  1. They kill children in Afghanistan (that is in Southern Asia) and it was not for the first time.

No, they target armed militants/terrorists, and sometimes accidents/mistakes happen.

They are not in Afghanistan in order to massacre children.

As for geography - I believe the NATO charter covers that, under "attacks vs. members". The North Atlantic part reffers to where member states are located, not where foes are.

Did you read the headline: NATO airstrike in northern Afghanistan 'kills eight children'

Last month we had war crimes and child rape cases. Committed by NATO soldiers.

That is what they do in Afghanistan.

  2. It would be a waste of time to terrorize Yanks in Thailand. There is not enough of them. There are vastly more Brits, Scandanavians, Aussies & Canadians in Thailand, than Americans. At least that is my experience all over Thailand. I wonder if the USA obtained "reliable" information from a water boarded 65 year old Afghanny @ Guantanamo; or some some computer jock working @ NSA's San Francisco "Switch", which reviews all the world's electronic info ... i/c yours typed here in thai Visa.

Had you actually taken the time to read the article, you would have found that the Israelis originated the alert and it was picked up by multiple nations, not just the US. You would have also found that the warning was for US citizens to be alert in public places. It was later released that the primary targets were to be Israeli interests in Thailand. The only concern for the US was to minimize injury / death to US citizen who would be caught up in collateral damage in the event of an attack. So you can take your US conspiracy theories and put them where the sun doesn't shine.

There was never a really threat that some terrorists would blow up tourist places in Bangkok. That was just some scaremongering fantasy warning born out of some paranoia by the US.

  3. The article just lets Thaksin talk, to communicate his message, to let him do his posturing. Like 473geo says, there is nothing new here.

I also fail to see where is the problem here or why the journalist is bad or the Korean Times a bad publication with low standards as some have said here.

Its about Thaksin points of view and Thaksins stance - who expect him to tell us something else?

  4. It was not immediately known who was behind the attack as the government blamed terrorists while opposition groups accused the government of staging the attacks for propaganda purposes.

Genuine peace and democracy loving opposition forces against the dictator should be able to realise and to admit that there are also some third party forces around who are definitely up to no good.

  5. No victim, no crime :-P Were the missiles sold/used?

Yes they were, definitely many victims and besides have you ever heard of intent?

Weapons running a victimless crime, too funny.

It is either a crime in all cases or not a crime in all cases.

Why is it that some people just love double-standards?

    ... American standard.

They love American standard. Some people love it, at least.

  6. Well, things get stranger and stranger!!

It seems that the US were pretty pissed about this little episode!! :-

Today I went in to the local Gun Shop with my Mrs (no replies about having guns please eh!), I had promised myself a new hand gun and went in to order it today. Sorry says the old boy, no can do! Why enquired me thinking but but but but wibble! He then proceeded to tell me that I can't order any weapons manufactured in the US because....the US has temporarily suspended sales of all small arms to Thailand. (he said amongst other things, but didn't elaborate on what else). I asked him <deleted>! WHY and he said its all because of the woman who was blacklisted and had dealing with Mugabe. The US were right pissed at the Government for giving her the position and asking approval up the chain when the woman was on the blacklist of a major trading partner and ally.

So it appears that this did not go woosh over the top of the American administration heads. Hilary was right miffed and someone/process then instigated certain 'sanctions'.

    Interesting!

Excellent. More promotions of US blacklisted Thai politicians, and less guns in general circulation. Sounds like a bloody good deal to me.

Well the problem is they just order from elsewhere. Czechoslovakiawill now see a boom in demand from Thailand as the US is now off the market.

    Czechoslovakia don't exist anymore.

But otherwise you are right. Its a problem for the USA and US companies. You still have the option and the choice to do your business with someone else.

  7. It probably did kill militants. If uncle sam's drone had killed innocents, then the Pakis would be demonstrating in the streets. Interesting, the Pakistanis don't demonstrate when nationalities other than Americans kill their brethren.

It is not the demonstrations against death that I have a problem with....

It is the cheering of death by any country/citizens that I find in bad taste

    Death is nothing to celebrate.

  8. Any guesses who the French would like to see do the heavy lifting?

They want military action but don't want their military involved in that action. From the article...

"But while French may support a UN-authorized military intervention in Syria, only 38 percent said they would be in favor of French forces being involved in such an operation. Approximately 62 percent said they would not favor French forces being involved in military intervention. "

    means:

If you or anyone else wants to do the "heavy lifting" - the French will not veto against it.

  9. That seals it then!!! We heard from the RUSSIAN Consul... cheesy.gif I wish the US government had saved us poor tax payers all that money and trouble and just asked him to begin with sad.pngcheesy.gif

Yes, he isn't guilty for the rest of the world. He is just guilty in the eyes of an American jury (add any smiley of your choice to show respect and make clear that you are free of any nationalistic bias).

Ok keep telling yourself that if it'll help you sleep better at night, but the reality is, he is guilty and in prison in solitary confinement until his sentencing..

Keep telling yourself that its the MOST balanced legal system, in the MOST CIVILIZED country in the world and show your disrespect for anything that is non-American if you think that would convince anyone in the rest of the world.

Thats fine for me, as long you don't start accusing me of being anti-American.

  10. <deleted>! Not facts, one mans opinion, I'll take 12 everyday, man on the street, AMERICAN jurors with no personal agenda who heard the evidence first hand over ANY one RUSSIAN consul anytime..

Yes, thats it. 12 average American think Bout is guilty. That is not the whole world, nor is it evidence for an actual guilt that could stand any other non-American jurisdiction. Like in Russia for example, they wouldn't even open a case about this.

  11. Viktor Bout is not guilty - from the source provided by the Thaivisa admin in post #4

Russian Vice Consul in New York Alexander Otchainov expressed disappointment with the court ruling in Bout’s case on Wednesday.

“The Russian position remains unchanged – Viktor Bout is not guilty,” Otchainov told reporters after the hearings.

  12. He didn't do any crime. It is not okay that he is in Jail.

He didn't do any crime? That's news to the rest of the world.... He did do crimes, and was convicted of them in the most balanced legal system in the world (take note, I didn't say perfect).. Civilized governments should respect other countries legal systems and rule of law to extradite those criminals for trial if the charge is valid and accompanied by reasonable proof which is what happened in this case..

  13. As long you don't insist that i should care what the American embassy put on their website they can put on their website whatever they want.

You don't have to care what they put up there.

I however care when Thai government officials lie about what is up there.

A lost in translation case maybe?

Thai govt official calls American Embassy.

Thai govt official: Please stop saying that it is not safe to come and travel to Thailand for American tourists because of the terrorists.

US Ambassador: I said, we did not say do not come to Thailand, just the opposite - we have high-level visitors and I've just finished inviting family and friends to come here ...

^^ Now explain that to the press and let the press made an article out of it without getting to complicated.

  14. US prisons have the best healthcare, hobby shops, libraries, education system, in the world and it is FREE.

If you want the TRUTH, look it up. Below is an orientation handbook for a maximum security US Prison.

Truth?? They don't want the truth!! They can't handle the truth they just close their eyes and ears and say to themselves la la la and claim everything is a conspiracy when the truth is mentioned..They only understand and accept their own version of the truth...

Wow, best in the world they claim, without blinking. Arrogant, perhaps? Or ignorant?

    ... American.
