  1. I've read the article twice so now just have to ask: Not being from England, Is Rotherham a separate race than the rest of England?

On topic: If a single professor can discover so much, why can't the entire police force and prosecuting force find any evidence to make arrests and convictions?

Also, if the guy's been on the job for 9 years and the report goes back 8 years previously, should there not be others held accountable for creating the significant amount of cover-ups that had apparently been going on for 2 decades?

This whole thing smacks of historical complacentsy rather than somethign new. Another of the "Empire's" dirty little secrets coming out in the wash?

  2. since noone has bothered to mention it and simply turned this into a police bashing thread (civilians), the show has been airing/being filmed for 25 years without incident. How many race car drivers have died in that time? How many fans of racing have been hurt or killed? Should we ban racing? How many skiers have died in that time? Should we ban skiing? How many skydivers have died in that time? Should we ban skydiving?

This 1 crewman in 25 years and he wasn't where he was supposed to be having been separated from his cameraman. He was struck by 1 bullet in a shootout in which some asshat was committing 1 of the lowest of crimes and in a fast food restaurant which usually employs "kids" 15-22 who will remain traumatized for the rest of their lives and you people presume to blame the police?!?

It's indeed becoming a sad. sad world we live in.

  3. Curious OP (Jaidee),,

do you know if it's possible to travel from PrachinBuri to Hua Hin by rail without needing to get off anywhere along the way? I have a friend that lives in Hua Hin and miss playing golf with him. I never tried taking the mini-vans or buses as you always need to change at least once along the way and I don't enjoy dragging my golf bag and travel bag through crowded areas. The station here is small and easily navigated as is the station in Hua Hin. Had never thought of this mode of transportation until reading your posts. smile.png

edit to add: I'll follow this post in case you don't have time to pm me

[ The answer to your question is no.

trains depart PRACHIN BURI 5 times daily to BANGKOKS HUALAMPHONG where you will change, then you will have a choice of twelve trains down to HUA HIN. don't worry about changing trains BKK HUALAPHONG is a breeze all one level . and everywhere is accessible. the station is quite small all platforms are walk in walk of to an arrival/departure hall. this website will give all your info

    www.railway.co.th/checktime/checktime.asp?lenguage=ENG

and to give you a little more info don't forget www.themaninseat61

    (enjoy your trip.)

    Dear Viewer..

I priced the trip up and the total cost of the journey is 70 baht ( optional fresh n up at 3 baht ) The only problem is that these " wind in your hair " trains can get delayed! In fact some stations the Thais actually turn up late as they know the train will be late which causes more delays! lol I would just " go with the flow " I never wear a watch and do not live my life like "John Cleese" in " Clockwise " perhaps you can practice a few " Golf Swings" in Hua Lampong station ..... F.J x

Many thanks to you both for the quick and useful replies. Not sure what they'd think about me "taking the big dog out" for a few practice swings but it might be fun just to see the reactions. :) Also, 70 baht is less than it would cost me for a mini van just to get to the madhouse interior of Bangkok. We've got a school break coming up in a few weeks and Oct. is usually when the reduced rates for a month kick in so I will be eyeballing that rail journey. :D

  5. I've got a small-ish collection (around 200) that I'd be willing to part with. Just hate seeing them sit without ever getting played. A few of the highlights (I guess) would be an original sealed Rare Earth, the 1st uncensored release of Santana Abraxas with poster before it was pulled from the shelves and returned with a sticker over the nudity, the complete Kiss collection including the mis-press with Kiss on side 1 and Alice Cooper on side 2, the original Reader's Digest Christmas collection stamped on heavy vinyl, The Archies smile.png , The Monkeys along with some rock, metal, pop, folk, etc. My collection is in Nakhon Nayok so you can PM me if you'd like to take a look and make an offer.

  6. You all have taken virtually every cheesy one liner, there are none left smile.png

Still though, I don't think I'd get much interest if I tried to make a deposit. They really need a much wider spread on their interest. Maybe I can extend them an offer?

Always wondered why she mispronuounced "Deposit slit" when she could say "please fill it for me" while smiling. wai2.gif

  7. ALSO ... hire smiling and friendly Public Relations tourism workers to deal with the infamous baht bus queue at South Pattaya Road.

Russian, Chinese, and English speaking of course.

    Ready to answer questions politely.

Make sure boarding is handled in a civilized way especially during high season with barriers for orderly lines as needed.

