  1. Hotel industry = 14 days (give or take).

After a year that may increase. It is less than likely that an employee will be able to get their preferred dates for leave unless it also suits their employer.

It's little wonder some nationalities think they've scored the jackpot when they get a Public Service position in Australia... 5 weeks annual leave, 10 days sick leave, 3 days bereavement leave, 11 or 12 public holidays, 36-38 hour week, maternity/paternity leave, banked time, overtime, shift loading 25% - 29%. 12 hour shifts here, so 3 day weeks.

A good deal of hotel employee's in Thailand work 6 day weeks, 9 hour days (plus unpaid overtime more often than not).

What a bloody joy it must be to own a hotel chain, with assets in Thailand.

Edit: forgot to mention the 12 weeks on full pay, sabbatical accumulated each 10 years.

  2. Been pulled over dozens of times at road blocks and never any suggestion that they were after a quid. Totally different story if they catch you without a licence or doing something wrong; often your choice, proper fine or tea money.

Agreed, and even if you ARE doing something wrong (for me it was 140 in a 90 zone), a little polite patience, and having appropriate licence, got me a verbal "caution" and sent on my way.

  3. Oh my!! I work for an airline in reservations and if we, a large full-service carrier, make a boo-boo with fair BEFORE travel and BEFORE ticketing occurs, then we call and ask the passenger if it's ok to take extra from their card. If they say no, then we have no choice but to suck it up and it goes on the centre's charge card.

Some of you may be unaware, that with workers rights such as they are in LOS, these type of errors are NOT "worn" by the company/airline/hotel etc.

These short falls will come out of an employees pocket, not anyone up high that might be able to wear a 500-5000 THB deduction in salary, but instead kicked ALL the way to the BOTTOM, and then deducted out of the lowest employee on the ladder's salary.

Slightly off-topic, but if the people who think they're clever by not paying their mini-bar or other extra hotel charges, think that they've had a win because the hotel will just wear it, think again... You've just robbed some poor bugga of 1, 2 , 3? days pay. :o

  4. I can find no mention of how much, if any, wine I can bring through the airport, has anyone got any idea?

Wine is alcohol, ONE litre is your limit.

What about cigars...is the limit basically 1 box of 20/25 sticks?

It was always 250g, but according to the OP's document it's now 500g (if true, that's a pound of cigars).

  5. at 2230 hrs, likewise I often get into Swampy similarly late.

I go and find the padded seats on level 2 near the info counter.

I have already bought a paper and sit and read there and watch till a set of 3 seats becomes vacant.

Bag them, and stretch out and have a few hours kip if tired, usually the case.

You will not be alone, mite get cool tho'.

About 0830 hrs check in approaches.

The really sad thing is, that a tight R's like yourself, too cheap to leave the airport for a 10 hour layover, wants to argue with me over the price I paid for MY tickets. :D

You're an idiot, and now that's on record here for everyone else to see. :o

  6. You're wrong,

book and pay online through the airasia site for my return tickets on my chosen days (1 transaction) = $1090

To use the website and book each leg separately (2 transactions) = $1003

To get a connecting flight to BKK for MY arrival in KUL costs $100 with air asia one way.

    OOL-KUL = $557

    KUL-OOL = 1288 MYR ($445)

Get ya facts right, or say nothing.

    I do that trip regularly.

Get off your R's and check your own facts, it's quite obvious you trip regularly.

  7. ______________________________________________

Costs more to return to OZ

    ______________________________________________

Doesn't cost more if you buy 2, one way tickets. The return leg from KUL is calculated in MYR and works out a lot cheaper.

I got a flight on from KUL to BKK with air asia allowing about 4 hours (fingers crossed) in transit. It was $100 one way.
