I think fear will stop many turning up. The fact that they are enforcing the ISA will only compound those fears.
The current administration hasn't done enough 'in your face' wrong (although behind the scenes we can all see what's coming). I think this demonstration is a little pre-mature. Still, it provides an opportunity to both see the support these 'royalists' have, and how far the government will go to suppress them if they feel threatened.

At least the Rangers are trying, and I imagine the threat to their well being is very real. Good on their boss for standing by them and accompanying them when they go out. With this sort of publicity, maybe, just maybe a difference will be made. If even one animal is saved, it's a giant step in the right direction.
They should let the rangers shoot the poaching bstards on site. That'd stir things up.
The inevitability of that is that it will happen.
Fire with fire if there is no justice.
The gathering of evidence is woefully inadequate and the opportunity to simply shoot someone deep in a forest with no chance of being caught is an option for the concerned rangers. It may becoem a consideration for the disgruntled ranger.
It would be quite easy to turn their guns on themselves and therefore make it look like a mass shoot out by a hunting party upon their own. The wondeful Thai police would explain the event as ' a personal conflict' or ' a business conflict' or even ' a drunken fall out.'
Whatever.
Unless the rule of law is enforced then eventually decent people, and particularly highly motivaed animal lovers, will take the law into their own hands.
Personally, with the rotten state of Thai society, I can not understand why vigilanteism is not wide spread, as clealry the justice system fails olrdinary Thais.
The rule of law must succeed and wrong doers, irrelevant of status, must be prosecuted.
But this is Thailand so let's have a bit of shoot 'em up in the hidden depths of some forest - and would any of us miss some scum cop and his animal killing mates?
I imagine it is the fear of an eye for an eye.... if a vigilante takes out Mr. X, then his friends/relatives/boss will return the favor. The only people who can really engineer these sorts of things are those who are high enough up so as not to feel threatened. And it's these people who are problem for Thailand in the first place.

It's nice to see some pllanning going on in Thailand, even if it is most likely originated from foreign minds.

Sad news indeed. He sounds like the type of foreigner that really does make Thailand a better place.

Of course they are keen. Not only will they get billions in above and below the table deals, but they'll also be able to send their products down here more efficiently.
It's a win win situation for the Chinese.... for Thailand however.... well experience tells us that even when the project finally finishes years overdue, there will still be a big mess due to shoddy workmanship, not enough train carriages, and huge poorly placed/constructed stations etc. I also wonder how many people a speeding train flying through the Thai countryside is going to kill when you consider the carnage that occurs from trains travelling at walking speed. I can see now drink old Somchai jumping the safety fence trying to get home and then...SPLAT!

So what the Thais are asking, is for a foreigner to help solve problems they can't solve themselves?
It's a tragedy for Thailand that their own politicians are so far from redemption, so distrusted, that the local populace have given up all hope of these 'leaders' ability to lift Thailand to a truly developed level.

I was going to write a long tirade about politics and meddling to serve particular interests groups etc etc... but i think this one word sums my thoughts up perfectly..... "Idiots!"

Many??
We know they mean "all".

Work at removing corruption in the health sector and there will be more than enough for everyone I suspect.

So essentially he is saying that Thailand would have been better off if the rice had been sold normally and the government had just given the farmers an extra 62b baht?
Well, most of Thailand would be better off.... the concerned politicians and rice brokers would no doubt have unfairly suffered.

How big an issue is the 'letter boxing' of apps due to the longer screen? Is the extra row of icons really that useful? With a 3-4 week lead time perhaps a 4S, or even better, one of the high-end Android phones might be better?

I currently have accounts with 3 banks: Kasikorn, SCB, and Krungsri.
SCB is for work and great for online banking (bill payments etc).
Krungsri is where I have my credit card and I have never had a problem using it to purchase online, or when travelling abroad.
I got my Kasikorn account because of a previous job. I've kept the account as a savings account because I like their service.

Sadly he is right about us being a cancer on this earth. We take everything from Mother earth, but give nothing back to her. Let's hope this changes before it is too late for our precious planet.

While I don't think this is a big deal, it just seems so typical to see (months after the original music video was released) yet another group jumping on the gangnam style bandwagon. Boring. Some originality please?

Isn't it mandatory that every MP needs a criminal conviction?
Yes, and to be out on bail.

One side is as bad as the other.

So the so called plt was played up by Chalerm and Thaksin's son so that the red and gullible will think it true. Will this denial by the govt. in Myanmar get the same attention thus effectively naming the above as opportunist/liars?
-
I can't see this happening. Heaven forbid if the ICC came in and actually exposed the truth as opposed to the garbage both sides here would have us believe.

Now what are they going to do with them? I wouldn't be surprised if they vast majority of them are put-down in the end anyway.

She is certainly an inspiration. The more attention this gets in the media the better. That too many people accept their 'station' in Thailand is one of the main reasons the rich and powerful can get away with what they do here.

I received this quote from a friend this morning that goes along with your comment.
"Remember, I told you why all non-Americans like Obama - it's because they know the more we have Obama, the less important the USA will be!!!"
Says it all doesn't it?
I've never heard this before, and I think it says very little. I think non-American's like Obama because he is seen less as a greedy self-serving rich kid and more of a man with a greater interest in all Americans, and the globe.

Politics in most countries is a joke, but here it's just a farce. It pains me that my tax dollars go to polishing the knobs of these self serving out of touch imbeciles.

I always like it when I see a Police Officer waving the traffic forward. "Why thank you officer. If you hadn't been there I am sure we would have all stopped our cars and got out and walked the rest of the journey"
I remember when I worked in Bang Plii. Whenever there was a traffic jam at this one round-about, there was always a police officer there controlling the traffic. To this day I still don't know which came first, the chicken or the egg.

If 'only' 160 billion has gone missing, I would be very surprised. This scheme is a complete and utter sham!