Crack down on baht bus worker rudeness, physical and psychological intimidation, brandishing weapons such as stun guns, and even violence against passengers.

Crack down on unqualified drivers, who drive too fast, who drive too erratically, who speed up when people are still boarding the buses, who kick off passengers before ends of runs, demanding extra money, etc.

add to this a staff of English, Russian and Chinese speaking police with a paddy wagon standing by to haul away unruly, drunk tourists that make it unpleasant for the rest or the people.

  8. OP - Vientian is a good choice also. Go here: http://www.thaivisaservice.com/ (in case the link gets blocked it's thai visa service . com) and either call or send them an e-mail. They leave from the Tesco parking lot at On Nut BTS station every Sun. and Wens. evenings. They have never failed me in getting Tourist, Non-B and Non-O visas in the 12 years I've been living and working here. They know all the consulate people and the border people and can tell you exactly what you need Today to get you painlessly through the process.

I'd suggest avoiding the speculation and just ask the experts. :)

  9. Have you been attending any courses or seminars? You need to be able to show a certain level of demonstrable "professional development" to renew the licence.

This is the only English information I can find just now.

    1. Retaining Oneself in the Professional Field

Professional educators with a license to practice, dated five years from the date of the issuance of

the license, have to develop their skills and professional practices in order to attain the criteria set

up by the Teachers’ Council of Thailand Board for the renewal of the license.

I attended a couple of seminars early on but they were all conducted in Thai. I also took a year off and attended classes at Ramkhamheang University studying Phonetics, Linguistics, Phonology, Philosophy, Psychology, Thai History and Literature, and a strange Thai course in Ethics and Morals maintaining a 3.85 GPA.

Still need to know about any forms/paperwork I need to submit and can it be done by mail.

That should be enough further development, but you will need proof, certificates of attendance.

You seem like a "real" teacher and as such should be able to get the establishment you work for to assist you with this. My school did all the paper work, I just signed each page.

These were regular university courses/classes so there are no certificates of completion. There are however, the transcripts showing all courses completed with grades over a 1 year period.

  11. Pretty straight forward question as the title says. I was issued my 5 year teacher's licence by TCT in July of 2009 and it's due to expire next month. I wanted to know how do I get it renewed? Is it much like the driver's licence where you bring a new picture, show your ID and fill out a renewal form or do you need to go through all of the long drawn out process of paperwork, photo copies, 3-4 weeks waiting time, multiple trips to TCT, etc. like you do when you get your original?

    Thank-you :)

  12. "...get 30 days Visa exemption time

and extend that 30 days than in Thailand at an Immigration office for a fee"

Is that something new, or are you thinking of the 30 day extension on a real tourist visa?

it's all fairly new to me as I moved to Thailand in 2002 and had not been out of the country (except 2 trips to Loas) until I left last month to come here to the states. Will probably be returning to Thailand on Friday the 23rd. Mostly curious if I will have a problem getting through immigration at the airport. My wife and I are on very good terms with immigration in Chocheansao <-sp) so shouldn't have too much of an issue with them.

Wanted to know if I'm going to need to do a run to Loas again for a 90 day non-O and then start all the paperwork again in Thailand to get a new non-O.

    Thanks folks :)

  13. I recently moved back to the states to try and avoid being injured in the unrest (I lived near Ramkhamheang Uni) and to try and make some better money. Rude awakening here in the states as far as getting a job. Nobody just talks to you anymore. Everything must be done online and then wait 1-3 weeks for an interview. Had a promising sounding interview with a company recruiter followed by an uncertain interview with the hiring managers. Was told the recruiter would be back in touch with me. After waiting 2 days I sent a polite inquiry to the recruiter and was told the 'team' would let her know on Monday (this was Friday).

If I don't get the job I'm thinking I may just as well move back home to Thailand. My wife of 9 years and I have a nice home in Nakhon Nayok. I had been in Thailand 12 years when I made the move back to the states and I had been on non-B visas up until the last year when we decided to just go ahead and get a non-O to save some hassles with schools fumbling around with paperwork. When I left, the guy at the airport in really bad English asked me if I had plans to return and I told him I did but not right away. I believe he just stamped my visa as used or canceled so my question is, How difficult will it be for me to return on a one-way ticket and go to immigration and get another non-O? Outside of added cost, did I screw myself up by not going to immigration and getting a re-entry stamp before leaving or should it be fairly straight forward (as it ever gets in Thailand) to just get a new non-O?

Thanks in advance for any constructive advice. :)
