  1. Could you elaborate further? Reason being I've heard his service highly recommended elsewhere & I'd like to share your experience with an acquaintance of mine.

The email 2 days prior to my arrival:

Subject: RE: Taxi pick-up Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya

    Hello

Everything confirm. If you have any problem please call 081-2587716.

    Thank you

    Mr.T

I arrived at 6am, and wandered around for 20 minutes looking for him, he didn't show.

I called the cell number he provided me "in case of any problem". I obviously woke him up with my call.

He mumbled a lot and piss farted around. I said "mate is there someone coming to get me or not". He said "no", I hung up.

  2. THAI is flying the upgraded Royal Silk Business Class product on all flights* from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Bangkok : 2 x 2 capsule-style, forward-facing, 163 degree recline lie-flat seating, fitted with all the latest inseat entertainment options and facilities.

Yeah and you get the older model on the return leg if you're not careful, I did. (Although I personally find the older seats more comfortable than the fancy new pods which cause you to slide down the seat at full recline). The entertainment set up on the non-upgraded 747's (flying from Sydney and Brisbane) is old school too.

  3. I got an interesting shave in the soi on the beach side of TUK.COM about half way down.

A haircut first, than shave... "you want face massage"? he asked.

    "Sure why not".

Next step was a massage of my face, than painting some stuff all over it. My eyes were covered so I couldn't watch as he probed my ear-hole with buds and buzzing things. It was uncomfortable to have some "barber" probing my ears like that. Anyway, after he finished he peeled off the stuff he'd painted on to my face.

Then he showed me enough wax to make a small candle... "this from you ear" he said.

Feeling my face it was SO smooth and soft, I looked at least 5 years younger. :o

The entire hour or so set me back 400 baht.

  4. Thanks for the recommendation, Mr T's number is now in my phone.

I'm one month away from returning, should I annoy him with an email yet, or just call up a few days prior do you reckon?

Does anyone know the latest guesstimate for the completion of the road-works en route? Most painful experience of my last trip was the 2+ hour trip to Pattaya :o

I'd leave it till a few days before you return. Once they have your name and flight details it's as good as done. A mobile number comes in handy too so they can call you at the airport to verify your return.

Last time I returned I was a bit slow coming through because I did some duty free shopping and the driver called me to check if I was coming.

He didn't show at the airport as he promised by email a day or so beforehand. I called him and woke him, after him trying to wake himself up, I asked if ANYONE was coming to get me, to which he answered "no".

    Maybe I was unlucky, ****

  5. Did the Mr T ever show up noodle?

OK you might want to scratch this loser. Confirmed he'd pick me up from swampy twice by email, the day before I arrived.

At the airport no sign of him, so I called his mobile and woke him up. A brief conversation and finally I had to ask... "is anyone coming to collect me"? answer "no".

I walked over to the taxi rank and got a 1400 baht (including tolls) taxi to Pattaya.

  6. Surely if they were fair dinkum about Thai's voting, they'd arrange "postal/absentee votes" for the thousands and thousands that work outside their home province, allowing them to vote from their current city of abode.

It can't be true that non-voters get a black mark against their name, can it? Surely they'd run out of black ink if that were the case. :o

  7. Starclass is a shi-t-show quite frankly. It's a 9 hour flight Melbourne to Bangkok, and if you imagine that at the very least you'll get some extra leg room out of the deal, you're mistaken.

I'm waiting to learn what Air Asia X's, X-tra class (same sort of deal, but cheaper) between the Gold Coast and Kuala Lumpur has to offer as far as leg room goes.
