  1. Isn't it normal for older falangs to be packing heat when they go out for dinner here?

From the Thai side of things, it wasn't that long ago that someone senior "accidentally" killed his wife while cleaning his gun at the dinner table.

Having said that, I do believe there's a large number of mentally and emotionally unstable people here that shouldn't be allowed near alcohol, let alone guns.

That applies equally to both Thai's and foreigners.

Have not heard about that story in a while, one of my all time favorites. Made all

the more funny by the fact that his excuse about " accidentally" shooting his wife

actually worked ,and he got away scot free with the murder. Says a lot about the

    Thai justice system.

Regarding his botched suicide, that is a classic error. Due to the angle of the hand

in relationship to the head, you more or less end up shooting off part of your forehead.

So whatever troubles you had before, now you have to deal with a bit of brain damage

as well. If you really want to kill yourself, just put the barrel in your mouth.....

That doesn't always work. A friend of mine put a .22 in his mouth and pulled the trigger after a fight with his wife. The bullet lodged into his jawbone. Ouch!

Back in the early 80's I knew a guy who took a 12 gauge to his face after killing his wife.

All he did was to loose half his jaw bone and a bit of chin

No doubt like this one he only wanted to show he was nuts

    Good luck in prison here

  2. I just overtook that old bus as it was labouring up the Kata side of the hill. I saw him in my mirror barreling down the Chalong side of the hill. I got the hell as fast as I could away from him. 15 minutes later on my way back from Villa Market I saw the bus wreck. It was a very old looking bus. It will be the usual 'brakes not work good' excuse. How about 'I was going too fast' to get round the bend.

Brain not work too good either

I Ranged up Santa but he was much busy with the elves and will can't come to the phone.

This reporter was busy ranging to book an Inglesh corse whistling.gif

  4. I miss Hot English mustard not the baby food variety on sale here

I miss the sound of my old V8 Ford 4 cylinder toys don't match it

I don't miss the expense and hassle of being booked for travelling a little over the speed limit 200 baht NO Worries tongue.png

Last of al I don't miss having to going to work clap2.gif

  5. Personally I think the street vendors should be ON THE STREET not the footpath

I was hit by a motor cycle while trying to pass some of these peddlers

All I got for my troubles was a fractured leg and my wallet found in the gutter MINUS my cash

What gives anyone the right to block the foot path

Block the path where these creatures live and watch the fireworks

Let them sell food in a controlled area and let them pay to use it

Also start to collect taxes from these vendors

  6. Total brake failure on a truck or bus .... Near Impossible.

Truck brakes for vehicles over 7500k (7.5T) are operated by air pressure.

Actually, the air pressure works a brake actuator. The actuator is a very powerful spring and diaphragm device. The spring puts the brake ON. The air holds the brake OFF.

On a ten wheeler truck there are six actuators, one for each brake drum. If one fails on the air side .. All air pressure would be lost and the brakes would go on. If one fails on the spring side .. The actuator would break open under the pressure of the spring, air pressure would be lost, the brakes would go on. These devices are good and virtually fail proof, they have been in use for the past 50 years or so.

Any driver that claims and any authority that accepts "total brake failure" should be thoroughly investigated and dealt with.

You are forgetting that if the brakes are way out of adjustment due to the drums being machined oversize, and the linings worn low

Nothing makes contact, when you try to adjust them they jump the S cam.

I have seen air brakes locked on and the wheel spins around, you could put a match book between the drum and linings

S cam brakes are simple to repair but in a country with No maintenance you are better off with a boat anchor whistling.gif
