many apples in the barrel are tainted?

Will take a hell of a lot more research than that; looking at 27 member states plus the UK.

You might be right and you might not. A lot more instances are shown up now due to the information age we live in.

  8. Guy Verhofstadt made a very good speech.

He suggested, strongly, that he really hoped for a deal. He wanted the EU negotiator M. Barnier to make sure any deal included provisions for termination should the UK fail to abide by any of its agreement. Understandable given recent developments (but not an easy thing to actually include in a way a court would enforce it).

He also said that for the EU to recognize British Sovereignty, which they are doing, and then not recognize that sovereignty over fishing waters and fishing rights was ridiculous - his words.

He also made the point that an EU deal, ratified by all 27 member states, applies to all member states.

    Sensible way forward.

Most MEPs and UK MEPs are honest and, among the few that aren't,  I doubt that there are any more 'bad apples' in Brussels compared to Westminster.

Read about the scandal of MEPs nipping in, with the car engine still running, to "clock on" for their daily remunerations.

The Kinnocks were at it so no doubt Westminster, and ALL the EU member states parliaments have that issue to.

The EU has the additional gravy train for the bureaucrats and lackeys.

Boris needs a deal more than anybody else. The only question is if he will get anything which he can sell as a success.

It's like a guy who tells everybody that he can get all the pretty girls. And then later he has to explain how he ended up with the one he got.

er, Mrs Merkel, despite being in her twilight years and almost retired might disagree with you. She knows how important a deal is to the block but especially Germany. She also wants a deal she can sell as her success.

But le petit general daren't sell the French fishermen out. And any compromise on their quotas, no matter how scientifically sensible, will be seen as a sell out. Unless the French government reimburse them - which will make Macron look weak and politically vulnerable to pressure. He's got no option but to keep saying non, non, non. But how long with the Germans tolerate him?
