  1. Despite years of claims by the USA & Israel, that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, NO EVIDENCE has ever been found. At the moment there are three states, (India, Pakistan & Israel), that are classed as US "allies", that have refused to sign any treaty limiting nuclear weapons, yet the USA continues to make demands (without any factual evidence) on Iran. Perhaps they should put their allies houses in order first.

The IAEA report imakes it pretty obvious what Iran is up to as do their own actions.

As for India, Pakistan and Israel, they have signed no treaties, but Iran HAS. Iran is the one that needs to dismantle its nuclear program and live up to its obligations.

I'm not sure that the signing of contracts is a central point here.

It seems more like realpolitik - "we bungled up before and others got away with it, not this time". Especially when "this time" seats on a barrel of oil and got a big mouth.

Not saying realpolitik isn't right, mind. You can't win them all and sometimes you got to pick the ones you can handle.

That they signed the contract and breaking the contract would give the USA the right to attack is a troll argument.

And there is no evidence that Iran develops nuclear weapon.

  2. PM Forced to Speak to Virtually Empty Seminar Room

    yingluckemptyroom.jpgLaughing-2.gif

accompanying photo to the OP article

I'm confident that picture was taken during the actual speech.

The Thai audience that is usually fills up the seats at such events isn't known for being an enthusiastic audience or to show at least any kind of emotion or facial expression that would give a speaker feedback. Talking to 400 empty seat is easier and more relaxed compared with how alienated you will feel as speaker when you ave have to look into 400 empty faces.

... hosted by the Economic Reporters Association. would have been their job to fill up the seats, send out the invitation and make sure the people come. No one goes to these events out of true interest or voluntary like you would go to a concert or the cinema. Its all organized, gives hotels a business, mini bus drivers a job to pick office teams up and office worker a welcome change from looking out of the window all day and stay motionless behind the desk and shuffle some papers now and than. + free buffet and group photos with others standing around one 'high profile attendant'.

The Economic Reporters Association failed to do their job as host. Was it in a spirit of mischief or just fail? Those tasked to organize the event were probably just "temporary employees".

  3. The world today more than tensions and conflicts is in need of camaraderie and understanding and all [people] need to enjoy equal rights,” he went on to say.

cheesy.gif I take it he will be rushing to sign the universal declaration on human rights then. P.S Your use of Press TV links clearly demonstrates which side you are on.

Why does it show what side i am on?

Should i wait that the Jerusalem post has the story and that some Zionist picks it up for rotation in the jihad watcher blogosphere? and you post it here? That would be only a 2nd or 3nd hand source.

And one of your posts made me to move to press.tv. looking for something what is close as possible to the the original. So i found the article posted above.

I think its on topic and i think its interesting to watch and listen how he plays his game and also to check how "real" the isolation of Iran is. Korea and Japan hesitate to join the American sanction game. China, India, Pakistan, Turkey don't care what America wants and with Russia Iran talks.

The future might see a rehash of the good old silk route, Europe has the option to stick with the Atlantic link or to jump into the Berlin-Baghdad-Beijing Express.

My bed is on Eurasia and not Asia Pacific and a free al-Quds. and China takes over Africa simply with trade.

America has the Ron Paul option or can escalatethe speed of ts fall till they end up with a pink tide POTUS who speaks only Spanish.

  4. He is a player.

Keep in mind that Obamas words of the international isolation of Iran are only valid in USA, Israel and parts of Europe.

But not valid for the BRIC states, Turkey, Pakistan and all the Non-Aligned and of course Thailand or Cambodia who just said yesterday they wanna buy oil from Iran and how they dislike the Western bully tool sanctions

    Rule of minorities over: Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called on all nations across the globe to join hands to create a just world system and to establish lasting peace and security.

    ...

The Iranian president emphasized that Tehran wants to strengthen its ties with all countries and criticized any resort to military action to settle disputes.

Ahmadinejad said sowing tensions will not resolve any problem in the world, where “economic problems have imposed heavy pressure on the people in Europe and the United States.”

“Of course, the US government usually tends to solve its problems by creating tension, war and conflict, but today, these methods have lost their efficiency,” he pointed out.

“The world today more than tensions and conflicts is in need of camaraderie and understanding and all [people] need to enjoy equal rights,” he went on to say.

  5. Do the same with radical Islamist Imans and publish under your own name then see how long you would last.

Are you kidding? Perhaps you dont remember the decks of cards that were circulated all over the USA last decade?

Truth is you would be in more trouble for the torture cards.....

    Besides

No harm came to you for your previous avatar eh?

