  1. Thanks again everyone.

My next problem (I now have my Thai driving licience for both car and motorbike)is that when i went to 2 differentbike shops(just out of curiosity)I was told that unless I have a work permit that I couldn't have the bike registered in my name?? I'm sure I read somewhere that this isn't true.I want to buy second hand anyway but I don't want to cause the person i'm buying from lots of falang problems when we go to change the name over.

    I have...

    Passport

    non imm b visa

    thai driving licience

letter off police station stating my address is correct

letter off british embassy stating that my address is correct(1,600 baht)

At the shop the girls say this isnt enough?? Is that correct or are they a little thick?

    :o

  2. Im not disagreeing with you Dave but isn't the boss 175 also a 4 stroke and electric start? Just thinking of my pennis as brand new is more than 20,000 baht less. Is there any real reason you say this that I need to concider?

Brew.If you have one for sale, can you give more details eg,year ,condition, number of bumps :-) ,colour, your location ,PRICE,reason for sale etc etc

    Thanks

  3. Hi all , ive been looking now at both the CBR150R and the Phantom. Both nice bikes but the Phantom has a bit more character.Ive now saved up some money and can almost afford to buy one(second hand at moment).Since ive been looking out for them on the street ive noticed a few more similar bikes...a steed and a kawasaki(dont know the model....am I right in thinking its a Boss?).What do you guys think about these(and others) and are they still in the same price range as a Phantom?Same cc?etc etc.

Maybe my memory is wrong but a while back whilst looking in the shops a Phantom is 85,000 and the Boss is 65,000.If this is right is there any reason to pay the extra 20,000?

Also is there any major differences in the Phantom 150cc 175cc and 200cc apart from the engine sizes?

Off to try to get my Thai driving licience now.

P.s. still looking for second hand Phantom(or similar chopper) etc if anyone knows of one.

Which is the best classified website for bkk(maybe even pattaya)

    Thanks again boys

  4. Been trying to connect today and yesterday after coming back off my hols but ni luck so far.tried both addresses?? whats the current i.p or is the server down?

Also Pandit next time please put a link at the bottom of the old thread to where the new thread is(not sure why we need new threads all the time) as it took me some time to find this thread.

  5. Ok this one will get people screaming 'you unrealistic, amatureistic, naieve(sp lol) idiot'. You'll probably be right but here goes anyways.

Ive read absolutely loads and loads of threads about starting a new business and also about buying a new business(with the aid of someone like sunbelt). But I need putting right(or maybe even agreed with..lol) on this....I can't see the reason of setting up a legit company when most of the thais wouldn't dream of doing so.For example a few years ago my GF ran her own noodle stand and paid ONLY 200 baht per month for the police to look the other way.She was then going to go another step further and rent a cheap building and just transfer to the builing her noodle business. She insists that she would only have a problem if she didnt pay the officer who would only want around 500 baht(not a problem if its more).

Now I'm not stupid enough to think that I would get away with it so easily but what is to stop me from having my GF run it all and pay the staff/chef and rent a place myself(or she can) just as she was going to do in the past(but now with some funds).

1, rent a cheap place with lots of walkers by and near other popular eating places(decorate if needed and get tables etc)

2, get a good thai chef

    3, get supplies

    4, pay officer

5, keep out of the way(or don't make it too obvious)

Ok im done...Give it to me

  6. Hey Pandit. I have some unfinished downloads. Can you start the hub up at around 7 pm(or sooner) for around 1 hour or so just so that we can all connect and resume? We dont need the hub to be up for long at all.as soon as most of us are logged on then the hub can be switched off.

  7. O.k. ....Why don't we run the hub just at weekends + run it evryday for just 1 hour(so that people can connect to other users to finish off their downloads) as we all know that peoples computers crash from time to time(in my case very often). We dont need the hub to download files , we just need it to do the initial connect. I also agree with pandit...not enough people were sharing enough NEW content. If we all download 1 or 2 movies a week, then if the movies weren't the same then we would have quite a busy week watching movies. We can all compromise on what time the 1 hour is up at.

  8. A few of us have set up a small filesharing community (nothing technical done by me...lol). The great thing about this is that it's only for people in Thailand!! This is great beacuse as most of you know, we have a bottleneck problem when downloading from international sites/servers. This is THE solution(other than Thailand upgrading) as far as I'm concerned. The hub's been active for a few days now and the host is now confident to take a few more guests onboard and broaden the share files. I am currently downloading at 51KB/s and will have the movie in about 3 hours :-)

The adress yof the hub expathub.dyndns.tv . NB! You need a special program to access this address, your regular web browser will not work. The system of file sharing we have chosen is called DirectConnect. The environment looks similar to the IRC environment, only DC is more specifically designed to share files. The newer DC clients like StrongDC++ and PeerWeb DC++ allow for multisource downloading, this means you can download pieces of the same file from more than one user at a time. Obviously this increases your transfer speeds.

If you want to get in on this just do the following :-

Step 1. download PeerWeb DC++ from Softpedia Then install the program.

Step 2. get the current IP address from www.whatismyip.com . Hilight the IP address and press Ctrl + C to copy it to your clipboard.

Step 3. In the DC client click on the yellow star (favourites) then on the NEW button.

Step 4. In the address field type expathub.dyndns.tv and make sure there are no extra spaces included.

Step 5. NICK and PASSWORD are disabled. You can use any nick you like, but it would be good with one which is easy to remember and write, in order to make chatting easier.

(However, to get in you must share at least 5 Gigabytes of desirable files. Please do not try to be clever. Your Windows folder, installed programs or any such things are not OK and you will be found out if you try to fake your share. Share movies, TV programs, mp3 or other files you would want to download yourself. Click OK.)

Step 6. Now right click on your new favourite hub and choose CONNECT!

Step 7. Once inside you will automatically be told your own I.P address. If not you need to type in +myip and press Enter. Goto File / Settings / Connection Settings and enter this into the IP field (if you do not do this you can't download) near ACTIVE.

Step 8. Any more help needed will be sorted out on the hub. Just ask for help in the main chat window. You can also type +faq and press Enter for answers to most of your questions.

P.s. You have to make sure you have 2 slots open in Settings and also sharing AT LEAST 5 gig of files. To stay in the hub permanently, you will need to share at least 20 Gigabyte, but you have time to do this once you are inside.

    Have fun!!

And remember, the address is expathub.dyndns.tv !!
