he was driving from Bangkok to attend his father′s funeral at a temple in Chonburi,
Shame his dad isn't around to tell his son to slow the Xxxx down. Not to be glib, but I wonder if the first thing he did when his father passed away was to buy a Lamborghini.
Either they are keeping the body for a long time or ordering and shipping is a lot quicker than I thought.
There are Lambos on sale in Bangkok right now. In fact there are two up country where I live in a showroom
Don't you feel exposed living in a showroom?

Speaks volumes for American english teachers.
Here we go.
Just a tongue in cheek comment no offence intended. It is funny having a note written like this and it turns out to be an english teacher. Being American is just a bonus for jokes.
He may have written it like that to deliberately put people of the cent.
Did you perhaps mean satang?
Or "off the scent".

Your country is long?I don't know what the big deal is. As someone pointed out I don't believe the OP who, while stating he is a millionaire also stated he took a bus to Udon. Right. I always charter a private jet to take me, and wait for me until I'm ready to return.
What's the big deal about quality of expats? All I need is a couple of good friends and we let the rest of the world go by. That's the same in my home country except being longer I have more friends.
There are nice people everywhere, and axxholes mixed in with all upper class pretenders.
Is it Chile?
Bloody freezing - in the south especially!

Fun in Nongkhai. Really? Care to expand on that?

It was my fault; I was in the wrong.

Thais being political sour losers
I hate it when they complain about sore grapes.
If you've got sore grapes, rub some Savlon on.
Or get them removed – preferably by 'strangulation'.

Hotel Suradith is about 4 minutes walk from the Embassy - clean but a bit basic, 500 baht a night... as a matter of interest it has a disco every evening (no noise for guests) and if you're interested a lot of girls (and boys) go there and can easily be chatted up over a beer (80 baht large bottle)
Unless you're looking for "a gay old time" (Soradith's night club is VTE's only real gay/ladyboy hangout) you'd be much happier staying near the river than near the Embassy. Plenty of hotels, cheap guest houses and restaurants.

Rotten to the core from top to bottom. The Royal Thai Police is a national disgrace and their nefarious activities are well known and documented which indict both the Government and Thai society as a whole
But why pick on Thailand for this? Corruption of this type is endemic in many SE Asian countries – and other regions too.

I thought it was going to be about ladyboys.Falling For A Fake ?? I Thought this thread was going to be talking about the PM
No, they are the real thing. Ask any Thai.

Gold has always been an investment based on fear. It's a terrible investment. Anyone buying gold after all this should have their heads
examined. Son nom na.
In spite of the current (temporary in my view) fallback, gold has doubled in price in the past 5 years, equivalent to nearly 15% p.a. Not so terrible.

I depserately hope something significant comes out of this.
Just look at the Korean tourists having the boat accident yesterday.
But I won't hold my breath....
Only to stop yourself drowning.

It's taken a while to wade through all this. All I can say is that if being still referred to as 'the falang' is the OP's biggest issue living with or near a Thai (or Lao) family, he's doing pretty well!

The Dutch tourist has not done himself or anyone else any favours by posting this so publicly. Anyone living in SE Asia knows that this sort of corruption exists and probably always will. It's part of the system. The affable young policeman, happy to drink beer with his 'victim', was only following orders from above. Most of the daily 'spot fines' would go to the station CO – none actually to government coffers. Now the poor guy will be the centre of attention and may even lose his job. No one above him will be affected in any negative way at all.
There are so many worse examples that could be used in order to try and stamp out corruption. I know whose side I am on on this particular one.

For his own sake, let's hope the menheer has left Bali permanently.

It just makes me thirsty, like too much salt, especially after eating noodle soup. In Laos it's added to virtually everything as they believe MSG or 'Knorr' makes it taste better. They even use it a 'dry dip' for fresh vegetable snacks. You will only avoid it by eating at home where you will personally need to oversee food preparation. Never rely on verbal compliance!

#41 - "He visited the area last week, there was a thread on here about it.
But i'm sure facts like this won't deter you from posting nonsense.
There was a press conference in the UK as well to explain how ready they
are etc. Normal procedure i would have thought!"Is the Bangkok Marathon next weekend like the London Marathon, for which there's a possible correlation?
No it's not until November.

22% of accidents occurred on straight roads? My god if they can't even drive properly on a straight road, these idiots wouldn't last one minute on mountainous Laotian roads where there are surprisingly few accidents mind you.
You don't think that might have something to do with the little traffic on them? As to the number of accidents, how would you know that? Everything Lao drivers and riders have learned is by copying their Thai neighbors' habits. They are even worse.
-
Could happen anywhere! Leave if you don't like it! We're guests here!!
You mean anywhere in Thailand or Laos. Just stay off the roads till it's over.
-
Not sure if this thread is about drug dealing or death penalties.
The threat of a death penalty is meant to act as a deterrent, and it probably does to some degree.
What if Thailand had the same for causing the death of another road-user?
Might it have some effect? Maybe it would only have to be carried out a couple of times (on poor people of course) for all drivers and riders to get the message.

To an American's ears, the term "sex fiend" seems somewhat misapplied here.
Why, some of my best friends are "sex fiends," but as far as I know none of them have ever been interested in anything but consensual sex with othrr adults. I daresay more than a few of them might be found reading this very forum.
How about under-aged-male sex fiend?

Everything is a drama in Thailand..
Hardly qualifies as drama. Soap opera, comedy, farce, tragedy – yes.

It was what would normally be treated as a joke by any normal human being....idiot.
An erroneous assumption of who and what is or has become "normal".