If you had made that posts with an IP address that pinpoints you to somewhere in North Waziristan, a drone were allready on its way and a precise, precision strike had targeted your computer, installed a patriotic Midi file with an annoying melody, destroyed all memory folder with Un-American content, destroyed the soapbox, melted the eagle, destroyed your house and the house next door and had killed all al-Qaeda members and their affiliates in your village.

You are now liberated and have the right of free speech. Use right buzz words or someone will find it interesting enough to take notes.

  6. Yet again they have done nothing wrong, they have done nothing aggressive, they have invited inspectors, they have not attacked anyone.

Ooh, I dunno; buying dodgy missile parts off the DPRK covertly, acquiring nuke info off Pakistan covertly, building nuclear facilities (deep, deep) underground covertly, refusing to answer fundamental questions on the nuclear issue, taking enrichment over & above what's needed to generate electricity, partaking in experiments tantamount to that which one might do when developing a nuke, threatening to flatten an entire country. If they're innocent, none of that would be so and they haven't attacked anyone simply because they know they'd be eviscerated. When they have the bomb, they probably wouldn't be, plus the whole region will be at it. I'm with the Yanky doodles; get in there and deploy some new bunker busters asap. wink.png

... building nuclear facilities (deep, deep) underground covertly,

As long you have enemies who wouldn't hesitate to attack you and blow up your nuclear energy facilities with bombs its a wise thing to do.

If that deep deep deep in the underground one deep too deep for your bunker busters, don't get sad. Bomb one at your home, Its easier to access, saves gasoline, less risky to attack, no one shoots back, blowing it up in one second spares you all the decommissioning hassle and you can study the outcome at home and you won't upset any foreigners.

What ARE you talking about? Your last two posts have made little sense.

Post number 301...Who is "He"? Who are you describing?

Post number 303...Huh? Bomb one WHAT in your home?

Perhaps you should take a deep breath and relax.

301 "He" = Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. who else is famous for to suggest that al-Quds needs a regime change?

303 bomb a nuclear facility back home and not in Iran. check if you like it.

To bomb Iran makes no sense. take a deep breath and relax.

  8. Diplomacy between the US and Iran? Are you joking? There are no diplomatic relations between the US and Iran. Between Israel and Iran? Iran is on record to desire to destroy Israel and has proxy forces bordering Israel that are active military enemies of Israel. Not a matter of war mongering. The war has been on for a long time already.

    Jingthing

You do your intellect a disservice by continuing to spout off the well worn and totally incorrect statement that Iran is on record to destroy Israel. That is not what was said is it? I am talking of the warmongering by several Thai Visa members.

He is on record to whisper ' regime change in al-Quds' once in a while and triggers always an amazing press and drama queen feedback in the western world when he does it.

The same western world calls for an end of the Islamic republic and/or to topple the government almost daily. And dozens of think tanks, experts and correspondents make a living with publishing strategy papers, writing articles and giving interviews on the subject when is the best time to attack Iran and politicians and cabinet members of foreign governments discuss openly which kind of weapons, bombs, missiles or even mini nukes they should use for a strike on Iran.

i could imagine that Ahmadinejad has a good laugh when he does something similar, he just have to mention the words 'regime change' without any warmongering talks about bombs and preemptive missile strikes and he gets a lot of attention. and will get called the great destroyer and the biggest enemy.

Like a prankster holding up a mirror or like a troll.

He definitely loves to fool around with the Western media in one issue. He takes two Western values the Islamic republic gets confronted with

    - Free speech, like in case of the Mohammed cartoons or free speech issues in Iran in general and

    - modern science, scientific methods vs religion and beliefs.

Remember the Mohammed cartoons were totally offending and insulting for the people in the Islam world and some went really nuts. In the West no one really understand why or tried to understand. Free speech, free world are the values you have to defend and of course you don't belief in god anyway. .

Now comes Ahmadinejad and switches Mohammed and religious beliefs with the holocaust issue.

Result: Holocaust cartoons and statements like: "Holocaust??? I am an academic, we question things, let me do some additional research on it first before i am going to believe everything, i need proof. scientific proof. "

    DANG.

The free speech, free world argument is suddenly not that valid anymore, but its an rather offending and insulting issue.

To western journalists he will never give a straight answer here like: "Yes, the Holocaust was real." , not because he is an Holocaust denier, but because he likes to fool around with these journalists and the western audience. For him they are totally nuts anyway.

  9. Angry Iranian leaders are capable of who-knows-what when provoked. Logic is not an over-riding sentiment when emotions erupt.

