  1. Hey man for what it's worth I think what people might mean is that Buddhism is practiced with superficiality and contradiction in Thailand...most pretty much are attempting to pay their way into a better life next incarnation by making merit...its a trip when you realize most follow buddhism in Thailand much as Christians in The states...rife with contridictions...

It feels like all image lacking in substance...though you might want to start by knocking out a 10 day Vippasana silent retreat and network from there...they have a center in khon kaen...

Thailand is kind of joke...but for a new guy like you...sure..prepare to be bedazzled and sparkled for a year or two...wandering around jungles and rice paddies and villages and communities... you could find a ton of live work labor temple setups....

There is also a group of foreigners that have a retreat in chiang rai that might be a good spot for you...

Its like a yoga...work the land build some buildings grow organic kind of place...

I saw this in action with my Thai gf. Her whole family treated it like you said: as an empty religion.

But there were some very interesting aspects to their Buddhist "faith" also.

thanks for your honesty and your time

If you think Thailand is a joke, where would you post up for a few months, if you were me?

on the perimeter would be ok like this guy suggested

  2. Here's an idea.....why don't we all take a picture posing with the body. That should assist in the investigation.

    Disgusting morons. bah.gif

The Thais aren't offended by it, dead bodies are all part of life and death; it's quite common for families to have pics of a dead relative lying in a coffin before cremation. I think your rude comment about the rescue workers is a sign of someone not being able to assimilate into the culture; enjoy your holiday, hope you're happier with your next destination.

    Regards, LJ.

C'mon bro be serious. It's unnecessary and has nothing to do with culture. The fact that it is the photo that made it to the news is embarrassing for them as well.

obviously if you see pics of dead bodies in the media day in & day out its an accepted part of the culture.

  3. I have yet to go to Japan, will probably never set foot in mainland China

Been almost every where else in SE Asia, Even with all the negatives, Thailand for me craps over anywhere else

Manilla is one of the biggest ****holes on the plant, Singapore and Hong Kong....garrhh, Anywhere in Indonesia pffft

Yes, saigon would be next one down on the list after Krungtep (BKK)

But Ive never lived and worked in any of these places

Japan is not as expensive as many folks will say. And for the price you get a very well developed lifestyle, very safe and clean and mannered and very helpfull educated people around you.

Thats true about the cost, however I found Japan to be the most boring country I have visited.

    too bland & sterile

  4. I find a lot of hotel owners on agoda can't mark their property on a map in an accurate manner.

when I ask locals in the immediate vicinity most of the time nobody has a clue ( I've even had them point in the sky.)

but if I pull out my telephone with a pic of the hotel.......I usually hear the "aaaaah" sound of acknowledgement

  5. You pick the wrong country too come too with so many fears. If you think your a teacher how do you expect to be a teacher here and show by example how to learn and grow in life.

Walking and riding a bicycle will give you some freedom.

Walking alone and/or riding a bicycle is very dangerous for a single female.
