I am not sure who it was but I did take someone's advice and bought a BMAX 3+ a few months ago. I connected it to my existing 55" LED TV via HDMI and I can surely say it's a great little unit.

NOTE: I bought it on Lazada,  fast delivery and no issues.

I've had a "BMax 2+" for several years and while it's a good value, mine has had several issues, the main one being the version of Windows (in my case Win-10Pro) they pre-install.  I don't know if it's a licensed copy or just a mirror copy but every time there was a Windows update, there were problems getting it to properly install and run.  Finally, after an update, it crashed, wouldn't open Windows.  The only thing I could do was do a total re-set and clean Windows 10 install from a legitimate source.

I used it connected via HDMI to a TV.  Often the TV would not see the HDMI on start-up, necessitating several re-starts.

  2. Local electric repair shops are always best and cheapest for this kind of repair.  In Jomtien, on Trephassit 17 there is such a repair shop.  They will come to your condo and usually do the repair onsite.  If you exit the Rampho Market from the rear, that is soi 17.  Turn left and the shop is on the right not far down.  Look for old appliances out front.

They fixed my fridge onsite for B500 a few years ago.

Is that peculiar to the USA, or common throughout the industry?

If so, then for example, if you were Cabin Crew with Air Asia, and your shift was two return flights Bangkok to Chiang Mai, then you would only get paid for 5 out of 10 hours?

I believe every airline negotiates unique deals with flight staff.  Asia being very labor unfriendly, I would guess that Air Asia and other discount airline staff don't get very lucrative contracts.  My friend worked for United in the US.

I moved from BKK to Pattaya in 2014 but when I lived in BKK I bought my medications from a pharmacy just a few doors West of the PTT station on the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 4 - sorry but I never knew the name.  It may or may not still be open but it is worth checking since the prices were much less than from hospital pharmacies and most other pharmacies.

You can always stop into Bully's Bangkok pub for a meal and a drink afterward since it is only a few doors further West of the pharmacy, or wonder back to Soi 4 and the Nana Entertainment Center or just down Sukhumvit for food and a drink.

That great pharmacy is long gone.

  5. I've been regularly using my Hisense E7G 70" TV as a monitor using a Win-10 mini PC.  I just upgraded to a new Win-11 mini-pc with a 4k capable Ryzen 5-5600H processor.  When I connect the new mini-pc to the TV, it is stuck in 640X480 resolution though the TV is capable of 3840X2160P resolution.  I tried the same new mini-pc on my bedroom TCL 43" TV, also 3840X2160 res. it worked perfectly. No scaling issues.  I also tried a 1080P monitor and that worked correctly as well.

I had previously purchased a 4k Intel n100 mini-pc for the BR TV.  I tried that on the Hisense and it scaled correctly.

So, the Ryzen pc is only incorrectly scaling on the Hisense, correctly on others.  Other PCs are scaling correctly on the Hisense.

Windows is listing the Hisense TV and the Ryzen Radeon graphics as the video source.  When I try to adjust the resolution in settings, I get increasingly smaller fonts and narrower letterboxing.

I have tried every TV setting I can find.  I have gone through Windows...I am out of ideas.

BTW, also tried different HDMI cables, cutting power and restarting: both PC and TV.

    HELP!

  6. I think OP knows, it's not going to get better.  Gifts will become meaningless, any kind of joint activity non-existent except perhaps shopping and no apparent affection.

OP; you know you have to move out and move on.  Yup: gonna be messy, drama, tears, gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.   Like getting teeth pulled, it will be unpleasant but so much better when done.

  7. A friend has a Saeco Automatic coffee machine which has a built-in grinder as well as a timer.  It has options for different coffee styles.  He purchased if for around B30,000, 20 years ago and has been using it daily since.  The only time he had it serviced was when he moved back to the US and had Saeco convert it to US current.  Expensive but it does it all and seems very durable.

    1. Yes, they are reducing them, ATM management is very expensive, but still plenty available.

    2. Most people don't use cash anymore,  phone payments even on small food carts is much easier for both parties involved.

    3. You can use all other bank's ATMs, 5 withdrawals per month are free

Sounds like a nothingburger to me

A friend was talking to the manager of a Krung Thai branch in Phuket last Friday.  They are reducing the number of ATMs nationwide and especially in resort areas.  He told her resort area ATMs are damaged far more often than non-resort areas.  Tourists get frustrated when their home bank won't perform a transaction on a local ATM and punish the ATM.

  9. Yes, but you must initiate the process with no less than 15 days permission of stay remaining on that visa exempt entry.  You will apply for a change in visa status to a 90 day Non-Immigrant "O".  They will give you a specific date to return for the approved "O".  Once you have the 90 day "O", you can apply for the retirement extension.  Sometimes you can do that the same day but more often, you have to return a 3rd time.

BTW, unless there is no line, don't worry about getting the Multiple Entry stamp at that time.  You can get a multiple entry re-entry permit at the airport any time you depart at Passport Control.  Usually much faster than doing it at an Immigration office. same price: B3900.  Only worth it if you plan to leave the country more than 3 times in the year.

That is one way to do it but you have to wait for the red light, not that practical. Some u turns are far worse than others such as Sukhumvit Pattaya Tai or Thepprasit junction

They certainly have made Thepprasit Rd a hairier place to ride.  That new center divider is going to kill a lot more people than it saves.  Almost no gaps for U-turns which means bikes and cars  bunch up at the few available.  Soi 17 used to be a great back route from Jomtien to Pattaya, quick right onto Thepprasit then left at that tall, empty condo.  Now, must turn left on Thepprasit, only U-Turn opportunity is a pedestrian gap almost all the way to Trapphaya.  Two years of construction for what?

Interesting how you and others go against the 160. I am a novice, just renting sometimes and maybe buying now. I just thought a few extra cc could be helpful if I loaded the bike with top box and maybe saddle packs for a week trip or so

See if you can rent the model you are thinking of buying for a week or so.  That should give you enough clues whether or not it's right for you.   I rent a 10 year old Fino for around Jomtien.  Never a long ride on a highway, just around town.  It has a 34 liter top box which holds a surprisingly large load of groceries.  Doesn't seem to effect handling at the under 60 kph speeds though I try to be aware that it's top heavy when loaded.  Only one major hill in Jomtien and it's ok as I don't drive 2-up.

I did rent a Click 125 in Phuket once and it had a hard time with some of the steep hills there.  Downhill could be scary as well as very little engine breaking assistance.