The saddest part of all this saber rattling is the Iranian people are as decent as people anywhere. It's their leaders who are making messes. yet it's mostly the regular people who will be harmed when push comes to shove. The Immans might just slip out the back door and go to France, like the Kohemeini did when things got uncomfortable for him a few decades ago.

    Logic, emotions and sabre rattling?

    did you read the OP?

The U.S. military has made a secret request for additional funding to upgrade its largest conventional bomb ...

while Iran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is for the peaceful purpose of providing energy

  10. I totally discount people who think Iran isn't working on a program. Either they are massively naive and/or so anti-Israel/anti-US that they have become Iran partisans.

I concur, but I do not think that the naive aspect is very common.

SPIEGEL Interview with IAEA Head Yukiya Amano

SPIEGEL: According to the most recent estimates, Iran is only a year away from building a bomb.

Amano: I'm not so sure about that. Despite all unanswered questions, we cannot say that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program.

  12. Iran to give US bright pink toy spy drone as 'gift'

    Sun Jan 29 2012 16:43

An Iranian toy maker has responded to US requests to return a downed RQ-170 spy drone by sending President Barack Obama a bright pink model of the plane.

    ...

"We wanted Mr Obama himself to have these toys and know that Iranians don't leave anyone's requests unanswered.

"We made the 'RQ' in pink as it is Mr Obama's favourite colour and we will send it to him via the Swiss embassy," said the head of the cultural department, Seyyed Saeed Hassan-Pour.

"We decided to show that we can deal with this issue in a very friendly and peaceful manner and put it in the playful hands of the children of Iran to pursue a 'soft war' with Mr Obama and the US.

  14. You're trying to make this personal. I am talking about Iran. We know what the current leadership wants and it is doing regarding their nuclear program. The west's hope for a "moderate" to take over is represented by Moussavi. It is well known and accepted that Iran's success in its nuclear program is a source of national pride for Iranian nationalists, and most Iranians are obviously Iranian nationalists, regardless of their position on the Islamic fundamentalist regime leadership.

This is a left wing US source. Show me one source from anywhere which says Iranians aren't proud of their nuclear program and want it to continue.

    You can't.

It is generally accepted internationally that Mousavi WON the last election. What exactly do you want from me? To fly to Iran and interview people? Both sides were PRO nuclear program.

    ...

It’s true that Mousavi has seized the chance to attack Ahmadinejad from the right on the nuclear question, but this is consistent with Mousavi message during the campaign — back in April, Mousavi was quoted as saying “No one in Iran will accept suspension” of enrichment. And given his own significant past role in Iran’s nuclear program, I think it’s wrong to characterize it as simple opportunism.

    ...

All of this is to say that Mousavi has been a long-standing proponent of Iran’s right to enrich, a consensus issue among Iranians, and has as strong a claim as anyone to credit for Iran’s nuclear progress.

    ...

    http://thinkprogress...tics/?mobile=nc

It is generally accepted internationally that Mousavi WON the last election. ???

Is it? I don't think so.

And what gets you so agitated about the fact that Iranians like their nuclear program? They say that their nuclear program is for the peaceful purpose of providing energy. That is the point that makes them proud.

  15. At this point, his legal problems are on-going, so he has every right to not answer questions about an on-going legal situation.

I think the reason for him to reject question about is personal life is not because it are question about an on-going legal situation.

In case it would be other kind of gossip, like about his relation to some movie actress he was seen with in a romantic dinner setting at a trendy restaurant or who is that mysterious blonde on his side, or the terminal illness of his favorite pet dog - he would equally refuse to answer even if there aren't any legal problems with an on-going legal situation attached to.

He is just a messenger, a spokesperson of an organization called WikiLeaks. His aim isn't personal fame. He wants to talk about this topic and not himself what is irrelevant to the message. Off topic. Address the OP, the content of a post rather than the poster - as they say at the thaivisa forum.

If you don't have a strong opinion about Julian Assange one way or the other - then you are doing it right.

  16. Thanks for the reply, gopnarak, but I think you are missing my point. I don't have a strong opinion about Julian Assange one way or the other. I don't have a strong opinion about Wikileaks either--other than reading a lot of the cables with great interest. I don't doubt his intelligence.

I simply am curious about his ability to hold the interest of a viewing audience on a television program. What I've seen of him on television has not been impressive. I saw the CNN interview, but not the ABC one. There have been a few other snippets on television, but nothing that would lead me think that hosting a show is his calling. But, as I said, I don't know.

By the way, I've watched a few reporters get really nervous when guests just won't answer those questions. The host can get very nervous when there are few minutes of deadly silence--all the network hears is the sound of people changing channels.

