This tragedy and probable travesty of justice has all the ingredients for a major Thai movie or soap script (add screaming, hair-pulling bitches and hospital bedside scenes).
There's enormous wealth, palatial mansion environments, major brand sports car high speed accident, drunk driver (young boss of the sole franchise jointly-owned by two megawealthy Thai families both involved in huge alcohol-producing companies with an internationally-known energy drink as well) who leaves the scene, resulting in corruption at all levels. There's probably more.
This could win awards. Financing no problem: a few script changes to divert the blame where necessary, paid for willingly by some of the real-life participants.

Simply put there is no regard for the rule of law by any group and the country is already in a state of bovine anarchy. And all are aware of it. The ship is rudderless and it is only a matter of time before it hits a reef.....
And this is precisely why many TV members and others love living in Thailand!

who the hell is writing these reports, police hunt for 2 portuguese who where drinking with the sisters, now they say it was 2 brazilians.
Portuguese is the first language of Brazil. Maybe they were simply overheard talking to each other and not officially identified..

Think about how timely such an operation would be to implement, not to mention how would you train Thais to spot counterfeit goods when they have been using some form of counterfeit goods for their whole life (Clothes for example), so are they expecting to spend a couple of hours going through every passengers belongings to sort out the genuine from the fake.
Quite simply its not going to happen
Exactly. If word gets around that incoming passengers are being scrutinised and/or searched and asked to prove the authenticity of anything they are wearing or carrying, the whole world will fall about laughing about Thai government idiocy - not just on TV.
-
I'm sure something got lost in translation and they were really only flying kites (chag wao) - or that's what the police thought.
-
Lying has always come naturally to the Thais; it's part of the culture of non-confrontation; just like the thoughts hidden behind the false smiles.

[We seized gambling items and 3,900 baht in cash,” said Col Wanchai Palawan, who led the raid.]
Wow, what a haul. How much was pocketed before the official seizure I wonder.

Nothing odd about a spoilt Thai brat wearing a £4000 watch?
Of course, the headline and everyone calling a plastic stool a chair makes it even more dramatic. Great reporting as usual.

Typical Thai marketing deception - packaging designed to grossly exaggerate the quantity of content. Crisps and nut bags mostly full of air. Brands is even worse. The beneficial properties of these essences (now including two fruits) is not an issue with me. It's the packaging. They market a gift basket version with custom holder (the whole thing made of plastic) displaying 20 items and sold at a highly inflated price. However, when you open the clingwrap you find 10 jars and their 10 EMPTY BOXES! It is designed to deceive both giver and recipient. It is possible that a third party is responsible for this and sells these baskets in Thailand and Laos.

Get a second passport first; there are several countries that offer this. If you're entitled to US military benefits, you'll lose them if you renounce citizenship.

Not if they're English is as bad as this report suggests.
... or this sentence?
Better to take that out on the likes of the Nation, who should know better.
Is that who wrote they're instead of their? Pot calling the kettle black up there, I think.

He's just an angry old has-been passing away his twilight years in the dessert.
Unloved, unwanted and esteemed only for his wealth and ability to cheat.
His past caught up with him. Old crimes are now coming to court and back into the nations minds.
So he sits there moping in his dessert home throwing verbal grenades at politicians of all parties. Losing friends and support day by day.
Fading into insignificance.
Just another sad old man....
(Pink Floyd. Animals)
That might be true if he wasn't virtually running the government through his sister and cronies.

To be fair to the Ladyboys, they are entitled to professional careers, I would imagine that many would be excellent teachers.
It's far better to give the third sex the chance to be positive role models in Thai society, and an act of cruelty to deny them a chance to live normal fulfilling lives.
But that applies to women too (the second sex?). Has no one protested about discrimination against them? Why is the school 'all male'?
Is the 'third sex' referred to as such in the constitution?
I think Natee may be misguided on this one.

Are you actually living together now in Laos? If so, then living together as an unmarried couple AND having got your Lao GF pregnant, it seems to be that you are potentially at risk of arrest! AFAIK (from living in Lao PDR), sexual relations between a foreign man and a Lao woman are illegal...

Amazing. Not a single comment or snide remark yet - not even about the typo in the title.
Too serious a topic, perhaps?

I don't think anyone really knows what they are talking about. Its impossible to see the future - especially in currency and exchange because things can happen over night in many sectors that could change many things.
This is true, the UK might find that there's a massive seam of gold running down the centre of the country, all the way from the Scottish border down to the Isle of Wight. Thailand on the other hand might find itself annexed by Laos thus all attention would be on GBP/KIP instead. Anything less than those things is unlikely to have an impact, in my opinion.
This is why I moved to Vientiane. Watching, waiting ...

I have as much sympathy for him (and the dead girlfriend) as I do for Anders up in Norway. All victims of human frailty.

No reverse thrust. But they feather the props to aid braking.
Feathering aligns the blades with the airflow to reduce drag and is used in the event of an engine failure on one wing. Fine (flat) pitch would aid braking if reverse pitch was not available.

you want to reduce death on roads ? easy ............. send the people to DRIVING SCHOOL , in those schools you learn how to respect other drivers, road safety , to read what road signs means etc .... unfortunately it seems the 15,000 dead per year in this country is not enough as nothing is really done to fight road accidents., ban on alcool ? pffffffffffffff a total joke as they did it how many time before and it doesnt work. ....
Be careful what you wish for. Sent the tgf to driving school. She got in their car and started to adjust the mirrors. She was told she should not use them as she should only worry about what was in front of her, not behind or to the side. Needless to say, end of driving school.
Couldn't resist this one. The 'vanity' mirror is on the passenger's sun visor only. She was probably adjusting the mirrors so she could see herself while driving!

Flying, can you confirm which Thai operator's 3G SIM you used in the Galaxy?
Does anyone know if the Galaxy sold in the UK is the same 3G spec as Thailand?
Thanks

Can a UK-purchased Galaxy (HSDPA 21Mbps 900/1900/2100 EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900) be used with a Thai SIM for voice and data? How much for a typical low data usage plan per month?
Thanks,

That's because by the time this fantasy happens, passengers won't be allowed ANY hand luggage.
