    Thailand is still a medieval country in social development. Law of the jungle reign first .Unless you have the backup of some military or police general , a show of force will immediately resolve the ‘lowly’ Thais. A word from authority will do just that. Otherwise, even the lowly Thais can bully the farang on any altercation regardless.

    Thais do steal branded shoes from temples when the owners enter the prayer hall. That is why I always wear sandals ( copies) worth tb200-300 when visiting prayer halls and thieves are welcome to them . I also always keep an extra pair of sandals in the car for backup.

    Let’s not deviate from the issue: whether Thais or tourists, if this trend more, restaurants will only implement the ‘Pay upon order confirmation ‘ system as in Singapore or Malaysia . Giving the option of paying after a meal is giving the customers the respect they command . If this service is abused, you can’t blame the owners of implementing a more equitable system. thus when tourists abuse the system, it is us ,the expats , who reap the aftermath.

    Thailand may be a bit ‘loose’ in enforcing laws and money can make your problems go away. However regardless , we are guests of the country whether long stay or tourists and respect each country’s laws is universal . Denigrating the host country shows just the type of person you are.

    Ya. Money solves everything here. So fine those Italians hugely and let their money resolve the issue.

    Simply because the area was designated a ‘no go area’ for corals to recuperate. Both boats and snookers / divers are not allowed into the area. Law is law.

    Thailand roads are dangerous to drive at night especially on the poorly lit roads and mountainous regions. Double carriage trucks are a menace to other drivers on twisting mountain roads ( chiangmai to lampang) because the rear carriage would swerve to the centre of the road when taking the corners.

    In asean countries, trucks and buses would stop at certain designated place in mountainous region for the brakes to cool down sufficiently . Sometimes they install water jets near the wheels to spray water directly onto the brake disc as they descend downhill.

    There is no structural engineering beams between the roof and bottom of bus. Only the thin body panels and glass panes holding the structure. Fabrications done locally so surface looking good is better than inherent safety . Life is cheap in Thailand and it reflects upon the buses too.

    Double decker bus as in the accident has no place on trips with sharp twisting turns and steep downhill as the bus is not built for them. It is built for straight level highways mainly. Given the lack of strong safety structure in the middle level of the bus, it can be fatal if the bus overturns or goes down the embankment.

    Hospital can inform immigration you willingly jump bill and blacklisted you at the border control.

    A really good starting spot to facilitate online shopping collection. IKEA quality is better than those from Thai chain stores… modern and contemporary unlike those heavy and clunky hardwood furniture from Thailand .

    Maybe he thought the coast is clear. Maybe he has a low appreciation of Thai intelligence and computer software. Maybe Thailand is a bountiful harvest for him whereas other countries are not. Criminals had a habit of coming back full circle to the place where his crimes were committed.

    If smoking a real cigarette and not vaping, she is a boor. All indoor malls worldwide enforced a no smoking ban since a long time ago. I cannot imagine Russia not up to date on this. This Russian is just being a pain in the arse to the local public. Thailand need not welcome such boorish behavior.

    Never come between a gunman and his fight regardless the good intention. Thais are well known to lose their cool and face saving upon being disrupted from their altercations . They would strike out savagely at the interloper with drastic consequences as seen in this incident.

    Talking to bargirls is not their thing. They prefer the raunchy karaoke scene or soapy massage. Moreover English is not their forte.

    You often read about road accidents from micro sleep, intoxication or simply reckless driving. Thais can go to events far away , celebrate and then drive back home regardless of sleep deprivation. This is dangerously stupid. They rarely do designate a driver among themselves to look after their safety.

    Suddenly the cow became prize winning cow or something. In Malaysia, if you were to be unlucky to kill one of those free range chicken when driving in rural area, suddenly the price of the chicken shot up because it was now a prize winning fighting cockerel.

    I have been to bangsaphan and vicinity a few times and found the expats there rather mild and easy going. None of the in your face attitude you get in phuket or pattaya. The area is generally a close knit elderly expat community so I cannot understand why this relatively young Swiss guy would want to spend his life there in the sticks.

    The altercation seemed to be at the popular bangsaphan cuisine home restaurant where many expats gathered at night for a meal. The Swiss guy is just bullying the others as many there are ex teachers and not some ex-mafia enforcers. Soon you may read about some guy’s house being burnt down or dogs poisoned if somebody decide to hit back .