I think he is not going to challenge or to replace one of the big favorite prime time uncles every nation has and who started their career before before remote controls became standard or the cable offered dozens of choices to skip to something totally different.

Its a 30 minute show, I don't know what the format will finally look like. Is it just 30 minute talk, live, on a stage, podium, in front of an audience and without any cuts and editing or something with a lots of edits and some fancy arty experimental elements and insider jokes for neil postman fans added. There are many ways how interviews can be presented or how to made a 30 minute show. Could be in the end some dry academic talk or nerd stuff.

I mentioned the "Tabloid Schmuck" anecdote to suggest what it will probably not be, but also not something outstanding revolutionary.

Its just 30 minutes of -tainment on cable TV.

Assange has his followers and fans, his name and the names of the guests will bring in the audience. Even if his qualities as all American TV personality are just rated as mediocre - i don't think the producer have a target group in mind that would diss him for this.

  17. Thanks for the replies about his hosting. I saw him being interviewed on television once (I don't recall the program/channel etc.) and he got upset and walked out.

I've seen him a few other times on television, but nothing in enough detail to form an accurate opinion. What I've seen so far, however, is that being a tv personality isn't one of his strengths.

It was a case of address the OP rather than other posters, such behavior is baiting and inflammatory. If it continues, suspensions will be issued.

He came to the interview as spokesperson for wikileaks to discuss the release of classified U.S. government documents regarding the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, But the interviewer asked him question about his personal life.

Mr Assange: "This interview is about something else, I'm going to walk if you're going to contaminate us revealing the deaths of 104,000 people with attacks against my person."

He said that a few times but the interviewer kept the focus on his private life. Mr Assange walked out. That was on CNN.

In another case an ABC journalists wanted to discuss details like this: "“I was in the courtroom all these times, and there was talk of forcibly spreading her legs, holding her down so she couldn’t move…” Assagne: "C'mon, c'mon. I'm sorry. C'mon, c'mon. " and starts to leave. His last words for the reporter: "Tabloid Schmuck"

    Tabloid Schmucks 0

    Julian Assange 2

Assange has class. He knows how to deal with the media, knows how to run the show and knows how to make his points.

  18. Blowback, obviously.

The topic isn't about the US using nukes, but you couldn't help yourself, could you?

It now seems the US is becoming more serious that Iran having nukes is not going to be tolerated. So will the tougher sanctions work, or not?

Sure but the topic is also about using bigger bombs.

Who knows what else unfolds once the attack iran for "alledegly" trying to make a nucleur weapon.

We all know about iraq and the "alleged" weapons of mass destruction which was found to be a lie even when rumsfeflt said he knew where they were then only to backtrack and say he never said that he knew where they were lol.

This is a discussion about them wanting a bigger bomb which obviously will get people thinking about what other weapons they might possibly use in the future on them.

Lets just hope there is no war but if the usa/israel/uk have there way that bigger bomb will be heading towards iran very shortly.

Im english btw and im not happy about this situation at all.

The OP mentioned not only these bigger bombs the US wants to use to attack Iran, it also says that nuclear weapon might be necessary.

The mountain above the Iranian enrichment site at Fordow is estimated to be at least 200 feet (61 meters) tall. The MOP is designed to penetrate up to 200 feet underground before exploding, but factors such as soil density and the types of stone and rock could decrease this dramatically. Some experts believe a tactical nuclear weapon may be the only option to completely take out the facility.

Iran says that its nuclear program is for the peaceful purpose of providing energy. And Iran has enemies. Just remember when Iraq attacked Iran. If you have to deal with enemies like Dictator Saddam it makes sense if you build your nuclear energy facilities extra bombproof. Saddam wouldn't needed his weapons of mass destruction if he had the chance to blow up a nuclear reactor.

Now the US is planning to destroy a couple of Irans nuclear facilities, imagine the outcome. It probably doesn't matter if they are using an upgraded version of their largest conventional bomb or indeed a nuclear weapons, even if it are 'only' tactical ones.

  19. Of course they want to destroy Israel! They don't want a Jewish state there and they don't want Jews there. They don't want to melt the land. They want the Palestinians to take over all of Israel and for all that land to be Palestine. That is destroying Israel. Israel, as in, the Jewish Zionist state of Israel, the one nation state in the world of the Jewish people. For Iran and so many others, with over 50 Islamic states in the world, they can't tolerate even ONE Jewish state. That is intolerable.

This thread isn't about Israel, Israel as in, the Jewish Zionist state of Israel.
